Frost Dk pvp and playstyle

this is such a necessary thread. frost dk needs a REAL redesign. biggest disappointment of legion imo

no desecrated ground
no lichborne
no double grip
ams nerf
no death siphon or reliable active heal outside of IBF which is totally counter intuitive for pvp
no strangulate
no asphyxiate
no death and decay or any reliable replacement ability to catch enemies in stealth (great example of a pointless nerf...huge quality of life and survival nerf in pvp)
no icy touch dispel
this brought a really nice small utility that rewarded the player if used properly. im still mad about this being removed. i dont care about icy touch, they could bring back a balanced offensive dispel for us through any number of ways. will we ever be anything but a glass cannon?
and finally wraith walk is unreliable and undertuned, probably the worst "gap crosser" in the game to date. especially for a class missing so much flexability compared to other classes and frost dk in past seasons

fury of sind's cooldown is awful and is just a clunky ability in general. deserves to be better.
crystalline swords is a slap in the face, nearly EVERY other spec in the game has an active artifact ability that robustly affects and tunes their rotation somehow. ours is a boring excuse of an ability that should not have made it past testing. it brings NOTHING to frost dk.

im sure some of you have got to be sick of this variation of frost. it is objectively worse than ever before. its a watered down magic damage fury warrior competitor at BEST.
PLEASE fix this blizzard.
If i could make one change to dk in pvp, all i would do is either give asphyx back baseline to dk, or drastically improve deathstrike healing output. either of those things would be a start.
just watch two frost dks duel each other and you'll see exactly whats wrong with it.
0 subtlety or depth....even the rune simplification was overkill. it just furthers the stereotype that frost is an "easy" spec. (which is sadly kind of true now imo)
its just a question of who presses their attacks fastest.

I want the Dev team to abandon this idea of a repetitive aimless damage bot for frost dk pvp.
bring back the nuance, bring back the self-healing which has ALWAYS been a part of dk lore and frost playstyle. bring back offensive dispel!
bring back a reliable stun! bring back a silence!
I dont see how any of these changes would imbalance the game as a whole, and would bring a huge quality of life change to many dks who have given up on this spec for similar reasons.
Give us something to do other than faceroll obliterates into our targets! why cant we have a cc again? or any small utility for that matter
how are we expected to counter these things without a pocket healer?
the playstyle, as is, just doesnt work. its not fun, or creative, or intuitive. blizzard can do better with frost dk. I think a ton of frost dks out there would like to be something other than a glass cannon.

this is just my opinion, im not telling anyone what to think. thats just what ive observed on my dk since WOD. i would like to hear from blizzard on this and get some insight here.

DK pvp certainly has changed and you did hit on quite a good points on room for improvement. However, if I may, you may find this sort of topic would be better off on the official blizzard forums. That is really the first place they go and frankly most of the blue tweets seem to stem from there. I can honestly not say I've ever heard a dev respond to something on the icy forums, not to say we aren't awesome (cuz we are) however to get more direct dev contact, the official forum is probably better.

__________________________________________________<Shiny Happy People>__________________________________________________ We're looking for more Mythic-ready raiders. Check the bottom of the page for recruitment needs and how to apply!
Who we is:   SHP is comprised of some of the illest killas you done ever seen. We're long-time bessie amigos based on The Maelstrom EU with our WoW experience stretching as far back as Vanilla. We play many different games together but consider WoW our 'main' game. We're former hardcore, balls-to-the-wall Heroic/Mythic raiders now adopting the life of the semi-casual.   For a more in depth look at our history please visit: https://www.guilded.gg/shp/overview/about We strongly recommend you give that a read before applying. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________   What we're about:   SHP is all about that primo, high octane gaming experience while having Tons of Funs™. This means we play at a high level and blaze through content at a steady pace all the while plenty of uncensored shit-talking and bants is taking place on voice comms. We pride ourselves in being able to overcome any and all challenges while cracking wise. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________   But who are we looking for?   Are you able to follow simple instructions such as 'Don't do that' or 'Don't stand in that shit' or 'Don't drop that big bad AOE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RAID'? Are you able to perform dexterous movements such as sidestepping big fucking purple beams being casted in your direction? Are you able to perform complex mechanics such as pool soaking by standing COMPLETELY still? Do you often look at boss tactic videos and think to yourself 'Man aint nobody got time for any of that nonsense, I'll let the raid leaders spoonfeed me what to do'?   Then you might just be SHP material! If none of the above applies to you but you're ranged DPS and you consistently parse orange on WCLogs then you are definitely SHP material! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ But what can we offer you?
SHP can offer you raiding like you've never raided before. I'm talking high level play from highly skilled players proficient in both PvE and PvP. A mindset of continual self-improvement and an eye on a prize at the end of an ever-expanding horizon. Our members also regularly run high Mythic keystones to gear up alts or to hopefully get a sweet sweet Titanforged weapon.
But no matter how difficult the content, no matter how focused we get, it is always paired with a relaxed environment, sweet tunes from our dedicated music bot and the occasional sing-a-long on our Discord voice comms.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________   When do we do what we do?   We raid Wednesdays and Mondays from 20:00 till 23:30. We also have an extra raid day at the start of a new tier on Saturdays which will convert to an optional alt-run after this period. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________   Website Discord   Contact: PinkFap#2713 ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________   Current recruitment needs: Mostly looking for good ranged DPS of any class and melee of a select few classes to round out our roster.   For our most up-to-date recruitment needs please visit our WoWProgress page.   You can drop an application here. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

