What healer class to take, please?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I want to start playing on a new server so I can play together with a friend.
I still have my 100 boost, so I do not need to transfer any of my existing characters.

My friend is playing a druid tank, so I was thinking of taking a healing class.
I have played some healer as paladin as well as shaman and druid, but this was before Legion, and never in raid situations, only in dungeons.

I also do not really plan on raid healing, so my main objective is healing in dungeons.

Could you please suggest which healer is best for healing in dungeons?
Also, if I want to heal in Legion, does that mean I should go straight for that heal spec and artifact? Does that make it too difficult to quest and level up?
Or should I just take another spec, and save the big Artifact Power items for my heal artifact when I reach 110?

Thank you!

Xylaria

So my thought is to play a Druid with what you said.  That way you can swap items with your friend in a dungeon.

@ 102 you can get another Artifact / Spec (Then you can dump points into it).  If you do Balance you are collecting Int Trinkets and such.  Most of the other equipment swaps from Agility to Int when you change specs.  I have no problem healing a dungeon with a druid.

You can do whatever you want too.  I would suggest focusing on one weapon for the time being.  I think after the 6th unlock it starts to slow down and get expensive.  So you can go into it somewhat then focus on your healing weapon.  Up to you.

Running a normal dungeon gives you like 35 points a Heroic starts at like 400 points.  Spend your Artifact Power however you see fit.  To help you level or to do whatever you need.

That's also a downside though: if you're both druid you could both want the same items.

Is loot not personal? So if he gets it, he takes it. If I get it, I take it? And then if I already have it, I can trade it to him?

Yes you can trade.  One Guild only runs 5 mans with like Armor Wearers. Plate / Leather works the best.

Sooner or later you will have gear and 5 iLevels doesn't make much of a difference.

At some point in a 5 man your gear is going to be maxed out.

I sugges to watch the following video; which will give you perfect insight in the playstyle and numbers related to all healer classes.

personally I've found holy priest and resto druid very enjoyable this expansion, the play style is very different between those two though so it'd largely be personal preference.

as noted already you can save the items that boost artifact power to use on your healing spec, but if you do that you may find yourself better off at some point to just kill things in healing spec with the high ilvl artifact rather than trying to dps them off spec

I am currently level 102 with my druid.

He is only 102 as I save him for playing with a friend. I have been using Balance with Resto affinity as it was enough healing for now, and more DPS for our combination.

I am having a blast, and will switch to resto when we start doing dungeons.

I've been meaning to ask the same question.  I've dabbled in heals over the various xpacs and have only healed with Resto Druid and Holy Pally.  I want to continue healing with questing and dungeons but not raids and the group would vary widely with alts so need something good enough to handle a mixed group.  I have to admit that the artifact weapon progression is intimidating for casual dual-specers

For questing and dungeons (up to very high Mythics+) both Resto Druid and Holy Pala are a very decent choice. Speaking in general, druid is more of HoTs and CD healer, while a paladin has extremely powerful single target healing toolkit. You can definitely pick one of those depending on your preferred playstile.

Oh. I was about to suggest Disc Priest. It's the most fun I've had on a healing class EVER. Not sure about viability, though.

Disc is definitely viable, yeah. There are some incredibly well-performing Discs currently, you just need to embrace the playstyle.

It's also worth noting that Holy Paladin can quest surprisingly efficiently while levelling and at 110.

How do you feel about leveling and solo with Resto Druid?  My Druid is only 102 and mostly does Balance.

I felt pain :)

Guardian is our to-go for leveling and solo content in my opinion. Pull all the area, trash them in 10 sec - quest done.

I'd have to agree with Panda. If you're going to level with an OS, do it as tank. It's so much simpler and so much more forgiving.

Personally, I like healing on my Drop. The thing you must remember however, is that they depend mostly on HoTs. Dungies with areas of heavy damage to the tank, or areas where clustering is not viable(Serpentix comes to mind), you can be taxed. I have healed on my Shammy, but have much more fun as Enhancement. Not to say that they are bad per se. Just different mechanics. Bear in mind that ultimately, play what you have most fun with.

Definitely can become a bit stressful having to throw up HoTs when everyone is super spread!

I absolutely love my holy priest.  As far as questing with her, It's not an issue at all.  I do okay DPS now and I take basically no damage.  When I do, I just heal up.  ezpz.

Welcome Adventurers! The time has come upon us, FINALLY! The moment in Classic WoW history us diehard, loyal WoW nerds have all been waiting for. WRATH CLASSIC! Arthas Did Nothing Wrong (ADNW) has just begun recruiting (For WotLK Classic) hard-core, casual, rp, pvp, pve, raiders, anything you can think of, you are welcomed here. Although our main focus in ADNW will be progressive raiding, 10 and 25 man and pvp content, we look to have someone for just about anything. Currently we are recruiting for our CORE 10M team composed entirely of irl / internet homies. We are in need of just 1 HEALER (Highly prefer a disc priest with a shadow off spec) and another DPS. Preferably lock or Shadow priest. We are looking to fill our B 10m team entirely, so we can pool together for 25 man’s when it comes time to crush 25m. This guild was founded by a group of tight nit friends recently, who have been around since TBC. WOTLK was our turning point in WoW, and we CANNOT wait to get another crack at this and MAKE IT RIGHT. Come join the adventure of a chill environment full of helpful hands and knowledge. Feel free to reach out to me Via Discord: Daevilmonkiexp#9239 OR Bnet: Daevilmonkie#1280 just let me know you are interested in the guild and we can have a convo! ARTHAS DID NOTHING WRONG!

