Tanks in 7.2.5

Recommended Posts

Quite simply I am wondering what tank will probably have the highest potential damage in 7.2.5, I know not all the changes have been announced yet but from what we know so far.
If anyone wants to tell me tank damage doesn't matter outside of top guilds, I'm not concerned about that, I've just always found more enjoyment out of doing a lot of damage while still playing a tank, I am more thinking about in M+, as it is very doubtful I can beat dps specs single target.

I was thinking Prot Pala because of Seraphim would be the highest damage tank, but at the moment my knowledge on warriors and demon hunters is extremely minimal, so just wanted to ask others here which tanks they think could push the most damage in M+ and possibly raids.

The best way of comparing it, IMO, is to take the top parses from NH, check the most prominent classes and then see who is getting nerfed/buffed.

As it stands:

  • Vengeance damage is buffed.
  • Blood damage is buffed.
  • Guardian damage is buffed (slightly).
  • Prot Pala has no change.
  • Warrior has a slight nerf.
  • Brewmaster is about the same, with buffs and nerfs.

I'm expecting Guardian/Prot Warr/Vengeance to be top for damage.

i was playing Blood today and i was doing 1.1 million burst dps and sustaining 560k Single target it was interesting that's not even to speak of the AoE i was doing 1-2 mill pre patch AoE that required me to really try though now i'm sneezing 2 mill AoE out and was getting up to 3-4 mill then i died cause bursting and i wasn't expecting to kill them like that

Like everything, it's still gear based. But if dps is all you're worrying about (and not mitigation or viability) you're top DPS tanks are DH, Warrior and Pally (in that order). But even the lowest dmg, DK's, can still pump out the damage with the right gear and skills.

You're missing Druid here. It's better than both Warrior and Paladin.

For a ranking, I'd put it as DH > Druid > Pala > Warr > Monk > DK

Can anyone rank the Tanks in terms of spikeness? I mean which tank is more self sufficient and less squishier? Not according to gear ofc

Self-sufficient is DK or DH simply due to the insane amount of self healing.

DK = DH > Paladin > Warrior >= Druid > Monk