      Hi everyone,

We are a guild that transferred from Alexstrasza to join the progression raiding scene as that server is very low population now. We are currently 8/8N and 4/8H uldir, and looking to move into heroics soon and mythic just after.

We do more than just raid, we love to do keys, transmog runs, and even some PvP. We have a large range of players from several walks of life and have a unique and fun atmosphere, we are friendly and love helping people.

We are looking for a few more members for our Sunday/Monday 5-8pm PST, and our tue/third 5-8pm PST. If anyone is interested in raid leading that will work too.

We are primarily east coast based but have a plethora of players that are on at all times of day.

Main needs for our raid team:
      ranged dps
      Healers
      Exceptional players

Of course all players as welcome as we do other guild activities such as world PVP, keys, xmog and other social activities.

So come join this very active guild and we hope to hear from you.

If you would like more information please add my btag at Kaatra#5865.

I look forward to hearing from all of you.

I usually sim my characters to get the best possible results. I enjoy the process quite a lot and since I reached 120, I wanted to find out the best build of the spec. (Note, I didn't want to find out what to play, but rather how my own build fares in comarison.) I rarely mind a 1-2% difference. If it goes above 2%, I really mind a change. What this thread is about is mainly to bring something in the attention of those who help making the class guides, especially the talent choices. To my surprise, I was awed to find out that certain talents outperform previous "Standard" choices in the endgame, probably due to the stat squish.

The Frost go-to build (top dps) would probably be along the lines of <Icy Talons / Cold Heart - Runic Attenuation - Frozen Pulse - Gathering Storm - Breath of Sindragosa>. What I found out primarily was that after the removal of legendaries, Cold Heart severely underperforms at most given situations resulting in a major dps drop due to the low mastery. Gathering Storm also suffers from the same problem and most of the times, Frostwyrm's Fury is better overall. The biggest surprise of them all, however, was that Inexorable Assault overperforms quite a lot, and is the first reason why I made the topic. I then started simming with the above in mind and I came across a build that some would not consider on par with top dog builds around the meta, which is the use of Horn of Winter which overperforms both its other two options when using the Breath build. Talent Sim can be seen here. Another intresting thing, which I loved, was that the 2nd best build uses Obliteration as a lvl 100 talent and no other build surpassed it (Other than the first one, obviously). So, I encourage frost players out there to give their other, less common talents a try. To the class guide author(s), I believe that the two "underdog" talents will earn their spot in the class guides.

Thank you for your time reading this.

<Protectorate of the Lion> Is a laid back guild filled with kind and active players going into BfA. While we are sitting around 115 members, we make sure to keep people from getting lost in the crowd. Everyone has a place here! We have class leaders to help new or returning players get better acquainted with their specs! We also do PVP a lot as well as weekly raiding Friday/Saturday/Sunday! We have an RP campaign kind of like a band of brothers group going through Dark shore currently trying to rescue survivors and recover fallen Lions. Our story is a Flexastructured meaning we start with a direction we'll head and the rest is character driven instead of railroading, we're all about character development and discovery. We have an active Discord aswell! Join today and defend the Alliance.
