wow Gold Making: Obliterating JWC Amulets

A nice thing I've noticed is some crafted amulets from Jewelcrafting are on the Auction House cheaper than the price of ObliterumObliterum. It doesn't apply to all realms, but it's highly probable on more populated ones.

Crafted 815 Necklaces

  • Always yield between 110-150 Obliterum AshObliterum Ash, so in average, it's 1.3x ObliterumObliterum per amulet.
  • The quickest way to check prices is looking them up on the Undermine Journal under Jewelcrafting.

Demonstration

For this I'll be using US-Aegwynn as an example. The current price of ObliterumObliterum is 3,164 Gold. If you visit the the Undermine Journal, you can find current prices of necklaces under Jewelcrafting.

What this tells me is that Sylvan Maelstrom AmuletSylvan Maelstrom Amulet can be purchased for 3,461 Gold. Obliterating it will give me 1.3 - 1.5x ObliterumObliterum, so that's at least 4,113 Gold. If we subtract the investment, I just made 949 Gold.

Calculation Formula

It comes down to two variables:

  • ObliterumObliterum price of your realm
  • Lowest 815 JWC amulet price
(Obliterum Price* 1.3) - Necklace Investment = Profit.

Obliterum Prices

The price of ObliterumObliterum is still good and Blizzard is likely to buff it with every content Patch. In Patch 7.1, the item level upgrade has been upped to 855. It will definitely occur again in the future so that crafted items remain competitive with the latest raid tier.

TSM Import String

The following string checks amulet prices and compares them with the minimum buyout price of ObliterumObliterum

  • 1x ObliterumObliterum min buyout = amulet min buyout, just to be safe.
^1^T^Soperations^T^SShopping^T^SJC~`815~`Necks^T^SincludeInSniper^B^SmaxPrice^S100%~`DBMinBuyout(item:124125)^SrestockQuantity^N0^SrestockSources^T^t^SshowAboveMaxPrice^B^t^t^t^SgroupOperations^T^S^T^SMailing^T^N1^S^t^SAuctioning^T^N1^S^t^SCrafting^T^N1^S^t^SVendoring^T^N1^S^t^SShopping^T^N1^SJC~`815~`Necks^t^SWarehousing^T^N1^S^t^t^t^SgroupExport^Si:130233,i:130234,i:130235,i:130236,i:130237,i:130238,i:130239,i:130240,i:130241,i:130242,i:130243,i:130244^t^^

Credits go to Ficxgo4ari for the string

If % Max Price = 100% then 1x ObliterumObliterum = JWC necklace, if 120%, then it's 1.2x ObliterumObliterum.

I'm not sure if others have posted this as well (I'm not seeing any other comments, but might be because it's a new account I suppose). But on my realm the price of each maelstrom sapphire is roughly 1200-1500g, so it takes 4 of those + the other ingredients and the 5 bloods of sargeras which are inherently worth around 1200g themselves each (if you use them for 200 resources, and then use those resources for the 750g +750gbonus missions and get the bonus, I believe that is the math).

So basically bare minimum the mats here are worth around 10,000g, and you're making roughy 1.3 of the obliterum, so you are losing 4800g with each one. Or if you don't take the blood price into consideration since it's only for each mission and those are only available roughly two times a day, then it's at least costing you 4800g for the maelstrom sapphire and that is IF it only takes you 4 which means the recipe is lvl 3.

I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer or an arse I swear; I've actually read a few of these articles that have helped me make gold. But I don't feel the math here adds up.

Swasie, the post isn't tell you to make Necklaces and then obliterate them. It is telling you to buy the cheap ones from the auction house and make a profit from other peoples stupidity.

Unfortunately not quite worth on my realm.

People make these as its the only way to get 800 in JC (outside of DMF) and access the 200 primary stat gems, but the necklaces themselves have limited uses unless they roll an actually good stat for the class hence why people sell them relatively cheaply compared to crafting cost - they must also not know how much obliterum you get from them.

This is key in so many gold-making methods. Ignorance is our best friend :D

I noticed that a few hours after I posted it but forgot to go back and change it. I had a feeling something was wrong and went back and re-read it. I thought you couldn't obliterate things made by others, but that's fantastic!
