Siege of Orgrimmar Soloing Potential

Recommended Posts

EubbpBu.jpg

With Patch 7.1, Siege of Orgrimmar became soloable. Here are some reasons why you should add the raid to your weekly farming routine.

One of the best undocumented changes in Patch 7.1 was making Galakras soloable. It only takes two shots from the cannon to bring her down, giving a lot of potential to Siege of Orgrimmar in terms of soloing.

Why would you be interested in that? For a few reasons, Shamans can get an awesome transmog set, Hunters can tame new mechanical pets and you can also see companions drop along with the usual transmogs.

Shamans

I main a shaman and SoO has been on my rotation since Patch 7.1 went live. The reason is of course the transmog set you can get from Kor'kron Shaman's TreasureKor'kron Shaman's Treasure which drops from Earthbreaker Haromm and Wavebinder Kardris.

  • It's personal loot, so any shaman in your raid has the chance to get it.
    • The chance is the same for every difficulty so no point in doing Mythic.
  • The treasure chest can also appear in the Black Market Auction House from time to time.

Hunters
As a hunter, you can tame Thok the Bloodthirsty and four different color variations of the Iron Juggernaut as pets.

The picture is a courtesy of Eyes of the Beast and check out their step-by-step taming guide for these guys.

Thok taming can be found in the video below.

Battle Pets

There are four pet drops in Siege of Orgrimmar, dropping regardless of difficulty (the droplet doesn't drop in LFR though). Any of these pets can also be found in the Unclaimed Black Market ContainerUnclaimed Black Market Container.

Transmogs

  • You can add Tier 16 sets to your collection.
  • For weapons and other loot, go to your Adventure Journal ("Shift+J" by default), find Siege of Orgrimmar and view the drops for your class.

Gold Making

  • Make sure to loot everything, as green items sell quite well for transmogs.
  • If you're an enchanter, you can disenchant the epics into Sha CrystalSha Crystal and sell them.

I've never even done Siege of Orgrimmar. Where/what/how?!

The fastest way to get there is taking the portal from Dalaran to the Shrine in Pandaria. The entrance is beneath it. It's where Big Keech is walking around if you've been crafting a lot of panthers or engineering mounts, you may remember him.

I tried to farm it on mythic. Can't be done. At least not now. Immerseus - easy but long, around 9 minutes. Next challenge is Sha - you need to have big burst to put him under 30% quickly or he will imprison you. Galakras is Immerseus all over again - easy but long. And Juggernaut is stop sign for now. Can't be soloed. I tried as windwalker and got to 30%, and witch brewmaster to 50%. He stacks laser DoT on you which will eventualy tick 250+k every two seconds. I was 870 when I tried and it was impossible. I will try a gain at 880.

Normal and heroic is soloable and easy.

To add to the topic, something prolly everyone already knows, but Bear Tartare makes Immerseus around 10239213x less annoying.

I like this tip a great deal.

Is there a guide somewhere for soloing this? I thought it was blocked by mechanics, and the 2 times I tried solo on Normal I failed.

As @Starym pointed out, use Bear TartareBear Tartare for Immerseus. The more adds you heal and/or kill during the phase, the shorted the fight will be, the Amalgamation boss is easy, just stand in and nuke it, the same with the Pandarens, just see to it that they all die within the set time frame or they will resurrect. Sha of Pride (4th boss) just requires a lot of DPS, you need to bring him down to 30% in 30 seconds or so, before he imprisons you, Galakras is easy, you just have to clear the trash and destroy 7 cannons. During the encounter there will be two packs of mobs approaching Sylvanas and the crew (before the first south tower becomes accessible).. Goblins near the south tower will work on the The Most Complicated Bomb in the WorldThe Most Complicated Bomb in the World, just be patient (in Heroic mode I believe, you need to defend them as well). Hopefully, they won't screw up the wires. After the tower's accessible, clear your way up, shoot Galakras twice and she will land, then it's just about nuke. During the Galakras encounter, don't go too far where the snipers are,  otherwise you will be one-shot with Sniped!Sniped!.  Iron Juggernaut is also just standing and nuking the boss. Same goes for Kor'kron Shamans, you don't even need to clear all the packs in front of the throne room, just fight them inside. Nazgrim back in the day was about not attacking him when Defensive StanceDefensive Stance was up, but I think the mechanic doesn't even matter right now.

