Tomb of Sargeras raid testing, new Broken Shore events, a CTF Brawl and more!

More additions coming to the PTR, but a somewhat smaller amount this week, including some light Tomb of Sargeras raid testing, more events on the Broken Shore, new Mage and Paladin followers and a new Brawl featuring CTF, but without the need to defend! Check out all the new features coming to the PTR:

Since there’s still a lot of testing to be done on the content we introduced last week, this week’s update will be a little bit lighter. That said, there’s still several new things being enabled for testing in this build.

This week fleshes out the Broken Shore zone a little more with the addition of the Sentinax: a Legion command ship that patrols the zone, sending in backup troops to certain areas when necessary. When it’s patrolling an area, you’ll be able to find Sentinax Beacons on nearby enemies. Use one of these beacons to cause the Sentinax to open demonic portals, which spawn more difficult creatures. When killed, those creatures drop Nethershards and crafting materials, as well as more powerful beacons that, in turn, summon more powerful creatures.

Paladins and Mages can unlock a couple new followers in this build. If you’ve quested in Ungoro, you may remember a fellow by the name of “Maximillian of Northshire.” Paladins who have completed that quest line will be able to recruit him to their cause (for better or worse). Mages, on the other hand, will need to complete their class hall questline. Once that’s finished, the Great Akazamzarak – everyone’s favorite street magician – will have an important task for you. Help him out, and he’ll join you on your adventures.

We’re planning to do a light amount of raid testing this week, primarily to check for stability and catch any major show-stopping bugs. The “real” raid testing will start next week, once we’re confident the PTR is ready. We’ll have more details to share on that schedule in the coming days.

Finally, imagine a typical game of Warsong Gulch, where your team battles to capture the enemy’s flag while defending your own. Now imagine that you don’t need to defend your flag to capture theirs – just take a quick stroll across the battlefield with it and the point is yours. Oh, and there’s a whole bunch of extra flags. And some new powerups. You end up with something called “Warsong Scramble,” and that’s the next PvP Brawl up for testing. It’ll be available all week, but we especially hope to see you during Play with the Blues on Friday!

Those are the major features we’re opening up with this build, but we’re hoping to start testing on most of the remaining 7.2 content in the next week or so – including flying, class mounts, and several other bits. Thanks again, and happy testing!

We have an entrance! As noticed by MrGM, we have an update to the intro quest that kicks things off in the Shadowlands, as a new in-game cutscene has been added which shows off exactly how we're entering the Maw. The cutscene is definitely still work in progress, as you'll see below, but suffice it to say we're entering in style (especially MrGM's Mechagnome, who gets to do the Iron Man/Terminator entrance)!
It's already pretty impressive and will only get better from here, so get your print screen buttons ready for some cool screenshots of your character raining from the sky one Shadowlands arrives! What do you think of the momentous occasion and how it's being presented?

The Revendreth short was quite a dark sight to behold, both in narrative and visual tone, but there were still plenty of striking images to be had, and our old wallpaperist NostraDavid has captured a whole lot of them in 4K! We have 31 images to take a look at (including Garrosh, both screaming and non-screaming) and pick our favorites from this time around, so let's take a look at some of our picks or you can head straight to the imgur gallery for all of them. And don't forget, there's also the Bastion, Maldraxxus and Ardenweald wallpapers to choose from as well!

We recently covered the potential/actual exploit of getting from level 50 to 60 in under 10 minutes on the beta, and Blizzard was quick to address it with today's build, by simply reinstating the equivalent level limit for the item that it had before the squish. However, there is a very simple workaround for the fix, featuring Party Sync. The original method still applies, and you'll have to get a whole lot of Legion mission table XP items using not quite legit means (you can check out the whole process here), but the workaround for the fix is simplicity itself, as Shiekrunner demonstrates in 30 seconds:
This will almost certainly also be fixed soon, but we're just pointing it out in case it does slip by unnoticed, although even if it did it seems awfully brave for anyone to attempt this, as it's very likely it would result in some level of suspension.

Torghast is going away for a while, as Blizzard have announced they're working on some issues with it, and it will not be available for a few days. This is in reference to the actual Torghast Tower of the Damned in-game, and not the somewhat confusingly named Torghast max level beta server, which is still up and running.
      Torghast (source)
So that we can address some issues with Torghast, Tower of the Damned, access to this feature has been disabled for a few days in the Shadowlands Beta.
Torghast the test realm is available.
We’ll post further updates when we’re ready to resume testing in the tower.
      Thank you!

It's that time of the new animated short release day, as the memes have accumulated since Afterlives: Revendreth released. Today is a particularly fruitful day, as we have not only a new short for image sources, but also the return of Garrosh, who's a pretty good meme topic on his own. So, let's get into it, as r/wow is brimming with potential.
We start off on the shores of Battle for Azeroth, as FiliusLuporum had a terrifying thought about Sire Denathrius. "I had a nightmare today":

      Source.
Then we move on to a reality-based one, and this one we can all feel is true as etoro-lvl60-mage says what we're all thinking:

      Source.
This particular format was used a lot and we'll probably be seeing more of it, as this next one starts us off on the Activision Blizzard side of today's memes, with Thirteenera using the format for some long-lasting issues:

      Source.
And then it's time to reveal the true nature of Sire Denathrius, as lobbl noticed some possible similarities between the two:

      Source.
But now it's on to what you're really here for, what everyone has been waiting for in the animated short, it's Garrosh memes! This first one isn't technically about Garrosh specifically, but he's featured in it, with matticus7 throwing in some solid irony:

      Source.
And now it's on to Garrosh proper, as the former Warchief had a pretty one-note appearance, which cammackattack decided to merge with the Meet the Parents meme:

      Source.
Then we're on to the definitely best line of the entire animated short, which Nyarlathotep21 incorporated into another, similar franchise:

      Source.
We're still sticking with Garrosh, but this time papanak94 went for the meta look at actual players' relationship with his character:

      Source.
The penultimate one we're taking a look at comes from a different genre of memes - that's right, Gublash made a Covenant swap meme crossover:

      Source.
And to finish things off we're going off-road with one that has nothing to do with the Revendreth short, but SaltyLocation9556 definitely encapsulated literally every player's thoughts after the Bastion short:

      Source.
