DPS questions for MM Hunter

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can take a look at our guild hunter's DPS for the last TOV fights we did.  I don't really know hunters that well but am trying to help them get their damage up to par.  I would say that the fights particular would be either odyn or guarm.  I am not sure if its a stat problem, or some kind of rotation issue.  Any help would be appreciated. they are wildskies and sheffinade.

here are the logs.  https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/9gjTZcLmKkqQ7z4N#fight=3

Straight up I can see a couple of things that can be easy fixes. This is based off the Guarm kill on 29th Dec by the way. I'll have a look at some of his other logs to give a more rounded view too.

1) Burst shot, I can see he has the legendary bracers but the damage you get from it isn't worth using for the GCD. He'd get more out of not using that ability at all on a single target fight. It becomes quite useful when you have multiple targets, or targets that can/need to be CC'ed.

2) Trueshot - on the Guarm kill, he used it once at the start of the fight but didn't use it again - this is one of the best cooldowns in the game in my opinion, especially combined with the Bullseye trait. He gets 50% extra crit damage, and 30% extra crit chance (if timed right), as well as 40% haste. Not using this in the execution phase of the fight is a MAJOR dps loss.

3) A Murder of Crows over barrage? Barrage is by far the better talent for MM, this is an easy change

4) On a nearly 4 minute fight he cast Windburst 4 times. This should be done almost on cooldown.

5) His opener seems to be lacking any impact, tell him to read the icy-veins guide and memorise it and practise it on the target dummies over and over again until he gets it perfect every time.

6) Devilsaur's bite is quite a poor trinket unless it's titanforged and towards the 860-870 ilvl range. The lack of agi on this trinket isn't made up by the proc. He would do better getting an 845 stat stick. Devilsaur's Bite is only good for single target, it gets progressively worse on multiple targets, whereas agi/mastery stat stick would scale exponentially higher.

7) Despite the Zevrim's Hunger legendary ring, I see he's lacking quite a lot of Marked Shot casts.

8) In general these are the main things to be looked at. This needs to be adjusted as soon as possible.

Hmm. I also just noticed you asked for both hunters to be looked at, so I'll add the stuff for Sheffinade below. The above applies to Wildskies.

1) I'll just say that all the same advice applies to Sheffinade too. MM is a basic spec, these are quite simple mistakes and can be fixed just by paying more attention to the Icy-Veins guide and a little bit of practise.

2) Sheffinade has an 860 versa stat stick, even an 840 mastery one would be a lot better purely because of the mastery increase.

As an aside, without sounding rude, I can see a lot of your raiders aren't performing where they could be and a lot of them could do with spending some time on Icy-Veins really following the guide and practising their rotation/openers until they're perfect. I'm sure if you get that under control you'll end up with a far more competent raid team and Nighthold will be quite easy for you.

Please don't hesitate to ask any additional questions if you have them.

<Pickle Palace> is a recently formed guild on Illidan, but is made up of veteran players who wanted to take a step back from semi-hardcore raiding. We are currently raiding Mythic Antorus (9/11), with our goal being to finish it out before the end of the expansion. Our community is actively playing outside of raid time, pushing M+ and hanging out on discord.

We raid on a 2 day schedule. Our raid days are Tuesday and Wednesday 9-12 EST. And will be adding a 3rd raid day for BfA! (Thursday or Monday)

      We are currently recruiting,

Hi everyone. I just killed HC Varimathras and I was surprised by my low damage. There was not second time warp because we used the first one at 20% HP but I think I should get higher numbers. Can anyone tell me what did I do wrong? Was it really only in TW? I do not think so :/.

Looking for a fun, casually serious progression guild? Hordeland Security could be your new home! We started at launch, and have raided on Blackhand, Baelgun, and now Turalyon.

We currently raid on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00- 9:15 Central Time. We understand that no one has an unlimited amount of time to play. We raid with a fun, casual, yet goal oriented focus; we achieve AotC in current content and then progress into Mythic. We also have a few that pvp, and we've been known to also do mog/achievement runs.
      Interested? Drop us a line!

lil ol' me - Maplefire#1200 - (mention you're from the Icy Veins thread in the friend request so my brain won't explode)
Thanks for your consideration - happy raiding!

I'm not entirely sure what I am doing wrong that is getting me this result, but I am getting about a 30k dps difference on training dummy when I use a defile, clawing shadows, shadow infusion build than when I use the recommended talents. I left the rest of my talents unchanged and I have yet to see where the dps difference is coming from (arbiter or clawing shadows), but I'm very confused as to how this could happen. Defile damage breakdown, Arbiter damage breakdown
I felt like I had a harder time keeping my disease up and using coldheart on cooldown (or rather whenever at max stacks) with the arbiter build. Am I missing some key thing or do I just need to git gud? Thanks in advance for any help.
