Token Madness: Availability Issues and Prices

You can't really get a token anymore on most servers and prices are spiking as demand is skyrocketing.

So, as you already know, today saw the WoW TokenWoW Token get its versatility expanded (no, not THAT versatility), as you can now also buy Battle.net balance with it, 15$ per token to be exact. This means you can get all kinds of Blizzard stuff for WoW gold, including server transfers, level boosts and, of course, stuff from other games like the new Necromancer Diablo 3 character (when it becomes available), Overwatch loot boxes, HS packs and more (but nothing from the gear store).

But, as you'd expect, today already saw a mess form around the announcement. Most servers have simply sold out on WoW tokens, so people who just want to get their subscription renewed can't (like, for example, me!) and prices have increased even further. Immediately after the announcement at 9PM CET prices in the EU and US spiked, from an already very high (in anticipation for exactly this announcement) 112K gold to 127K on EU realms, from 62K to 70K on US realms. Asia realms are unaffected so far, but their prices are already pretty huge, at 175K for Taiwan, and a staggering 224K for Korea / 240K for China. (All stats taken from Wowtoken.info.)

(A little update as of 9AM CET: EU are at 160K, US at 88K and now even Asia servers are spiking with China at an insane 286K, Taiwan at 196K and Korea at 279K.)

Lines are already forming in Auction Houses everywhere, as people wait for someone to actually buy a WoW token with real money and list it. Meanwhile there's also AH errors popping up if you're not quite fast enough on the draw, that take your gold after you click on the buy Wow Token button, but since you juuust missed it, you get an error and (thankfully) the gold arrives back in your mailbox.

For more info on the Wow token, check out our earlier announcement of the new additions.

I'm hoping the market over corrects and there's a flood of people putting them up trying to make crazy gold.

That's just it, there's going to be and already are thousands of people buying them for 15 dollars (or whatever currency unit is applicable to you) and trying to sell them but because of the huge inflated price there will be no buyers. Casual wow players who are avid hearthstone or heroes players won't invest the time to grind hundreds of thousands of gold when they could be better off just playing their respective games. I akin this to pokemons wonder trade where you could randomly trade with another player. One person had the devious idea of putting crap pokemon up to try and get something good out of it. Only problem is, everyone else had the same idea.

Depending on how this plays out though it could be an entertaining case study on the effects of inflation and market demand. Several economists have studied wow before, this may end up being another such event.

Price on my server has gone up from 150k when i logged on 3 hrz ago to 197k at the moment. How is that possible if people are not buying it ? Only reason for price to go up is if people are buying the tokens.

The price will peak, early adopters are grabbing them while they can but it will reach a point of being overstocked.  How much gold does the average player really have? After the initial grab prices will simply be too high. So as you notice we are seeing exponential growth now as people are in a mad purchasing rush, but that will fall off. Prices will be too high for the average player and even for the lower income gold seekers. Then the players that bought tokens with real currency in the hope of making wow gold will be sitting on them for awhile. That is unless there is other intervention.

Never thought I would see the day when blizzard would go pay to win. Welcome to the new era of World of Botcraft

You're a year or two late on that...

(As if having more gold in WoW = winning, anyway.)

Price goes up at 3% an hour as long as no one is buying, or so I heard...sorry if this is false.

So people are not posting their tokens waiting for higher prices...

      Patch 7.3.2
Instead of releasing Patch 7.3.5, Blizzard went with the odd numbering and released Patch 7.3.2. Main goal of the patch are bug fixes and tuning in preparation for Legion's last raid Antorus, the Burning Throne. In addition to that, the patch introduced a new Primal Sargerite vendor and some exiciting lore details have been entirely omitted from the official patch notes for obvious reasons.

      Who We Are
Tequila Sundown is a growing raid team formed within the <Karma Horde> guild on US-Stormreaver. Lead by a husband/wife team with high-level raiding experience dating back to WotLK, we're a "positively determined" progression team that maintains a light-hearted atmosphere while tackling mythic difficulty content. We're mature adults with jobs and family seeking like-minded players who have a passion for the game but want to avoid the needless angst or drama that often gets associated with progression raiding. We log on to have fun - so come have some fun with us!

