Help with Resto Druid (mana problems)

Recommended Posts

Hello Icy Veins,

i started doing HC raids  the past days and realized i get a huge mana problem when bosses are at ~30% often. I already read the resto druid guide and always get to use "Innervate" twice a fight but around the execute phase i drop to 0 mana,

Armory: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/stormscale/Druidlisso/simple

Latest Log: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/rJTGpMFA78PkjQyh/#type=summary

Would be great if you could give some advices or other tips.

Greetings
Wellisso

Looks like you could shave a few wild growth casts -- some of those were mostly overhealing. It's a big mana spender, so make try not to use it unless it's going to get the full effect. Also, make sure you're using a potion -- ideally a leytorrent, but at least an ancient mana potion.

Well like Sighelm says, need to make less Wild Growth. Then go for Omen of Clarity i dont understand why pepole play with Flourish. Omen of Clarity can solve alot  mana problems. I get OOC procc like 2-3 times a minut. Thats is alot of mana free healing.

Because you don't need to sacrifice throughput for mana.  You can get much better burst healing with a flourish EoG combo.  Most people just need to realize they can solve their own mana issues by being a bit smarter with their selection 'when to spam'.

Omen of Clarity is only going to affect Regrowth, which does not really do enough healing to justify the mana it will save. Technically you can count flourish as a mana talent as well, since it makes your hots last longer and you don't need to re apply them, coupled with EoG it saves you a ton of mana by adding burst healing at the time you need it which would save you mana and time.

Note: I say 'burst healing' but obviously its a bit of an overstatement since its more of a 'steady burst'.  I just call it that since its the only real form of burst AoE healing we have outside of tranq.

OOC has the same problem it had in WoD, it's too random. Proccing when everyone is at full health, not proccing when people are taking heavy damage. Flourish gives you control, especially in situations where your raid needs constant healing. The important thing is to use it as often as possible.

Another big help if you try and farm dungeons that drop the +% to mana regen relics. They got me through early and have since replaced. For other Druids I've played with that are having those issues is to use Vuhdo as a healing addon, and turn on "Overhealing", I believe that's what the option is called. It should show incoming heals and what your current hots will do. Also just getting to know the times on each of your heals, when the hots are going to fall off and reapplying where needed.

One thing that can cause you to run OOM in raids is having too many healers, or DPS that is taking forever to take down a boss. The longer the fight, the more mana you will burn.

Flourish is amazing, such a mana saver and does have some nice throughput one big AOE spikes to the group/raid. It's even more fun when you have the legenary ring that has a chance to apply a rejeuve(s) when using Wild Growth.

Wellisso,

Here's a couple things I noticed.

You've got a CRAPLOAD of crit! LOL.  Personally I'd try to drop some in favor of haste but personal perf I guess.

You need to throw more Lifeblooms and let them bloom more.  Think a couple Xpac's ago when we used to get the mana return. It's not just for tanks anymore.

You took Prosperity and Soul of the Forest but only cast Swiftmend 3 times the entire encounter while throwing 16 Wild Growths.  Try timing more of them together and you will see a huge difference in output and more heals down range could leave you having to push less Rejuv's thereby saving you some mana.  With Prosperity you can literally push this panic button every 13 seconds, but keep in mind that it is a panic button. As it takes 10% of your mana everytime you use it.

Using Swiftmend first gives a 75% increase to the output of the spell but also dramatically increases the cost.  That said it's 25% more efficient than just a standard WG.

Add in Flourish and it's 77% more efficient.

EoG on top of all that gives you a 213% efficiency or 30 to 1, health to mana spent.

I didn't break down numbers of SM/WG/EoG as a second CD.

Here's a quote from another post I made.

