Recommended Posts

Blizzard covers when S9 ends and S10 begins as well as what happens during a seasonal rollover.

Another season is almost done and we have the exact time the ninth circle will end. It's been a while since we've had one of these, so Blizzard went over all the things that happen once a season ends and what to expect (it's the same old, same old!). Here are the dates for both S9 end and S10 beginning:

Season 9 will be ending on the following dates and times:

  • North America: Friday, March 17 @ 5:00 p.m. PDT
  • Europe: Friday, March 17 @ 5:00 p.m. CET
  • Asia: Friday, March 17 @ 5:00 p.m. KST

Season 10 will begin about two weeks afterward on these dates:

  • North America: Friday, March 31 @ 5:00 p.m. PDT
  • Europe: Friday, March 31 @ 5:00 p.m. CET
  • Asia: Friday, March 31 @ 5:00 p.m. KST

Here we are again, nephalem. As we prepare to close out another Season in Diablo III, it's time to take a moment to remember what you have achieved and ensure you're ready for the transition to a new Season.

If you haven't experienced the end of a Season, there's a lot to know about what happens to your gear, progress, and characters. Don't fret! We're here to give you a full overview of what to expect when the current Season ends and the next one begins.

The Season Rollover:

Those who have played through a few Seasons know there has been no shortage of gold, gear, or Paragon levels to earn. So what happens to all that hard earned progress when a Season ends? In short, you get to keep just about all of it.

Here's a list of all the rewards from this Season you can expect your non-Seasonal heroes to enjoy:

Heroes

  • Seasonal heroes will be converted to either non-Seasonal Normal or Hardcore mode heroes, as appropriate. There's no need to delete any characters to make room; your Seasonal heroes will continue to use the same slot they currently occupy in your roster after the rollover. You’ll also be able to use Season Rebirth to convert any non-Seasonal character into a Seasonal level 1 character once the next Season begins.

Gold

  • Any gold you earn during the Season will transfer to your non-Seasonal heroes.

Paragon Experience

  • The total amount of Paragon experience earned is the amount that rolls over, not your raw total amount of Paragon levels gained.
  • For example, if your Seasonal heroes reached Paragon 300, but your current non-Seasonal heroes are already Paragon 400, your new non-Seasonal Paragon level will still be less than Paragon 700 since higher Paragon levels take more experience to earn.

Blood Shards

  • Similar to gold, any Blood Shards you have available at the end of the Season will transfer to your non-Seasonal heroes.
  • If your non-Seasonal heroes are currently at the Blood Shard cap, any Blood Shards you earn once the Season ends will temporarily ignore the cap. You can spend these at your leisure; however, note that you cannot pick up any additional Blood Shards until you are below your current cap.

Items

  • Items that are currently equipped on a hero or in that hero's inventory will stay on that hero as it moves to a non-Seasonal game mode.
  • Items that are in your Seasonal stash will be sent through the in-game mail system to your non-Seasonal heroes. These items can be claimed by any non-Seasonal hero up to 30 days from the time you first log in after the Season ends. To access these items, enter a game and hit the Mail icon located in the lower-left corner of your screen to open up your inbox.

Artisan Progress and Recipes

  • If your Seasonal Artisans are a higher level than your non-Seasonal Artisans at the end of the Season, their level will transfer to your non-Seasonal Artisans.
  • Any recipes you have on your Seasonal Artisans that are not available to your non-Seasonal Artisans will be transferred as well.

Shared Stash

  • Any Shared Stash slots or tabs you purchase during a Season that are not currently available to your non-Seasonal heroes will be transferred accordingly.

Achievements

  • Any achievements or achievement progress made during the Season is automatically applied to your non-Seasonal achievement profile. This happens in real time and does not require the Season to end first. Your achievement point total is also updated appropriately throughout the Season.

Kanai's Cube

  • After the Season rollover, any Legendary Powers unlocked using Kanai’s Cube on a Seasonal Character will become available on non-Seasonal characters as appropriate.
  • At the start of a new Season, Seasonal characters will not have access to any Kanai’s Cube Legendary Powers unlocked during previous Seasonal or non-Seasonal play.

Season 9 Rewards

  • All players who reach level 70 on a hero in Season 9 will unlock exclusive chest and gloves transmogrification appearances. These appearances will unlock immediately upon hitting level 70 on a Seasonal hero, and will be available on Seasonal and non-Seasonal heroes alike (even before the Season concludes). To access your new appearances, simply visit Miriam the Mystic and open the Transmogrification tab.
  • In addition, players can earn portrait frames and an exclusive set of wings for completing various chapters of the Season Journey.

Note that all heroes, rewards, and progress will convert to the appropriate non-Seasonal game mode. Any items, gold, Paragon experience, achievements, Artisan levels or recipes, Stash space, and Blood Shards earned on Normal Seasonal heroes with transfer to your Normal non-Seasonal heroes when the season is over. Similarly, anything you’ve earned on Hardcore Seasonal heroes will transfer to your Hardcore non-Season heroes instead.

Season 9 Conquests:

Unlike other rewards, Conquests do not roll over at the end of the Season (because they aren’t available to non-Seasonal heroes). This also means that your non-Seasonal Achievement point total will not be affected by any Conquests you earn during a Season.

Season 9 Leaderboards:

Once the Season ends, all Seasonal Leaderboards will be wiped and you will be unable to attain new Leaderboard ranks until the next Season begins. The results of the previous Season’s Leaderboards will remain available for viewing in-game. Once the new Season begins, a handy drop-down menu will allow you to swap between the current and previous Season records.

Don't forget that you can also view current and past Leaderboards right here.

The non-Seasonal Greater Rift Leaderboards will also be wiped sometime after the end of the Season. However, you'll immediately be able to compete in the currently active Era with your non-Seasonal heroes (including those who have just rolled over), and will not have to wait for the start of the next Season.