I just did the Normal 10-player up to Nazgrim, I stopped, because I didn't get my transmog set :(

Mind you, Sha's DPS requirement is only on Mythic, as the imprisonment is the Mythic only mechanic.  You have ~38 seconds to do 70% of his life (~22M), or roughly 580k dps required.  At 873 on my monk, I was consistently 3-5% off of making it (I've got too much haste and not enough crit/mastery imo).  Immerseus isn't hard, just long (took ~11.5mins on Mythic).  Protectors I had to switch to Brewmaster for on Mythic because the damage intake was just too much, and even then I got pretty low a few times.  Almalgamation is just sit there and nuke it, fairly easy.

No, Corrupted Prison is the imprisonment and Banishment is the mythic-only mechanic.

And the undocumented change to Galakras is that you are able to shoot her down because the stun duration has been increased.

Ok, my mistake.  The banishment is what happens at ~38s on Mythic (the meaning/effect is the same though, you have 38s to do 70% of Sha's life).

Yeah I was asking specifically about this. It didn't work out for me when I tried, but I will try again.

Oh I hadn't even thought about Sha Crystals. I just auto assumed old materials wouldn't be worth very much.

I shall have to look into this.

As an Enhance Sham (870) I was able to full clear by myself, so you are just entirely wrong. Granted, I had to use potions on Sha and Shamans to beat them to their one-shot mechanics, but if you can pull over 800-900k dps burst (almost every class can) then it's not that hard. Don't tell people they can't do it when I've done it. You just have to be good & geared.

I based that on my experience. Even with my insane wildwalker burst and selfheal toolkit I wasn't able to down Juggernaut and his stupid stacking DoT. If you were able to down it, kudos to you.  Maybe enhacement have even better burst. And bloodlust to that. And yes, I could use drums, I guess. But that extra haste is not that good for me.

I will try that again soon, I have 881 after tonight. But the thought of going through Immerseus and Galakras... well maybe not so soon :-)

Regardless of how good Haste is for you, it is still a huge buff to DPS.

Cross-Realm Mythic Eternal Palace opens next week and Blizzard just announced nerfs for Lady Ashvane and Queen Azshara on Mythic difficulty to go live with it on October 22.
      Blizzard (Source)
      Hello!
Earlier this week, the Mythic Hall of Fame for Azshara’s Eternal Palace reached its capacity, and guilds around the world have until the next weekly reset in each region to earn their Feat of Strength. At that time, Mythic difficulty will become available to cross-realm groups.
Along with the closure of the Hall of Fame and the Achievement, we intend to make the following tuning changes during weekly maintenance in each region:
      Dungeons and Raids
Azshara’s Eternal Palace Lady Ashvane Lady Ashvane’s health reduced by 5% in Mythic difficulty. Waterlogged periodic damage reduced by 10% in Mythic difficulty. Rippling Wave damage reduced by 10% in Mythic difficulty. Queen Azshara The "Stand Together!" and "Stay!" decree combination is no longer possible in Heroic difficulty. Overzealous Hulk and Tidemistress health reduced by 10% in Mythic difficulty. Draining Azshara’s Ancient Ward now reduces its energy by an additional 5 points in all difficulties. Empowering a Ward of Power now increases its energy by an additional 5 points in all difficulties. Healer-specialization characters are now less likely to be targeted with decree combinations that include “March!” in all difficulties. Short Circuit now drains 10% less energy from the affected Ward in all difficulties. Essence of Azeroth now has an increased duration if there are fewer than 20 players in the raid in Normal and Heroic difficulties, and lasts 30 seconds (was 25) in Mythic difficulty. As always, we’ll let you know here if we decide to make any further changes.
      Thank you very much!

