Tier 19 Sets

Nighthold sets obtained on Mythic difficulty look a little different from the rest of Tier 19. Our early Tier 19 preview didn't include images so this is an update. Nighthold sets have 6 pieces and drop from Tichondrius, Elisande, Trilliax, Krosus, Star Augur Etraeus & Gul'dan. Below are screenshots of all classes. Nighthold will be released on January 17.

That Male Blood Elf Paladin has 2 x Ashbringers. How?

Quite simple, they thought: If we give the paladin such a ugly looking set, lets pimp it up with a second Ashbringer =D

Overall I think these look pretty great, kind of disappointed that everything seems to just be recolors though.  I get that there is a ton of work that goes into the design, just wish these got me excited like they used to vs. just going back to my transmog.

After reviewing the final models, here my summary:

DK: how can they walk with such freaking boots?

DH: Is this a set or a stripper-outfit?

Druid: *throw some bread on the ground* here for you, little...bird?

Hunter: there is a rumor that the color is sparkling in the sun...otherwise there would be no reason to choose such an ugly one.

Mage: hahahaha....ok, wait...no, still laughin´

Monk: Are this tiny little....buubles? Oo

Paladin: Developer: "Well, they are still overtuned, lets give them a set that every other can have with items from emerald nightmare...normal mode. And that noone will recognize, give them two Ashbringer!"

Priest: 1. Open a horadrimcube 2. Throw in T1 and T2 3. Use the cube...taaadaaa!

Rogue: Ok, this looks like a rogue!

Shaman: This looks just great!

Warlock: Boom, take my money!

Warrior: No wait, give me back my money....oh noe, keep it, still laughin' because of mage!

The priest set would better fit the mage when it had a different color maybe, but I like it! The only set I dislike is the mage set. The green outlines on the helmet and shoulders remind me of the green borders you get when you hover your mouse over NPCs or other players. Pally is quite good, I like when they wear kilts instead of heavy armor, reminds me of Tier 6. I'd kill for that DK or Druid. I can't say I'm disappointed with this tier. I'm interested to see Tier 20 from the Tomb of Sargeras. It has been confirmed that Tier 6 models will be reworked with the new engine.

I suppose paladin could be worse.  At least I don't look like a purple crystal power ranger.

We weren't worthy of looking like that. The power ranger set was the best :D

While it's no surprise many game developers and producers spent time playing WoW, hearing that Valve co-founder and internet santa Gabe Newell actually spent time intensively farming gold in it is slightly more surprising. While talking to Edge magazine (issue 344) he mentioned how, while doing research on games as productivity platforms, he decided to farm gold in World of Warcraft to see if it was worth it.
And he turned out to be pretty good at it, as his efforts started netting him around $20 per hour, which in turn proved to him that the concept was sound and that realization lead to the addition of the Steam Workshop, where Steam users could create their own content for the games they were playing, starting with the now legendary Team Fortress 2 hats, and peaking with the insane prices for certain CS: GO skins.

This particular skin went for over $60,000, with a signature
of a pro player, and it's "only" worth $20,000 without it.
And so, without the monotony of gold farming, we may not have gotten the Steam Workshop, so the next time you're feeling annoyed at having to grind that 5 mil for the Brutosaur, just think of all the things we wouldn't have had if items in WoW were cheaper!

Reddit user Mothka continues with the theme of animals in World of Warcraft, and this time, we have notable Battle for Azeroth quest givers transformed into various beasts. Can you guess who's who?

Now's the time to check your answers!

Rextroy is back after a bit of a soloing absence, and he's gotten some gear ready in 8.3 - so naturally it was time to head into the current raid and solo a boss! Prophet Skitra is the second or third boss of the raid, depending on whether you pick her or Maut after Wrathion, and in this World First video we get a little extra explanation on how he did it by Rextroy (head to 5:36 in the video for that part).

You can also check out our in-depth interview with the man himself, as he goes over some of his more controversial tactics and discusses the difference between an exploit and creative use of game mechanics, as he had a bit of experience with the subject after being banned and unbanned for a solo kill he did (the 0.5 second Vectis kill).

There are some pretty cool discoveries he had to make about the boss mechanics to pull it off so it's definitely worth a watch:
