Legion Levling what spec is best?

4 posts in this topic

I wonder what spec I should use on Legion levling from 100-110 because I got no set bonuses or the warlock trinket! and yeah I am new to the game but have learned the warlock rotations kinda.

For leveling, probably the spec you enjoy the most and expect to use at 110. I suspect raiders are going to be leveling all three specs in artifact power as much/soon as possible. If you're talking about viability in leveling it's sorta irrelevant; always has been. Leveling as a lock is stupidly easy, regardless of spec. You don't need to know much of any spell priorities for leveling. Basically, it doesn't matter what you choose if you're concerned about the leveling itself: every lock spec is OP/easymode for leveling.

Having said that, because of artifact power, you'd want to consider the spec(s) you are going to use at 110.

My plan is probably to level as Aff and then boost up Destro asap. I've always preferred Aff for leveling; it's just too easy to tag everything in sight and watch them all drain away without any fear of pulling anything ever from dots. It's just really smooth with no downtime. Destro is my second fav for levelling. Always found demo to be clunky leveling. I know some on this site prefer it while leveling though.

Edit: Just so you don't think I'm blowing you off, I should  mention that, yes, I know for some classes leveling spec matters a decent amount. In the past some specs have been pretty annoying to level with; but this just isn't the case with locks. Leveling is a complete nonissue for them. The only things I can imagine are relevant are which spec you prefer and which one you plan on raiding with at 110 (and I think locks are going to have to be raising at least 2/3 if not 3/3 specs for raiding).

With wreak havoc you can just about 1 shot two mobs every time. Aff sounds tempting! Level in a group though and you'll see how useless we are at burst and aoe very quickly haha!

while destro is my least favorite there is no denying that it is exceptionally efficient than the other two specs for leveling. You can literally kill things twice as fast. I leveled as aff on beta and demo on alpha and i wish i had just done both as destro once i saw how it played.

I plan to not even bother with the other two artifacts until im 110, and only after im sitting on 2/3 gold traits on my scepter. The aff weapon seems like such a waste with there being two gold talents that only proc from a killing blow which is completely useless in PVE and minimally useful in PVP.

      Introdution:
<Turkeyism> is a (7/7M EN) (2/3M ToV) (3/10M NH) weekend raiding guild on Stormrage US. Our guild was originally formed in early 2013 as a 10man Heroic raid team with the goal to have fun and get as far as possible. After having defeated Heroic Garrosh in Siege of Ogrimmar and ending the Mists of Pandaria expansion ranked 19th on Stormrage, our team decided to push forward into Warlords of Draenor. With the introduction of Mythic in 6.0, our team set out to expand our roster, overcome new challenges, and defeat the final boss on Mythic, all while maintaining a fun atmosphere to raid in. We finished Warlords of Draenor ranking 14th on Stormrage and managed to get 27 of our raiders the Felsteel Annihilator mount from Mythic Archimonde. We are now currently raiding Mythic Nighthold and looking for additional players (870 ilvl+) who seek a challenge and want to have fun.
      Raid Times:
      Friday: 7:30pm – 11:30pm EST
      Saturday: 7:30pm – 11:30pm EST
<Turkeyism> is a weekend raiding guild that raids two nights a week from 7:30 – 11:30pm EST on Friday and Saturdays.
      In Demand Classes:
      Paladin (Holy/ret)
      Druid (Balance)
      Priests (Shadow)
      Hunters (Marksmen/Beastmaster)
      Warlocks (Affliction/Demonology)
      Monks (Mistweaver/Windwalker)
(We prefer the classes listed above but all exceptional applicants will be considered.)
      Guild Expectations:
So as a guild there are a few things we expect our raiders and recruits to do/know.
First, we expect our raiders/recruits to know their class fairly well. They should also have a good grasp of the encounters by either having first-hand experience, or by watching tutorials and kill videos online. Knowledge is power as the saying goes.
Second, we expect players who wish to be part of the core raid team to understand that attendance and showing up on time to raid is important to the success of the guild. We understand when real life issues come up, however it isn’t fair to the other 19 players who showed up if you continuously miss raid because of “reasons”. This is why we want to make sure that our raiders/recruits understand that by joining our raid team, you are making a commitment to the rest of the group to show up every week. Ultimately, we are all individuals working together towards a common goal and our success or failure as a group depends upon people committing to the team.
Third, we expect our raiders/recruits to be able to take criticism from others. If we notice that you could improve in any manner, we won’t hesitate to point it out. We won't ever attack others for making mistakes, but we will politely let them know of their blunders and how they could improve.
Fourth, raiders/recruits should be willing to sit out for certain encounters. We know it isn’t the most fun thing to have to sit out on a boss fight, especially if there is loot or if you’ve worked hard getting to that encounter. However, not all fights are created equal and sometimes we have to ask players to sit out in order to have the best group composition to complete the encounter. Your willingness to sit out won’t be forgotten and we try to make sure that everyone gets a chance to kill the boss and get loot.
Fifth, all recruits are expected to present WarcraftLogs in their applications. This will give us an idea of how you handle mechanics and how well you performed. We understand that your time is valuable and so is ours. By looking at your WarcraftLogs we can get an idea if you can perform within the required range were looking for before bringing you in to raid with us.
Finally, our guild is made up of players in their early 20’s/mid-30’s and our chat can sometimes get spicy and very adult oriented. We can sometimes talk about off the wall stuff, some of which can get very “Rated R” very fast.