Season 9 End & Season 10 Start Dates:

You’ll be able to sort through your rollover rewards and review your progress on the Leaderboards between Seasons. It’s a great time to reflect on the accomplishments you’ve made and enjoy the culmination of your pre- and post-Season loot hunts!

Season 9 will be ending on the following dates and times:

  • North America: Friday, March 17 @ 5:00 p.m. PDT
  • Europe: Friday, March 17 @ 5:00 p.m. CET
  • Asia: Friday, March 17 @ 5:00 p.m. KST

Season 10 will begin about two weeks afterward on these dates:

  • North America: Friday, March 31 @ 5:00 p.m. PDT
  • Europe: Friday, March 31 @ 5:00 p.m. CET
  • Asia: Friday, March 31 @ 5:00 p.m. KST

For time zone assistance, click here. We look forward to seeing you in Season 10!

Ready for the Rollover?

How have you fared during Season 9? What was the highest Greater Rift you reached? Did you complete any Conquests? Any other exciting accomplishments to share?

Let us know in the comments and prepare yourself—Season 10 is just around the corner!

Was hoping for the Necromancer to be released in time for S10. Bit disappointing.

Yea, dunno why but I was under the impression it was coming in February. Not sure if they actually mentioned it in a Blizzcon panel or something or if it was just my own "calculation".

I think Blizzard said that the Necromancer would release sometime in the second half of 2017

I think that is correct.

They need to finish their Money Bin before they can release him. And such a huge building (don't forget the necessary security equipment!) takes some time.

We have another milestone for Season 19 as we get our first HC GR 150 clear video! Ilovemf managed an EU first and what seems like a World 4th, with a US Necromancer and another Barbarian ahead of him, as well as a Crusader from Korea. The ending gets pretty explosive, but with 41 seconds left on the clock it's a pretty great clear.
In case you're wondering why he pauses the game so often, it's to let the huge calculations from manually rending a whole lot of mobs play out, so they don't completely slow the game down. Congrats to Ilovemf and all the other brave souls pushing on Hardcore - just make sure you don't get to that 1000 killstreak or Uber Diablo will come get you (yes, he does indeed spawn on HC)!

We've already seen 150ies, and even solo 150ies before, but this one is a bit special, and not just because it was done in under 12 minutes. If you haven't really played this season or pushed rifts properly this video has some really good commentary of all the calculations that go into a 150 solo clear. With each decision point on when to "use" a killstreak being discussed, aka when to down enough mobs to get to the next one, if and when to reset it to get the correct ones for the correct part of the GR etc, etc. It's really interesting to watch, especially towards the end where Laurcus even pauses the game to think how to best get to those angels that he needs to down the Rift Guardian.
This video showcases just how different this season really is (if it wasn't obvious already) and it's definitely worth a watch, even if you haven't played in a long time, perhaps especially if you haven't, so go for it!

Season 19 is half way done and we have about a month and a half left to summon those Uber Diablos everyone is so fond of, gather angelic armies to kill rift guardians for us, and all the other killstreak-related shenanigans Nephalem get up to. But the question now is when we'll find out more about Season 20, aka when the PTR will be coming. We know that the plan is to have a 2 week-long PTR this time around to iron out a few more bugs and we know the post-season break is now also longer, around a week and a half, and the season itself will probably be around 3 months in total (including the season break).

When you put all that together, along with the usual PTR-to season launch timings so far, it seems inevitable we'll be seeing the next PTR up within 1, maximum 2 weeks, which is good news as we'll get to find out just what the two new sets will be, the new seasonal mechanic and new legendaries + tuning and more!
We have some blue posts commenting on the subject, but it's the usual non-commital stance, with a reminder that we'll be getting a big blog about balance somewhere around the PTR launch, explaining the balancing goals and policies of Diablo 3 now and in the future.

      Title…
      Will it come:
      Soon
      Blizzard Soon
      Very very soon
Is the year too fresh to ask for it? xD
I guess everyone would like to know what sets+legendaries we will see and what season theme will come to Sanctuary.
      Peace

      Hey Mortred!
We’re going to go with Option 1 on this one. We’ll have more communications in regards to PTR in the coming weeks.
      Thanks

      Balance Blog (source)
Yeah, Matthew, what’s the ETA? stares at the email with the text awaiting review
It’s in progress. I did the bulk of the writing before break with some touch-ups after coming back, now it has to go through the multi-phase preparation for release: verifying text with our development team for accuracy and tone (it’s here now), review with our editorial team for grammar and polish, delivery to our localization teams to be translated into all our supported languages, and then re-distributed to all our regional community managers for formatting and publishing. There’s also asset creation and review that happens in tandem, for things like headers and thumbnails or any in-blog images, all which follow a similar structure.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it should publish before the release of the 2.6.8 PTR.
We can also take a look at all the season durations so far for a more exact idea of the timing for S20, courtesy of D3resource:

We seem to be escalating the seasonal Uber Diablo 1000-killstreak spawns rather rapidly, after the triple spawn in a T16 rift the other day, their numbers seem to have tripled once again! Redditor NTariel and his crew really like the big red guy it seems, as they set to summon as many of his as possible, using a relatively common way to "save" the killstreak stacks and trigger them individually in a 4 player group. But let's get to the video itself first:
Since there really aren't 9000 enemies in any zone, you may be wondering how exactly they did it. Well it's a bit of a weird one and one of those borderline things, but seems on the safe side of the exploit-o-meter. This has been used for a while in 4 man groups to save up the 400 killstreak Meteor proc and here's the process as described by NTariel himself:
This season's main feature may well end up being a race to see who can summon up the most Diablos in one zone, but with the 9 we have already, it'll be tough to beat!
