Gold Making: Brewfest

It's Brewfest! Grab your tankards it's time to make some gold!

Introduction

Ah, it's that time of year again where  I finally get to visit Ironforge (I really miss the place but too many people trade in Stormwind for me to set my hearth there). This will be a pretty short and sweet as, sadly, there aren't many gold making opportunities this time round with the beer guzzlin' event.

Just a few pointers to make before we start.  The majority of players will be spending time with Legion things rather than another year of Brewfest.  This COULD mean there's a bit of gold to be made but it is mainly focused around battle pets (I can hear the audible groan already).

All I will say is don't do anything you don't want to do. If you are one of the players who is pushing gear and artifact power to get into your raid teams first week of raids and don't really want to do Brewfest, then don't.  A bit part of gold making is getting motivated and enjoying making the gold.  If it becomes a horrible grind and all you would rather be doing is World Quests then do those!

2016

The only new addition this year is the toy Gravil Goldbraid's Famous Sausage HatGravil Goldbraid's Famous Sausage Hat.  Sadly, this is Bind on Pickup so there aren't any gold making opportunities here.

It costs 100x Brewfest Prize TokenBrewfest Prize Token if you are interested.

2015

Last year I managed to make a considerable amount with the (then new) pet Stout AlementalStout Alemental.  I doubt that this will be as lucrative this time but it still offers the greatest gold making opportunity for the event.  All of the toys are sadly BoP so nothing we can do here.

The three pets available are:

Pint-Sized Pink PachydermPint-Sized Pink Pachyderm - 100x Brewfest Prize TokenBrewfest Prize Token

Wolpertinger's TankardWolpertinger's Tankard - 200x Brewfest Prize TokenBrewfest Prize Token

Stout AlementalStout Alemental - 200x Brewfest Prize TokenBrewfest Prize Token

As you can see there is a decent amount of gold to be made on the level 25 versions especially if you wait a few months to sell.  If the level 1's drop below 7k I would consider buying a few to resell during the year.

The other two pets just aren't worthwhile / viable right now for gold making as they have been around for too many years, so if you want to buy a pet buy the Stout Alemental.

Remember if you want to power level pets, use the Squirt technique and you can level it up in 5-10 minutes depending on your exp bonuses.  4 to 5k potential gold in 5minutes you say?! My YT video guide is here which is an updated version for Legion.  In terms of a written guide, I will be writing a new up to date Legion verison on here "soon" but the Youtube link above should have you covered until then.

Wrap Up

So yeah sadly that's pretty much it this year.  Keep doing your Legion things and if you want to Brewfest (if you haven't got all the achievements yet for example) use your left over currency on a Stout Alemental!  Good luck!

NOTE - Just to make you aware the new trinkets dropped from Coren are 810 ilvl however they cannot be disenchanted.  The Tremendous Tankard of Terror is STILL BoE (a level 810 1h mace) but due to artifacts is it pretty much worthless to the average player.  HOWEVER this does disenchant to a Chaos CrystalChaos Crystal so keep an eye on prices if they drop below the Chaos Crystal price you could potentially make a little bit of gold as an enchanter!

Ah brewfest.  It's too bad they don't update the world events a bit more but I will probably end up doing something during it.

Totally agree!

I was chatting about this the other day saying at least one achievement plus a toy / pet is whats needed.  Enough to get people who have played the game for years to do.  Make them BoE for players that don't want to grind it (and also make some gold :P)

I was really expecting some big changes with the new expansion, but it looks like we're sticking with just adding a new item and forgetting about the rest :(

I imagine the uptake on the new BoP toy will be extremely low as well.  Times like these being BoE benefits the entrie community as gold makers farm loads.  Not to worry enough other stuff to do :)

At the moment, I imagine people will just be standing there at the end of Winter's Veil going:

"Isn't Brewfest soon?"

The new War Within Allied Races was added to the Alpha today and we already have a full look at not only all their customization options, but their dances as well, courtesy of MrGM! You can check out the Earthen's racial abilities here if you missed them earlier.
Let's start with the more dynamic feature, with both male and female dances:
And then there's big amount of customization options, as well as a size comparison with regular dwarves:

So, are we liking the new Allied Race overall? More than actual dwarves?

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?