      <OVERLOAD> - Darksorrow - 7/7(M) 3/3(H) 5/10(H)
      RAID SCHEDULE
      Tuesdays & Thursdays: 20:00 – 23:00
      Currently Recruiting:
      Ranged DPS - Mage/Warlock/Priest/Shaman
      Healer - Shaman/Priest
      ABOUT US
The guild is formed by experienced raiders with a varied, hardcore-raiding background. We strive to obtain steady realm progression. And we aim to create an active and friendly atmosphere whilst doing so. Since Legion the guild has undergone a revamp through new leadership; the change was needed as we found it hard to balance being casual whilst trying to stick to a strict raiding timetable.
Upon joining Overload, players who are interested on staying as a social member will be given membership rank. Players looking to apply for a raiding spot will undergo a 2 week trial period where their performance, attitude, readiness and playstyle will be evaluated using Warcraft Logs and WoW Armory.
      Every player matters!
It’s about us as a community! We want everyone to be and feel a big part of the guild, no matter what level or guild rank. Our current officer team includes, Calamity (Guild Master & Raid Leader) Aggravating (Theory-Crafting/Raider Evaluation & Strategy) and Wingria (Guild Management/Website/Loot Master & Logs). Officer meetings take place every Monday evening. Any idea’s suggestions, concerns or issues can be brought up and discussed with an officer to be added to the agenda for these meetings.
      A life outside WoW
We fully understand that players can’t play WoW 24/7
(as much as some of us try!)
The gaming experience should be a arranged around your every day habits and commitments. World of Warcraft should help provide relief to players from every day stress and worries; not adding to them. This is why our raid times are tailored to Tuesdays and Thursdays only. What we expect from our Raiders is to attend the raids 15 minutes prior to the time stated, informed, organised, and gear optimised for the encounter. If a player cannot make the raid they are expected to give plenty of notice on the AFK thread on the forum or by contacting an officer directly.
      Interaction amongst members!
Overload is more than a place for raiding. We are a community of friendly players who enjoy long hours of awesome gaming. Being friendly and polite towards ALL players is very important to us and an essential part of being an Overloader. We want everyone to be comfortable and enjoy their game time; regardless if you are a raider or social member.
Do you think you have what it takes to be part of Overload?
Apply now HERE and head over to our Forums.
We look forward to welcoming you in Legion!

      Howdy howdy!

Requisite armory link: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/aggramar/Mayo/simple Requisite most recent parse: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/rankings/character/93755/latest Am I following the Icy Veins rotation? Yup, for the most part, unless I have a brain fart. With that out of the way, I want to start by saying that I’m not unsatisfied by my DPS, but I know that I can do more / do better.
I’ve got two of the best legendaries (Ashes to Dust & Chain of Thrayn), two of what I think are the best trinkets. I’ve got the Claw of the Crystalline Scorpid (880) and the Entwined Elemental Foci (890) but don’t use them currently because my sims are showing Convergence of Fates (895) & Might of Krosus (895) being ~7-10k higher, but I’m very open to hearing if maybe the sims aren’t as accurate as I’d like to think they are.
I’m just... stuck on how to get there. I was hoping that I could get some sage advice from other paladins in here.
All of your thoughts are most appreciated.
      Thanks,
      Mayo