<Fun is for Casuals> is a serious but casual horde guild on US-Hyjal. We are serious about raiding without the intense hours. Even when recruitment status is none, we will accept exceptional applications for all classes. For a full list of what we're looking for check out https://funisforcasuals.enjin.com .
Our raid times are Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM server (PST) with raid invitations sent out a few minutes prior to that.

We're interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
Raid attendance is essential. We don't want people sitting on the bench but we also want to make sure we're raiding 6 hours per week. We expect you to be available for at least 90% of our raids. Be on time and prepared for raids. This includes flasks and other consumables. Discord is mandatory and a working mic is desired. You're appropriately geared for our current content. Effort and thought have been put into your gear/gem/enchant choices. You wouldn't show up for a job interview looking like a scrub, why would you apply to a guild with improper gems or some insane spec? You're up to date with your class. We expect our raiders to perform to the best of their abilities. You have a computer that's not run with hamster power or requires a hand crank. Some encounters are taxing on a computer's resources so if your toon can't even handle Orgrimmar it's not likely to do well with 20+ whelps that need AOE'ing.
You may be interested in us because:
<Fun is for Casuals> uses the personal loot system. There is no loot council, or DKP. We won't eat your babies the first time you stand in something you have no business being in. Repeatedly do it and we'll break out the bibs and BBQ sauce. We provide a limited amount of consumables and flasks on hard mode raid nights. Discord isn't a circus during raids. We're focused on the job at hand and you should be too. We don't want someone to miss a an interrupt because they were distracted by fart jokes. We are not interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
You roll on BoE items then sell them. Unwilling/unable to spend an entire evening on one boss during progression. While this is rare, it can happen. Drama queens. If you have a problem bring it up to E. This is his job. Don't announce it in guild chat or during a raid. Your issue will have nothing to do with 99% of the guild. You are 17 or younger. We try to keep guild and discord chat PG-13 but occasionally a few four letter words appear out of nowhere. Additionally, we don't want someone's mom interrupting their raiding to get homework or the dishes done. Follow the instructions at https://funisforcasuals.enjin.com/ under the Recruitment tab if you would like to apply.
If you have any question, feel free to contact E. at DbD#1309

      Tomb of Sargeras -- 9/9H 4/9M

      ________________________________________________________________________________________________________
      RAID TIMES:
      Tuesdays: 8-11 Server (EST) Progression
      Thursday: 8-11 Server (EST) Progression
Saturday: 7-9 Server (EST) Optional Farm (Normal/Heroic)
      RECRUITMENT MISSION STATEMENT:
We are currently looking for people that can commit to all raid days. We are interested in players that will show up prepared, focused, and ready to kill bosses.
We understand that real life happens, but we do ask that our raiders maintain at least 90% attendance and be able to raid without frequent interruption.
We don't have a strict attendance policy, however it is important for us to keep our progression as strong as possible, which relies heavily on raid wide attendance. We only raid two days a week for 6 hours total, so it's imperative that we are all prompt and focused for raid.
      RECRUITMENT NEEDS:
At the current moment we are seeking any spec Warlock, Mage, Hunter, and a WW Monk. As always, we will are interested in ANY competitive/mythic oriented raiders despite spec/role. We're happy to talk to anyone interested.
      Prefer:
      Ranged -- MM/BM Hunter / Mage / Warlock!
Melee -- Arms War / Surv Hunter / WW Monk
      MYTHIC+:
For our 20m roster we have four 5m mythic+ teams that do one max level key a week. These teams are made up randomly and will be mixed up every two weeks. This system allows for us to make sure that our raiders are staying up to date with gear/Azerite,  and it also helps build chemistry within the core. These are 100% MANDATORY and will be conducted after raid on raid days. Same attendance requirements as raid days.
      EXPECTATIONS:
We expect all raiders to come to raids prepared. This means:
      - Having the correct gems and enchants.
      - Class knowledge.
      - Raid preparation.

We only raid 6 hours a week, so it is important to us that we don't waste time. All underpreforming players, regardless of rank or class, will be benched until performance can be brought up to par for the current content.  We are not interested in carrying anyone, and if you cannot perform raid mechanics, then we are not the guild for you. Flask and food is something that the guild will eventually be supplying. With prices and demand here on A52, it's been tough getting those donations.  We do try our best to take care of our guild members when it comes to raid mats, this is primarily done through donations. One team one dream.. we all have to donate a little to help the team as a whole. Our guild is a small community and we all pitch in to get things done.
      LOOT SYSTEM:
Not a lot to this really. Personal loot is Personal loot. At this current time we have no structured system for non-upgrades. You're welcome to pass loot, but we will not concern ourselves with it. Our focus is killing bosses.. everyone will end up getting everything they want... eventually ?
      PRIMARY CONTACT:
      Raid Leader - Fwansis (CrispyD#1823)
      Officer - Fruitcake (Fruit#11335)
      GM - Beanboss (funny story ? )
      Recruitment Officer - Mönty (moooooonty#1899)
Anyone listed can answer any further questions you may have pertaining to the guild as well as conduct your interview in our guild discord.
