Valeera Spotlight

Recommended Posts

The official spotlight for the upcoming Assassin Valeera Sanguinar was released today.

Blizzard LogoBlizzard Entertainment

For a time, the gladiator Valeera Sanguinar served dutifully as one of Varian Wrynn’s personal bodyguards. Now, her shadowy skills find her a natural fit within the secretive rogue order, the Uncrowned, in their fight against the Legion. A master of stealth combat, who is as quick as her daggers are deadly, Valeera is prepared to strike at the Nexus from the shadows as our newest melee assassin.

Hopefully you like Valeera and we'll see you in the Nexus!

Love the new design and style of the spotlight. Valeera looks overpowered with this two heroics abilities, give her so much survivability.

Really like Valeera's design though I'm afraid she might be a little op du to her stealth and combo potential.  Definitely feels stronger than Nova and Zeratul when it comes to bursting a single target down. So bad news for solo laning squishys like Naz

I'm nervous that Garrote does so much damage... Very rarely do you need the damage to be completely instant to kill someone and a silence is huge. Vanish might need a much longer CD. Just like in WoW for pvp Vanish is a game changer in a fight, and since she is unrevealable for the first second, she will ALWAYS get a second opener.

I hope the trailer is a hint that they will add Broll. We need him in the Nexus.

I hope that he could be the first feral druid in the game. :)

not sure this is true - I'm pretty sure that vanish doesn't start it's cooldown till you leave stealth, so when you open from stealth you have to last for 8 seconds before re-vanishing (easier said than done, as her ult is her only other defensive tool).

after playing her a bit on the PTR I'm not feeling too worried actually. My first impression would be that she is fun and has a strong, interesting kit, but her tuning leaves her feeling far from OP.

Like other stealth characters she is a complete PUG-stomper but beyond that she seems to have a lot of counterplay  both on an individual level and during hero select - her damage is not out of control and energy is actually something of a liability (when doing well, I often found I needed to retreat/vanish to refill energy when a mana character like zeratul would have just gone HAM on the remaining enemies and worried about regen after they were dead)

Just my 2c ofc, PTR is crazy for matchmaking so we'll have to see once she goes live.

He will be added in the future, but not so soon. We've got Varian recently and after Valeera I think the devs will focus on other universes, not Warcraft.

Can confirm, as on live. When playing around with bots and players separately, as bots always group together and travel as a pack and focus whoever is dealing most damage, it is very difficult to pick off important enemy team mates with Valeera as long as the enemy is talking and aware that she opened. That being said, she is a pug-stomper. By far, one of the heaviest pug stompers I have seen. With her Garrote silence and a strong garrote/Q build as well as a good ambush build, she can render a team useless if they let their healer get caught because she will be in and out of your life faster than a father. I think she can be countered, and countered well though, by healers alone. Healers with powerful stuns, good escapes, and that stick to the team will make it so that Valeera's usefulness goes from a pug stomper to a simple split-push stopper until the enemy team splits up. Maybe I'm wrong though, I don't play HotS as much as I should, but Valeera is changing that. Hehe.
