Frost DK - DPS Check / Tips on Improvement

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I will begin by saying I am rather new to playing frost in PvE/Raiding and while I don't necessarily feel that I am under performing, I do have the feeling that there is always room for improvement. I would love to hear the input of those experienced with raiding as a frost DK to my gameplay displayed via the logs below.

I will include my armory, logs of a heroic EN raid over two nights, as well as some info on rotation/gear/consumables.

Armory:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/malganis/Dohneld/simple

Logs, 2 separate logs - first for the first few bosses in Heroic EN and the second for the final 3 bosses:

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/jHNn8gZJTw1Ac9WP#fight=2&type=damage-done

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/daRrZLJw2DFXQYfx/#type=damage-done&fight=4

Rotation Notes:

I am generally starting with a strong opener including PoF/Countermeasure trinket "Sheathed in Ice" along with prolonged power prepot. The first night I ran Obliteration and the second night I ran GA to try it out. I am attempting to line up cd's with things such as Bloodlust but it is certainly one area I could improve upon.

I am probably frost striking a little more than necessary, I can say that there are times I am hitting FS when icy talons will not be falling off within a second. Sometimes I'm doing it right at the end, sometimes its closer to 2 seconds before IT falls off, if that makes sense. In my own playstyle running GA felt a little more smooth as I could probably use more practice with Obliteration.

In game stats (appear different from armory for some reason):

My ilvl increased over these two nights, starting at 859 and ending at 863 or 864.

As of today I have:

Crit - 26%

Haste - 17%

Mastery - 32%

Vers - 5%

I hope I'm not leaving any pertinent information out, if you have any questions feel free to ask away. I very much welcome the critique of anyone with some to offer. When I raid I tend to get very heavy into doing research and testing things out to maximize the output of my raid spot. Topping meters would be great but I am more just wanting to feel that I am performing as best as I possibly can.

Thanks!

Already after a quick look, Frozen pulse could be improved you need to stay 2 runes or less a bit more often. You could use more haste, also your mastery is kind of low you really don't need 25% crit it's a slight help but meh. You should be using Icecaps it's better than Avalanche. Your uses of pillar of frost are a little delayed i should also mention try and get those off right away like the second they come off CD they don't cost runes or anything so it's not to hard to do. That's a bout it, if you want to post your logs next week or something I can revise them and see if there is anything you could improve on those are the main concerns though.

Thanks Drtain, really appreciate the input.

I will gather further logs from the coming weekend and come back here with some more info. In the meantime I'll work on your advice.

If a big one is frost pulse uptime I think the best method may be trying to maximize the number of Obliterate casts and only casting frost strike when icy talons is close to falling off?

Edit: I'm at 866 equipped now and sim about 279k. I sim the highest with str/ haste 850 WQ trinket and 845 faulty countermeasure. Stats are as follows:

Critical 25%

Haste 20%

Vers 3%

Mastery 31%

I'm at work now so I can't totally verify but I'll circle back later. I'm imagining the 300k DPS point comes around 870 gear level. Is this fairly accurate or should I be higher than where I am now DPS/sim wise? My trinkets and relics are probably the main things that need improvement gear wise.

Thanks for reading

Basically how priority goes is something along the lines of Icy talons uptime> below 2 runes> Rime procs>KM procs> Dot uptime. I will say that might not be perfect there is situations when others might gain priority but as a -base- rule of thumb I'd suggest going with that.

A guild formed with an ambition for progression and a love for M+ we decided to make the move from Silvermoon Alliance and form a guild to take our focus to the next level, Cutting Edge in 10.1 being the next step.
We believe in building a guild by recruit players of a similar goal and mentality whether it be for raiding or for push score in Mythic plus. We value loyalty, honesty and a positive attitude towards setbacks. Communication skills are an absolute must.

What are we looking for recruitment wise?
We're currently open to recruiting DPS classes listed above, as we aim to solidify a stable 25-player roster. We're looking to provide competition to existing members and choose the best 25 players to proceed with for next tier.

Welcome Adventurers! The time has come upon us, FINALLY! The moment in Classic WoW history us diehard, loyal WoW nerds have all been waiting for. WRATH CLASSIC! Arthas Did Nothing Wrong (ADNW) has just begun recruiting (For WotLK Classic) hard-core, casual, rp, pvp, pve, raiders, anything you can think of, you are welcomed here. Although our main focus in ADNW will be progressive raiding, 10 and 25 man and pvp content, we look to have someone for just about anything. Currently we are recruiting for our CORE 10M team composed entirely of irl / internet homies. We are in need of just 1 HEALER (Highly prefer a disc priest with a shadow off spec) and another DPS. Preferably lock or Shadow priest. We are looking to fill our B 10m team entirely, so we can pool together for 25 man’s when it comes time to crush 25m. This guild was founded by a group of tight nit friends recently, who have been around since TBC. WOTLK was our turning point in WoW, and we CANNOT wait to get another crack at this and MAKE IT RIGHT. Come join the adventure of a chill environment full of helpful hands and knowledge. Feel free to reach out to me Via Discord: Daevilmonkiexp#9239 OR Bnet: Daevilmonkie#1280 just let me know you are interested in the guild and we can have a convo! ARTHAS DID NOTHING WRONG!

Thursday 19:30 to 23:00 Realm Time
      Approach to Raiding
We have a relaxed and chilled approach to raiding, but still expect people to make an effort.
As long as you don't show up freshly dinged in levelling greens, and make an effort to improve your gear and skills and show up to raids,
that is all we expect. We are here to enjoy ourselves, not push logs.
      About us
We are a chilled community who enjoys hanging out in discord while playing the game.
Karazhan is on farm, we are now looking to bolster our ranks to create a solid reliable 25 man raid team moving forward.
      What We Offer
A mature environment for levelling and group play
Progressive but relaxed end game experience
A fun, helpful and inclusive atmosphere
      What We Expect
People willing to help build and grow a serious, successful and fun TBC raiding guild. We don’t care about your spec, everyone is welcome. While we are a casual guild, we still expect people to make an effort. Showing up freshly dinged in levelling greens won’t make the raiding experience fun for anyone.
      Our Aims
Our aims are to clear all the raid content in tbc in a relaxed and fun way. We were close to 25 raiders at 70 and ready to start raiding, but a lot of people quit the game and we are in need of new recruits for our 25-man raid teams. Anyone just interested in chilling in discord and to get to know new people are also welcome.

      Healers : high
      Ranged DPS : high
      Melee DPS : high
