Shadow Priest Mythic Maw of Souls Solo

Recommended Posts

fI3OSIr.jpg

We've seen Mythic +3 solos, Mythic CoS solos, Archimonde Mythic solos,  but we haven't specifically seen a SP Maw solo! As the author himself mentions, it's not specifically a video about skill, but more about what's possible with DPS specs and current gear levels (in this case, a 902 itemlevel).

To commemmorate the possible end of MoS spam in 7.2, I decided to try and solo it.
When Heroic turned out to be too easy, I obviously had to turn up the heat...

This is not a video purely about skill, but shows the power level even a dps spec can get to with high enough gear.

Healing per second/Boss:
Ymiron ~360k
Harbaron ~230k
Helya ~140k
No logs on Skjal...

Could this be a sign of a bit too much of a power curve within one expansion? I mean, he's soloing at-level mythic content. That was never even dreamed about in older expansions. Even with a high quality solo-class like shadow priest or Ret pally.

Question: What is he talking about "possible end of MoS spam in 7.2"?

He's referring to this part in the Patch Notes for 7.2:

Artifact Power rewards for Mythic Keystone dungeons have been adjusted:

  • Longer dungeons, such as Halls of Valor, now award a proportionately higher amount of Artifact Power.
  • Shorter dungeons, such as Maw of Souls, now award a proportionately lower amount of Artifact Power.
  • Artifact Power bonuses have been added to your weekly chest rewards. These increase based on the highest level Mythic Keystone you completed.

While there was no Mythic dungeon in Mists of Pandaria (Challenge existed but it's not a fair comparison as Challenge had a ilvl cap that was on Heroic dungeon level gear (463)), I could easily solo any MoP Heroic dungeon on my retridin at ~ilvl 500. ilvl 500 was about average for the second raid tier (Comparable to ToV in this xpac). I'm sure with Siege of Orgrimmar gear (ilvl 588 I was at one point on my Protadin), I would easily be able to beat Challenge if the level limit (as Retri) wasn't there and ToT (one tier lower) I would probably struggle a bit but not too much with proper usage of Flash of Light stacks.

In WoD, I had a very easy time soloing Mythic dungeons with end-game gear as Retri. It was one of the reasons that multistrike was removed. It wasn't great as a dps stat for Retri at the time (Somewhere in the middle), but it sure helped survivability more than anything.

Also, do not forget that Blizzard is increasing the difficulty for Legion Heroic and Mythic dungeons (and drops for Normal Heroic and Mythic).

The item level gap isn't that ridiculous as you might think. In MoP, Heroic dungeons (The highest dungeon tier at the time) dropped 463 items and End-game raid gear (With warforging) was ilvl 592 or 596 (I forgot, very close to that number). This represents a gap of 129 ilvls (assuming the 592 cap)

While in Legion, Mythic dungeons (Let's be fair and use those for Legion, as there's many ways to get this ilvl and higher without raiding while that was not the case in MoP) reward ilvl 840 gear, while Tomb of Sargeras, having the absolute cap at ilvl 940, is "only" a 100 ilvl difference.

Do you see what I mean? It's not that ludicrous at all.

The actual HP and Damage numbers are though... There's a reason they did a statsquish in WoD because MoP numbers were too high, and with ilvl 900+ being easily obtainable in 7.2, we're probably going to see "average" tanks with 8 million HP and mythic raiding tanks probably with 11M+ on bears.

While the big War Within pre-patch news is certainly Dynamic Flight being added to old mounts, the system is also adding a new option for Dracthyr!
Since players will be able to switch between Dynamic Flight and regular "static" flying, Dracthyr will gain the ability to fly like a regular old flying mount, including properly just hovering mid-air and looking cool. Here's MrGM's short video of the feature, where we can see that the race still retains the Soar liftoff animation, even with static flying:

Taivan's size has been increased in Patch 10.2.7, and we have a detailed side-by-side comparison to showcase the changes.
As you might recall, Blizzard reduced Taivan's size on April 9, which led to a significant uproar among the community. Blizzard later explained that this reduction was temporary and that Taivan's size would be restored with Patch 10.2.7.
So we went on the 10.2.7 PTR and compared both the live version of the mount to that coming in Dark Heart!
      Patch 10.2.6 Size

      Patch 10.2.7 Size
As you can see the goodest of good bois is finally back to its former glory!
