Siege of Orgrimmar Warrior Tank Style

Recommended Posts

This thread is meant to collect useful pieces of information for Protection Warriors attempting bosses in the Siege of Orgrimmar. We will add some contributions ourselves and hope that the rest will come from comments in this thread smile.png

Tips:
  • For normal mode: adds don't live long enough to justify Bladestorm. The stun from Shockwave can be beneficial, but the likelihood of it hitting 3+ adds is low. With vengeance, Dragon Roar nearly one-shots the adds.
  • For heroic: take Bladestorm to kill the small heroic adds. Whenever they're spawning and you're not tanking, Bladestorm in the area around DPS who tend to pull a lot of the small adds to them. Use your Mocking Banner to aid this as well.
  • Save Heroic Leap. Its upfront damage isn't quite as valuable as the ability to get to adds quickly and put damage on them immediately if they are getting uncomfortably close to the boss.
  • Vigilance over Safeguard. With the frontal cone ability, Safeguard is either risky or less than optimally hepful.
  • Consider Storm Bolt, depending on whether your raid is having trouble finishing off adds.
  • Make sure you have consistent positioning and are in place before the boss reappears. Don't risk killing raid members.
  • Use a small CD and make sure you have a full SBar up for his Corrosive Blast.

The Fallen Protectors

Tips:
  • Keep Disrupting Shout on hand to toss interrupts on Sun while keeping He as your focus. This helps to ensure that you have your back properly turned when he's casting Gouge. Don't rely on where you think he is. You have to look. He bounces around an obnoxious amount.
  • Take either Mass Spell Reflection or Vigilance. Vigilance will help for offtank, but if you're tanking the Embodied Misery, MSR can be very helpful (see below).
  • Don't tank Rook and He simultaneously. Rook's stun and He's Gouge do not play well together.
  • Bladestorm helps with adds in parts, but they tend to die fast enough that Dragon Roar may be better.
  • You can reflect the knockback and initial tick of Embodied Misery's wow_icon_inv_misc_volatileearth.jpgDefiled Ground; however, the ground effect will still land.
  • When He is about to Gouge, turn and run a few steps directly away from him. This will help to ensure that the game registers that you are turned away.
  • If you're tanking Rook, use a full SBar before he stuns and begins his attack.

Tips:
  • Communicate with your raid when you need to go down to clear your corruption. Don't just ninja an orb.
  • Keep Disrupting Shout as an emergency interrupt when you're taking the trial to reset your corruption.
  • Mass Spell Reflection to reflect the tank trial add's spell to kill it faster.
  • Dragon Roar. The adds die too quickly for Bladestorm (unless a DPS fails their trial).
  • When doing your trial you can spell reflect the Hurl Corruption cast by the add you have to face.
  • Use Impending Victory to top yourself off before Unleashed Anger. If you do not need topping off, use it after Unleashed Anger to restore HP.
  • Ensure that you have a full SBar up for Unleashed Anger.
  • Make sure to use your Rallyng Cry and Demoralizing Banner to help your raid survive.

Sha of Pride

Tips:
  • Set your offtank as your focus. It is essential to taunt as soon as the debuff appears.
  • If you're between 50-74 pride, you WILL have to soak your personal bouncing bolt. Run under the boss before Swelling Pride to ensure that the void zone is within melee range of the boss.
  • If your raid stacks the adds beneath the boss, run in to help AoE them. Use Mocking Banner when many adds spawn.
  • Make sure you're not standing where an add has spawned, it will explode a few seconds after spawning.
  • Use Impending Victory as your healing talent. There's not enough outgoing damage to find a good time to use Enraged Regen.
  • If the small adds live for 6+ seconds, spec into Bladestorm. It'll be up for every set. If not, spec into DR and save it for adds.
  • For heroic: Make sure you're soaking a rift every time your offtank taunts off you. Heroic Leap is great for this.
  • Use Intercept to keep your Riposte up (if you're avoidance stacking).

Galakras

Tips:
  • Bladestorm.
  • Make sure your DPS know that threat isn't magical. You have to hit things first. That being said, don't waste time and make sure you're there quickly once the adds have spawned.
  • Once you have established threat, get the adds in the fire. Call for ranged to interrupt the casters as needed.
  • Don't aim the minibosses at the melee. Try to minimize movement when they're out.
  • Despite the incline, Heroic Leap will often work if used only a short distance away.
  • Consider using the Glyph of Resonating Power. You won't be able to Thunder Clap as often, but they'll be much more powerful and can help with snap aggro on the adds.
  • Focus your damage on the Tidal Shaman.
  • Once Galakras is on the ground and you're taking his fire DoT, start prioritizing SBar over SBlk. You can't block the fire DoT, so make sure you're absorbing it.
  • Use Juggernaut's Focusing Crystal and ether the Curse of Hubris or the Resolve of Niuzao. The latter two will help your threat, the former will help you through the DoT.
  • Make sure to use Recklessness and Skull Banner!
  • Consider using Glyph of Gag Order in order to have a ranged interrupt to use on the Tidal Shaman.
  • If you're going up to the tower, put Vigilance on the ground tank before leaving. Thunder Clap the adds, run to the top of the tower, then drop mocking banner at the top of the steps to hold the adds.