      A Team Within a Community
Our raid team is one of four within the larger guild of <Karma Horde>, which was formed back during WotLK. As such, the guild and Discord are very active and social. There are always people around online and in-game. The community atmosphere is welcoming and friendly to players of all levels. The guild enforces a Code of Conduct that has zero tolerance for hate/offensive speech.

We care more about the people we play with than their item levels or progression rankings. We want players who are going to log in on non-raid nights and be down for all the other things we're into: pushing mythic+, doing world quests, PVP shenanigans, achievement hunting, hyper-competitive fishing.. there's so much to do and so many ways to enjoy the game. This is our favorite hobby and we'd like to play with you if it is yours, too.

      Progression Goals
      We are 7/11-Heroic 11/11-Normal ABT.
We strive for a fun environment that takes the challenges of mythic seriously and giving the content the respect it deserves. Our aim is, as all mythic teams, full clear of content but with always keeping the friendly spirit of camaraderie alive. Performance matters, but so does staying positive and finding the fun in the difficulty of a raid.
We do not require mythic raid experience to join our team but we do expect mythic-level dedication and accountability from all of our raiders.

      Raid Days/Times
      Our mandatory raids are:
      Tuesdays 8:45pm PT - 11:45pm PT
      Thursdays 8:45pm PT - 11:45pm PT
      Optional:
      Sundays 8:45pm PT - 11:45pm PT
Sundays are for raiding the previous raid difficulty.

      Recruitment Needs
DPS: YES. Will consider all, but would love to pick up a Hunter and a Mage for ranged, and add an Enhance Shaman, Windwalker Monk, or Survival Hunter for melee.
      Tank: NO. No current needs.

      The Nitty Gritty
If you're intrigued, please check out our wiki on the <Karma Horde> subreddit. This will give you the inside picture on how we operate as a raid team.

Today we have some nerdscreams and the raid setup from Method's Argus kill, stealth hotfixes for the encounter, overall endboss stats for all of Legion as well as the Exorsus World 2nd Aggramar kill video.
The race to World First ended today as Method continued their recent dominance of Legion's raids and took down the probably final boss of the expansion, a mere 8 days after it was released (or 7 days after they started progress). We've already covered the WF itself, but there have been plenty of new stats coming after the kill, including the wipe count and raid setup. But first let's take a look/listen to the nerdscreams as the boss went down, somewhat less enthusiastic than usual I'd have to say:

Method also shared what stealth hotfixes happened while they were progressing on the final boss, not mentioned in any official notes:
We then have the raid composition for the kill itself, featuring 12 different classes including 3 rouges, 3 mages and 2 hunters:

And on to the wipe count, it took 320 failed attempts to get the world soul down as we already mentioned, and here's a comparison table for all the Legion endbosses, including the time they stayed alive for:
Raid / Boss WF Guild Wipe Count Time to kill (from region reset) Time to kill (from previous boss)  The Emerald Nightmare
      Xavius
      Exorsus 19 17h40min
+16h from US launch 2h43min  Trial of Valor
      Helya
       Method 223 2 days 7h
+16h from US launch 2 days 1h  The Nighthold
      Gul'dan
      Exorsus 247 11 days 6h
+16h from US launch 4 days 22h The Tomb of Sargeras
      Kil'jaeden
       Method 654 19 days 5h
+16h from US launch 11 days 19h  Antorus: the Burning Throne
      Argus the Unmaker
       Method 320 7 days 8h
+16h from US launch 6 days 14h And finally, we also got to see Exorsus World 2nd Aggramar kill video:
The race itself isn't quite over yet, as only Method have managed to end the Unmaker and finish up Antorus, and so the silver is still up in the air. Will Exorsus secure their expected second place finish or will the Asia guilds climb further up in this tier? Limit has also had the reset for two days now and seeing how crucial the gear from the 2nd clear is they still have quite the head start over Style War and Alpha. And let's not forget current 4th place holders Memento, who also might make it an all EU top 3. There are quite a few combinations that are open, so keep following Method.gg's live coverage to find out how it all shakes out, or check back in here when some more kills happen.