Formula: amount healed per person times number of people healed (up to 6) = total healing divided by mana cost= health gained per mana spent
WG 88400x6=530,400/68816=7.708 health per mana
SM/WG 159754x6=958,524/99616=9.622 health per mana 25% more efficient than standard WG
SM/WG/Flourish 283559x6=1,701,354/99616=17.08 health per mana 77% more efficient than SM/WG
SM/WG/Flourish/G'hnair 499966x6=2,999,796/99616=30.11 health per mana 213% more efficient than SM/WG

Efflorescence with Spring Blossoms is pulling big numbers and benefits from Flourish and EoG as well.  The problem is getting people to stand in that little green circle.  This makes its use situational and should only be used in high AoE damage situations.  Making Inner Peace or even Germination a better alternative (unless you can get people to stack, lol).

If you're looking for mana efficiency and you throw a lot of Rejuv (who doesn't) try taking Abundance over prosperity and then pop HT's.  Play with Germination as well.  It's a great talent and If you get enough Rejuv's out HT becomes an instant cast.

Here's the efficiency breakdown of our abilities

#1 Tranq

#2 SM/WG/Flourish/G'hanir 30-1

#3 SM/WG/Floursh 17.08-1

#4 SM/WG 9.62-1

#5 Wild Growth 7.7-1

#6 Lifebloom 7.34-1

#7 Rejuvenation 7.28-1

#8 Healing Touch 5.33-1

#9 Regrowth 3.43-1

See the screenshot (Sorry was from today's LFR, Ursoc).  This is with Spring Blossoms. I came in second because I was stupid and died with 10% left on the boss.

Notice I had 2 Tranq's then notice that Efflorescence with Spring Blossoms blew the double Tranq away.  If you can get the raid to stack on Efflorescence it will be way more effective.  Con is high mana output in comparison to the Tranq but Tranq is highly situational.

      Hi Team
I am recently returning from a few years away from the game and I have decided to go back to my much loved main throughout wrath, the feral druid. I have always been a cut above the rest and managed to be top dps all through wrath.
I was reading your guide and noticed in the talents you don't take savage roar. Can you explain the match behind this as to me it seems like the more viable option.

Hello everyone! When i downloaded the recent shadowlands expansion, i noticed that my macros no longer worked =0. This is not a single target DPS  macro, this is a Help / Harm selective macro So i did some digging to find out what was goin on, An example of this would be : /cast [help] Innervate ; [harm] Entangling Roots ; Innervate.  This macro utilizes one button for a dual purpose. if i am targeted on friend i innervate them while if i and targeting a opponent it would root them in place. This structure is now broken but has also made things easier in most cases, After doing some digging i discovered some new macros and the new format. Some examples of the new way to write this would be :
       #showtooltip
      /cast [help,nodead][help,nodead]innervate
      /cast [harm,nodead][harm,nodead]Entangling Roots
      #showtooltip
      /cast [help,nodead][help,nodead]Regrowth
      /cast [harm,nodead][harm,nodead]Wrath
      #showtooltip
      /cast [harm,nodead][@target,harm,nodead]Moonfire
      /cast [help,nodead][@target,help,nodead]Rejuvenation
      #showtooltip
      /cast [help,nodead][help,nodead]Wild Growth
      /cast [harm,nodead][harm,nodead]Entangling Roots
This is what they call a fall through macro, If the first line of code is not available because of a cooldown or if the Help or Harm selection, it will fall through to the next line of code. This works especially well for balance druids, shaman, and hybrid healing classes that use a ton of buttons. You can cut the amount of keys you need press in half which saves space and prevents accidentally pressings the wrong button. I like to pair my spells by the time it takes to cast, Instant casts with instant casts. They also introduces a mouse over macro for heals and rebuffs which is really good for world PVP. One of the better macros iv'e seen is a mouse over Rebirth :
       #showtooltip Rebirth
      /cast [@mouseover,help]Rebirth;Rebirth
      #showtooltip Remove Corruption
      /cast [target=mouseover,help,nodead][target=target] Remove Corruption

If you are going to try and make your own macro, you should keep in mind
1: The Global Cool Down or GCD which is the time it takes between 2 casts and
2: Not all of your spells and trinkets share a GCD, so you are able to cast 2 or 3 spells at the exact same time as long as it doesn't share a GCD.
      I hope this helps!
