Nethershard Rewards Changes + More Blue Posts

No more mindless Nethershard grinding, PvP dampening and artifact trait clarifications and hotfixes.

The tweaking of the Broken Shore continues, as today we get a big change in how Nethershards are distributed. No more grinding any and all mobs, with the shards only coming from a select few locations, but in greater numbers.

Over the first couple of days since players took the fight to the Burning Legion on the Broken Shore, we’ve been keeping a close eye on Nethershard acquisition, and making adjustments as necessary via hotfixes.

We’re rolling out hotfixes that make the following changes:

  • Enemies around the Broken Shore will no longer drop Nethershards by default.
  • Enemies in the shadow of the Sentinax will drop Nethershards.
  • Nethershard rewards from Rare Elites on the Broken Shore have been increased.
  • Nethershard rewards associated with Sentinax portals and beacons have been greatly increased in a hotfix that just went live.

Legion Assaults, coming on Tuesday, will also be a lucrative source of Nethershards.

What we want to avoid is a Timeless Isle frogs situation, where mindlessly grinding a field of mobs is the most efficient thing to do. To be clear—we’re not trying to take away from what players are doing, and we definitely don’t want to make your adventures take longer. Overall, our goal here is to make the Broken Shore more rewarding, improve Nethershard acquisition, and ensure that the objectives on your map generally indicate where you’ll find the best results.

Thanks for playing, and we’re really glad to see you out there defending Azeroth!

There were also some PvP related fixes, starting with Dampening:

And further PvP clarifications on artifact traits:

There are two important points we want to make sure everyone knows:

1. All artifact traits are active in PvP, including Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds.

2. Players always receive 36 points worth of Stamina in their Artifact, including the 10% Stamina received from the first trait on the new Artifact Emblem.

'All traits' means everything, including any and all points placed in Concordance of Legionfall. Nothing is disabled.

The Nighthold boss issues (aka Elisande's slaughtering everyone) should have been fixed earlier today as well:

But the class issues that came with 7.2 have not:

Afther this, the twit linked seems to be wrong.

Next Tuesday is gonna be an easy day to do world quests on the invaded zone, since everyone is gonna be there.

Actually that's a weird bug, there isn't supposed to be a tweet there at all! :D Thanks for pointing it out!

The new War Within Allied Races was added to the Alpha today and we already have a full look at not only all their customization options, but their dances as well, courtesy of MrGM! You can check out the Earthen's racial abilities here if you missed them earlier.
Let's start with the more dynamic feature, with both male and female dances:
And then there's big amount of customization options, as well as a size comparison with regular dwarves:

So, are we liking the new Allied Race overall? More than actual dwarves?

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?
