Fire Mage help with logs

Hey guys, I've been playing Fire mage for the first time since Legion. I did my research on almost everything you need to know on Fire Mages. I've spent hours on the rotation and I believe that I've almost mastered it.

Now, the reason I am posting on the forum is because I need advise...

I can't seem to exceed as much as I am suppose to as a fire mage. If I compare myself to what I see on Warcraft logs, fire mages of my ITL, are almost always first or second DPS. And even my fire mage guildie that is slightly under gear does much more damage then me on every fight...

I believe that my gear is decent and so is my artifact tree... I do have decent trinkets ... So my conclusion is that I am missing something in my rotation, or that I am prioritizing something that I am not suppose to...

Could anyone help me out? I have my latest Warcraft logs, here is one of them  https://www.warcraftlogs.com/rankings/character/12079061/latest#boss=1841

If you need any more , I could link the entire raid last week.

Thank you!!

One simple question, why are you switching to unstable magic, but you keep conflagration? Conflagration is pretty much useless single-target. You did 1 million damage with it, imagine how much damage the extra pyro's would do during that fight. Plaguehive is also useless. You want 2 crit trinkets, or the tongue trinket from lair as 2nd.

It's kinda hard to analyze what you're doing wrong, best I would suggest is search up rikhlulz on youtube and watch his opener. Another thing you might be doing wrong is not saving your CD's for combustion. You should ALWAYS have rune of power and flame on for combustion. I am currently running cinderstorm myself because kindling fucks up my timings. Hope this helped you abit

Thanks for the input!

I've kept Conflagration because I believed it was stronger in the long fights, due to the dot ticking... I'll give Pyromanic a try this week and see if it makes a huge difference.

Plaguehive is being used because it's the only luck I've had so far with trinkets. Still waiting for my BiS trinkets to drop... :(

I will look up Rikhlulz, that's a good idea, maybe my opener isn't the best that's why I am lacking in the meters. I always try to pair RoP and combustion... I know its crucial to have those 2 together with Flame On and at least 2 PF. I've also speced in Cinderstorm and will try out living bomb this week during raid..

It's hard to always have the best talents for every fight since EN some bosses are mostly single target and others have adds/cleave mobs... But ill keep practicing until I give up on fire and go frost with 7.1 :P.

I suggest you try to get Wriggling Sinew asap. I can also list up what talents you should use for each boss if that would help you.

Mythic only:

Nythendra - Pyromaniac, Shimmer, Rune of Power, flame on, ice floes, unstable magic, cinderstorm

Il'gynoth - Conflagration, shimmer, rop, fo, if, living bomb, kindling

elerethe - same as above

ursoc - same as above, change to pyromaniac & living bomb out with unstable magic

dragons, same as above, change back to conflagration & living bomb

cenarius same as above with unstable magic

xavius same as above

kinda rushed through this might be confusing idk

You really shouldn't be using Conflag.  Switch over to Pyromaniac.

Your opener should always be a pre-pot with a Pyro cast.  4.5 seconds before the pull.  Typically causing your second cast (fireball) to enter you into a hotstreak.  With this Hotstreak, ROP+Combustion then right into a ton of Pyros.  Using Flame On to get the most you possibly can out.  Use Fireblast x4 (with flame on) before using PF as PF has a slight delay.

Then after your "burn" opener, go into your regular pyro fishing rotation.  You can use ROP 3 times before combustion is re-charged.  It will recharge (if done correctly) when the 4th ROP is charged.  Ensure all of your CDs are ready for ROP+Combustion and go back into it again.

Get rid of that green INT trinket.  You already have a Devilsaur Shock Baton, get a Wiggling Sinew even if it's LFR.

Link your Armory.  Also list actual fights, not rankings.

If you have crit, and you follow the correct priority rotation, you should be doing near 300k or higher sustain in Heroic.

This is simply not true. It's alot of different ways to open, I find that (2sec on pull timer)Pot>RoP>Time warp>Phoenix's flames> Fireblast>Combustion>Pyro>Fireblast>Pyro>flame on>fire blast>pyro>fireblast>pyro>phoenix's flame>pyro>phoenix's flame>pyro>RoP>Hardcast wrist procc if u've gotten, if not fireball (u should have another fire blast here.) etc

My priority skills: rampage > BT > RB > FS
      So rotation like this: BC - BloodBath - ramp - odyn's fury - BT - RB - ramp - BT - RB - RB - fs .... BC - ramp - etc
also I user free excute procs ofcourse.

Simcraft show me that my best DPS must be near 1 860 000. But in fact my dps near 1.4M (maximum).

