Blizzard has announced the third installment of its Heroes of the Dorm collegiate tournament. This year, Facebook will host the event.

The popular Heroes of the Storm collegiate tournament, that brought to the surface popular Heroes players like MichaelUdall, Fan and more, is back for its 2017 installment. The primary info on the prizes and the competition dates was published officially and team registrations are now open!

An interesting change this year is that the entire event will be broadcast solely on Facebook. This was also confirmed by a press release by Blizzard Entertainment. This means that we won't see the finals on television (the finals from 2015 and 2016 were shown on ESPN 2), nor will we be able to watch VoDs on YouTube or Twitch.

A last crucial detail is this: are we getting a Cheerleader Kerrigan skin?!

Ready for another round of Heroes of the Storm college esports action? Heroes of the Dorm is returning once again for more prizes, more rivalries, and more intense action in the Nexus, with Cheerleader Kerrigan leading the charge! College students from both the United States and Canada are eligible to participate in this epic clash of the colleges, and with the winner’s remaining college tuition being paid off, you can expect to see some fierce competition!

It will be even easier for esports fans to follow Heroes of the Dorm week in and week out in 2017, with the entirety of the tournament being streamed exclusively on Facebook! That means you’ll be able to follow your favorite team from the regular season all the way to the Heroic Four, with constant action being delivered right to your Facebook feed. If you’re looking for a more in-depth look at Heroes of the Dorm, you can also head to www.heroesofthedorm.com to keep up with statistics, the Bracket Challenge, Pick ‘em Challenge, and more.

There will still be VOD.  Blizzard creates the videos from their event, then hosts them via YouTube.  It will be broadcast LIVE only on FaceBook.  However, VOD will be available after Blizzard uploads the clips to YouTube.

An issue with Matchmaking Rating seeding from the previous Season caused players to be placed at significantly different ranks from where they ended in the last Season. In order to fix the issue, Blizzard will be resetting the Hero and Team League records (including placement matches) of any affected accounts tomorrow.

With yesterday’s patch, a number of players unfortunately encountered an issue that caused them to be placed at ranks that were significantly different from where they ended the previous season. This issue is unrelated to our Performance-Based Matchmaking implementation, and is instead a result of an issue with Matchmaking Rating seeding from the previous season. We’ve finished diagnosing the problem and are currently working on a fix which, once completed, means that we will be resetting the Hero and Team League records (including placement matches) of any affected accounts.

In order to implement the fix without taking down the servers, we will need to disable the Hero and Team League Matchmaking queues for roughly an hour. Our current plan is to start this in all regions at some point tomorrow, Dec 14, but we will keep this thread updated if anything changes. For players that have yet to complete your ranked placement matches, we recommend waiting until this issue is addressed.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this causes for those of you that have already made significant progress into Season 1 2018. We’re extremely excited to show off the major gameplay changes included in this patch, and will be working hard to implement a fix so you can experience everything the Nexus has to offer without major issues like this. Thank you very much for your patience.