  • Keep Charge handy. If you get knocked off of a tower, you can Charge back in.

  • Pop a CD when you get to the top of a tower in case your healer is trailing.

-You can Heroic Leap off a tower to save yourself from the fall damage.

Iron Juggernaut

Tips:
  • When not actively tanking, soak crawler mines. Use Charge or Heroic Leap to recover from the knock up.
  • Have a full SBar up before soaking a mine.
  • Tank the boss from max melee range to avoid the drill's lines.
  • Don't stand in front of the boss if you're not actively tanking it.
  • Use SBlk about twice after taunting, then prioritize SBar. Make sure you have a CD up and a full SBar for the fire breaths.
  • After your offtank taunts, keep your SBar rotation up until the DoT falls off.
  • Use Rallying Cry and Demoralizing Banner to help your raid survive the Shock Pulse.
  • The last set of Crawler Mines that spawn during the Siege phase cannot be soaked safely by the active tank. If you are the active tank, make sure someone else is soaking them.
  • Rook's Unlucky Talisman and the Vial of Living Corruption are good trinket choices. Juggernaut's Focusing Crystal is appropriate if you lack either of the above.
  • Dragon Roar- no adds.
  • Either Enraged Regen or Impending Victory work. IV will be able to top you off more often from the breaths, but ER can help with the DoT as well.
  • Make sure to spec into Vigilance and use it to aid your offtank.

Tips:
  • For normal only: Haromm should be kept as stationary as possible to help the melee. When a tank swap occurs, the tank on Kardris should bring her over, taunt Haromm, and then the previous Haromm tank should take Kardris and return to normal positioning.
  • The tank's position determines where Ashen Walls land. Try to keep them parallel to one another and as close together as possible without taking excessive damage from them.
  • Spell Reflect Froststorm Bolt (Kardris).
  • Have a full SBar up for Froststorm Strike (Haromm). Since the timing on this ability can be wonky, make sure you have about 90 rage when you use for SBar. If his melee strikes take your SBar down before the Froststorm Strike, use another full rage SBar.
  • Unless your co-tank is another warrior, they cannot take as many stacks as you.
  • Vigilance if you're tanking Haromm, Mass Spell Reflect if you're tanking Kardris. This mostly applies to the heroic encounter.
  • Heroic: If you're on Kardris, take Bladestorm. You can use it for every other set of globs. Bladestorm around in about an 8yd circle and you'll avoid getting hit by the adds as they spawn while also picking them up efficiently. You'll have to kite more for the spawns that happen while Bladestorm is on CD.
  • Take Dragon Roar if you're on Haromm or if you're doing normal mode.
  • Disarm will reduce the damage from Froststorm Strike.

General Nazgrim

Tips:
  • Dragon Roar. There aren't quite enough adds close together to really benefit from Bladestorm. Consider Shockwave if your raid needs the stuns.
  • If your raid stacks the adds on the boss to kill them, switch to the Warshaman immediately and assist in burning it down.
  • Ironblade adds can be disarmed. If you have to bring one to the boss, disarm it first.
  • Help your raid burn down War Banners.
  • Safeguard is fine for this fight as long as you're careful about using it. Make sure to use it just after a debuff goes out to ensure that you don't Intercept it and reset your stacks. If you're doing heroic, use it on your offtank during the Execute cast.
  • For heroic: always have a CD up for Execute. Yes, you can probably survive it without a CD as long as you have a full SBar, but it is not worth chancing.
  • Use Dodge trinkets for this fight.
  • Impending Victory to top off before Execute or to recover afterward.
  • If, for some reason, you cannot get out of Heroic Shockwave before it goes off, make sure you have a SBar up to soak it.
  • If your raid is having a hard time with the Warshaman, glyph for the silence on Heroic Throw and consider speccing into Stormbolt. Both can ease pressure caused by adds.