Safety not Guaranteed is an English speaking Alliance raiding guild on Emerald Dream. We raid 3 times a week and are mainly focused on mythic raiding.
      Current Progress:
      7/7M, 3/3M, 10/10M, 7/9M ToS, 2/11M Antorus
      Recruitment:
We are currently recruiting the following classes to progress with us through Antorus:
      Melee DPS: DH
Ranged DPS: Mage, Warlock, Druid, Priest
      Healer (1): Druid, Shaman
      Our raiding schedule is:
      - Thursday: 20.00 - 23.00 (server time)
      - Monday: 20.00 - 23.00 (server time)
      - Tuesday: 20.00 - 23.00 (server time)
      Apply here: http://safetynotguaranteed.guildlaunch.com/
Even if we are not actively recruiting your class, we will consider any exceptional applications.
      About us:
Safety not Guaranteed (SnG) was initially formed on horde side by a small group of friends in early MoP, raiding 10man heroic. Later during the expansion we faction changed to Alliance and expanded our roster to a 20man mythic team, where we cleared SoO mythic as a guild. Many of us have been playing together since as early as WotLK, and have friendships with each other that extend outside the game as well.
Our goal ever since the guild was formed has been to progress through content at a steady pace, without hardcore hours, while having a good time together. We aim to clear each tier before the next one is released. In WoD we cleared 7/7M, 10/10M, 13/13M when relevant, and have cleared each tier so far in Legion obtaining most mythic cutting edge achievements, and plan to continue doing so.
      What we offer:
A structured mythic raiding team and raiding times. We start invites 19:45 and begin to clear trash so we can have the first pulls at 20:00 A fair rotation and loot distribution via loot council. We keep spreadsheets! A steady guild with a good community and good guild atmosphere. You may encounter some trolling during your stay. A focused attitude during progression, and relaxed attitude during farm content. We like to chat and have fun, but focus during difficult content. A desire to raid. We often run an extra raid day on the 1st week of a new raid tier. This is 100% optional, but most people are excited to get into a new instance. Additionally we often run some sort of alt raids on fridays (100% optional), and do a lot of mythic+ content within the guild.
      What we want from you:
High attendance. We expect a minimum of 80% attendance, though most of our raiders have near to 100%. We run a small roster to minimize rotation, and want to be able to rely on you. Commitment. We don't want someone who is looking to join, get geared and then leave. We have a 2-3 week trial period during which we will control gearing while we get to know you. Honesty. If you're having problems within the guild, or have real life issues, we'd like to hear rather than you just disappearing. Talk to us. Be prepared! This means reading up on new fights, having consumables (flask, pots, food, runes), gemming and enchanting properly, and being on time! Communication. We want you to know how to communicate both verbally and in writing. We use TeamSpeak for communicating in raids, though we also have a guild discord! Raiding awareness. We want you to not stand in fire, unless it's required... Progression oriented attitude. Everyone makes mistakes, but learning is part of progression, so we value people who continue to improve over time. Understanding. Sometimes, things don't always go smoothly. We may hit a wall on a specific boss for a while, or you may have to sit for someone else during a progression raid. This is part of mythic raiding. We try to treat everyone fairly, and are open to feedback.
For more information you can add an officer to chat: Joana#2806, Kitty#2896, Noxxus#2229

      Hi everyone,
I, like many others, are trying to maximize DPS for their respective classes, mine in particular being ret paladin.
In general, it seems like there are several sources of information for dps for each class.
Icy Veins Mr Robot Raidbots (Simulation Craft) Warcraft Logs Each with its own set of criteria as to what determines high dps. And I find inconsistency when bouncing between the different sources. I want to understand what am I missing when it comes to each. I will lay out what I currently understand, and would like some feedback as to what I may not be considering in each as well as some advice as to what other options I could be exploring (resources) to further the insight into whats applicable for my current state.
      Icy Veins
For Icy Veins, in particular, the stat weights, are mostly vaguely determined. From the ret guide:

If I am reading this right, its Mastery >= Haste > Ver >= Crit = Str
      Mr Robot
I use the addOn and I subscribe for the Best In Bags function. When I plug in my information in, the site recommends that I go with my 2pce t20 and balance around my legendaries with a focus on haste pieces (haste gems are emphasized).
      https://www.askmrrobot.com/wow/simulator/report/a42136294c7f40b2b7ee78023306d786
Stat weights as listed in MrRobot:
      MrRobot Stat Weights
From what I am seeing, Crit is most emphasized, and the one crit gem + ring crit enchants were originally recommended by MrRobot here. Also another notable thing here is haste being way behind crit's potential.
      RaidBots (Simc)
For RaidBots, I use the addOn, and play around with various items I hoard, and use the stat weights functions. Generally the feedback I get here are to stick with the current gem setup and with regards to stat weights, emphasize at my current setup with crit. It also says I should drop some of my high ilvl pieces (935 head, and 960 chest) for 4pce (915 head, lfr 890 chest)
      Gear simc:
      https://www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/d3Qbkf6nqpoP4bxQ9YB2m
      Stat Weights:
      https://www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/6NkVYwEaTW26FxD4wBwey4
      Vers -> crit -> mastery -> haste -> str
      (versitality first?)
      Warcraft Logs
I mostly use Warcraft Logs to check what the top dps players (ret pallys) are hitting and what setups are they running. I don't want to specifically link player armories in here, but upon some investigation, you'll find most are just stacking haste
      ---
I understand stat weights are relative, however it seems like everyone has different priorities, one says mastery, another vers, another crit, another haste?
      Help me understand.
      Thanks,
      Exploit

I feel like I should be performing better as a frost mage at my specific level. If some of you don't mind taking a look at my logs and letting me know what I could do to improve, it would help me out a lot.
A lot of people have told me once i get bracers and shard that my dps will normalize for my ilvl. Is this true? I follow the standard for frost mage st rotation: dont eat Ice-lance procs, don't waste insta flurries, spend flurries by frostbolt>flurry>Ice-lance, etc. If I am missing something, please let me know.
Here are some logs to look at.