Our preview of Patch 8.3 continues with a first look at racial abilities of the upcoming Allied Races.
      Mechagnome Racials
Mechagnomes have two active abilities available at level 24. The first one allows you to summon clones to distract enemies and the second one allows you to open locked chests and doors that require Lockpicking.
Hyper Organic Light Originator - Summon Organic Light duplicates to distract your foes. (Instant, 3 min cooldown) Skeleton Pinkie - Allows opening of locked chests and doors that require a skill level of up to 600. (1.5 min cooldown) As a Mechagnome, your limbs work as a Blacksmithing Anvil, Cooking Fire, and Mining Forge. You have a self-heal at your disposal, which heals you for a fifth of your total health whenever you fall below 20% health. The final passive racial passive gradually increases your primary stat (Int/Str/Agi) by 50 every 5 seconds, up to a maximum of 400 when fighting the same target.
The following racial passives are available to Mechagnomes:
Combat Analysis - You gather and analyze combat data every 5 sec, increasing your primary stat by 50, stacking up to 8 times. The data decays while out of combat. Mastercraft - You function as a personal Blacksmithing Anvil, Cooking Fire, and Mining Forge. In addition, your limbs include every profession tool. [NYI] Re-Arm - When you fall below 20% health, heal for 20% of your maximum health. This effect cannot occur more than once every 2.5 min. Languages - Common, Gnomish. Vulpera Racials
Active abilities embrace the scavenger/camping fantasy of the Vulpera. You can set up a camp and return back on a 1-hour cooldown. Next, you have a bag of tricks, used to heal your allies or deal damage to enemies.
Bag of Tricks - Pull your chosen trick from the bag and use it on target enemy or ally. Enemies take 14 damage, while allies are healed for 28. (Instant, 1.5 min cooldown) Rummage Your Bag - Change the contents of your Bag of Tricks. Now where did you put that...? [NYI] (5 sec cast, 5 min cooldown) Make Camp - Make a camp at this location. Can only be used outdoors. (5 sec cast) The racial creates a camp with fire, a tent and an explosive backpack at your location. You can use Return to Camp as your secondary Hearthstone on a 60-minute cooldown to return back. The camp is visible for others for five minutes and then disappears.

Return to Camp - Return to your camp. (10 sec cast, 60 min cooldown) When used, there's a short cutscene with a caravan transporting you back to your camp starts playing.

Passive abilities include a Fire damage reduction by 1%, 5% damage reduction when you first take an enemy hit, and you can find additional bags of goods whenever you kill a humanoid.
The following racial passives are available to the Vulpera:
Fire Resistance - Reduces Fire damage taken by 1%. Nose For Trouble - When you first take damage from an enemy, reduce that damage by 5% of your maximum health. Vulpera Survival Kit - You have a chance to find an additional satchel of goods when you kill a humanoid. Languages - Orcish, Vulpera. Other Patch 8.3 Content:

Ny'alotha Allseer is a N'Zoth-themed mount added to the game in Patch 8.3. It is rewarded from a quest and could very well be the end-of-expansion reward for everyone, who defeats N'Zoth on Heroic difficulty before the next expansion, similar to Legion's Kirin Tor Summoning Crystal.

Last week, Blizzard added Death Knight creature textures for Allied Races and the Pandaren along with encrypted sound files of Bolvar and Darion Mograine to the game. In this week's PTR build, four Death Knight Swords have been added.
If Allied Races and the Pandaren will indeed be able to become Death Knights in Patch 8.3, it would make perfect sense to revamp the starting zone, because the current one is outdated now that Bolvar is the Lich King.
Blizzard added four Ebon Blade swords to the game on 8.3 PTR that will likely be rewarded to new Death Knights created in Visions of N'Zoth as part of the overhauled starting experience.
