Patch 7.2: Identify Your Legendary

Recommended Posts

mdYmVNV.jpg

Blizzard's trying to fix the issue of Legendary items and loot specialization with unidentified Legendaries. Every time a Legendary item drops, you'll be able to switch between specs and then discover a Legendary appropriate for your specialization.

Update: Lore confirmed in a blue post that these were part of a concept that they won't go live with at least for now.

These were part of an experimental concept that we've since decided not to go ahead with, at least for now. The idea wasn't exactly what you're speculating, but our concerns were similar.

It's interesting that the items are bound to Battle.net Account, so you might end up mailing them to your alt (must be the same class) on a different realm.

Don't forget that crafted Legendary items are coming in 7.2 and the latest build added affixes and made them BoE.

Please note the nature of PTR. Anything may change before Patch 7.2 goes live.

Is this really the way this will work? It seems like this incentivizes us to make a bunch of alts that are the same class as our main to farm legendaries to ship over. I feel like this can't be right.

Maybe the BoA is just a placeholder. We'll have to wait and see.

Would you mind if I made a video based off this post? It's a really good post with lots of really cool info and I think my subs would really enjoy it!

I've been wondering if Blizz would add something like this for ages because there are so many people afraid to try another spec because of a chance that they might get a legendary on their off-spec.

If that's all that is being changed, its very disappointing. This doesn't change the fact that the legendary that drops has such a large impact on your performance that if you never get lucky, you can pretty much never focus on your offspec.

Emmm, I think those who went from Diablo to WarCraft team over did their work. The role of legendary items became a must have. At the beginning it was fun to get one. Right now if someone does something wrong and they cant make a decent amount of dmg, or heal main reason - I do not have Legendary items.
Starting to miss times when Legendary items were really Like Legends (Ulduar, Black temple)

Well, Legion's main theme is farming based on RNG. Do you want your legendary? (the one which is actually useful). Then farm grind.

Do you want your arctifact leveled? Then farm, plus wait for AK (time-gated advance, great). Same for quests like the hunt of Illidan Stormrage, which wasnt clarified if it would be a need for NH or not. This expansion is about grinding M+, farming to deal with RNG and time-gated requisites. Doesn't really feel like class balance or non-highend mecanics are to be funny at all... sadly.

We'll see if 7.2 comes with fresh air. It does seem like RNG will be just a bit less painful regarding legendaries, but again... we'll see.

Executive Producer Holly Longdale teased some upcoming experimental PvE-focused content that Blizzard will soon reveal to the community.
It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.
Holly Longdale today teased an upcoming PvE-oriented event that will soon be revealed to us. Holly might be talking about the "Timerunning Pandamonium," expected in Patch 10.2.7.

      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. It will be exciting to see some of the community content creators going head-to-head as duos during the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on March 30!  This isn’t the end of the things we want to try in World of Warcraft, however, and we have more in store we can’t wait to show you.
Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
      Holly Longdale