Malkorok

Tips:
  • Depending on the skill and awareness level of your raid, I found it beneficial to have the off-tank put a raid marker down on the safe stack-point after 3 Arcing Smashes, about 5 yards deep from the center of the room where he's usually tanked (and move the boss there), to avoid anyone getting hit by Blood of Y'saarj because they were too close to the point where all 3 ground effects converge in the middle.
  • Also, if you use Gylph of Shield wall, I recommend removing it, because the Blood Rage where everyone stacks to soak the cone damage, is EXACTLY 2minutes apart every single time, no RNG involved; ensuring you have a Shield Wall up for everyone one of them.
  • Coordinate Demoralizing Banner and Rallying Cry during Blood Rage as well, every bit helps.
  • If your raid is having a difficult time building Healing Absorption Shields at the very start of Malkorok, you can pull the boss from the back of the room and Heroic Leap to your raid before truly beginning the fight in the middle, which will give about 3 seconds for healers to build a shield before you start taking heavy damage (however, I'd recommend this ONLY if your healers are struggling to grasp the importance of building shields fast at the start).
  • Take Enraged Regen to boost your shield at the start of the fight and after every Blood Rage phase.
  • If your shield is removed and you have lost %HP, use Last Stand to restore some of it.
  • Use Rallying Cry and Demoralizing Banner during the Blood Rage phases.
  • For heroic: drop your Mocking Banner in the center of the room just after adds spawn. Tell DPS to run within the center ring to have adds removed. Your Banner will handle two sets of adds.
  • Vial of Living Corruption and Juggernaut's Focusing Crystal, Resolve of Niuzao if you don't have one of the above.

Spoils of Pandaria

Tips:
  • Energy per box is 14 for massives, 3 for larges and 1 for smalls. Make sure you count and don't overpull.
  • Disrupting Shout is great for not just interrupting, but to group adds together when they're standing still hard-casting.
  • Bigger adds cannot be stunned unless you have the Tanking buff, so DR or BS over Shockwave.
  • General tip: always begin moving towards the next set of boxes you're going to open when the current adds are between 15 and 10% HP, which overall will cut a good 30sec off your total time just by being efficient at opening.
  • For heroic: pull both massive crates, four smalls, and all larges and you'll have exactly enough energy. Start by opening both panda crates and once one panda is dead, open a large crate. Once the other panda dies, open a massive crate and one small. If the small is not an encased kuhchong/burial urn, open another small. Once both smalls and the large are dead, wait until the massive is low, then open another large. Once the massive is dead, open another large. Continue opening one large at a time such that you have a half dead large and a fresh large on you at all times until you run out of larges. Then open the remaining massive and two smalls. With this strategy, Bladestorm won't have enough targets to be useful. Take Dragon Roar.
  • Make sure your raid knows which direction you're going to go around the room opening boxes, especially on the Mantid side. This will allow DPS and healers to put bombs in good places.
  • If bombs are in bad places and you must open a box in an area covered in bombs, tell your melee to hang back, pop a large CD, put up a full SBar and clear the bombs. Warn your healers.

Thok the Bloodthirsty

Tips:
  • Coordinate Skull and Demoralizing Banner with your raid's needs during the stacking phases.
  • Use due caution when using Rallying Cry. A small percentage of health is lost when the effect expires. (On the order of 6% health lost upon expiration.)
  • Vigilance the activate tank.
  • Bring the jailor to a spot off to the side of the path Thok will be running during Fixate and tell your raid where you're taking him each time.
  • VERY IMPORTANT to move into position early and Taunt Thok at the moment he devours the prisoners. You MUST Taunt him, as his threat table will always be the last person Fixated, and the threat you built from the earlier phases will not carry over when he becomes active after devouring a prisoner.
  • Juggernaut's Focusing Crystal and Rook's Unlucky Talisman are good trinket choices for this fight. The Vial of Living Corruption is not recommended because the chase phases should give your CDs ample time to refresh.
  • Once you've built decent Vengeance (~10s after taunting), prioritize Shield Barrier over Shield Block. Continue using Shield Barrier after your offtank has taunted off you to assist the healers.
  • Take Impending Victory to have a dependable, frequent source of healing.
  • Particularly for Heroic, make sure you have a CD up (Demoralizing Shout or Ironbark are recommended) when your group is transitioning to a chase phase as you may be punted out of healing range.

Tips:
  • Spec into Dragon Roar and save it to take adds down. If you will get a Death From Above, save your DR for after that.
  • Use Heroic Leap to get the add 40yds away from the boss in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Run out for Death From Above, charge back in, and pop Shield Block to have a better chance of one or two shotting the add after Death From Above. For Heroic, your rotation after Death From Above should be: Dragon Roar, then Shield Slam with Shield Block up, Heroic Strike if the Shield Slam procced it, and Execute if needed.
  • For Heroic: do not chance a death. If there is any possibility that you will die from Electrostatic Charge, call for an external CD.
  • If Death From Above might land on your DPS, warn them.
  • Take Impending Victory to top yourself before a Charge.
  • Use the Curse of Hubris and Vial of Living Corruption. The stam will help you survve Charge stacks and the Curse will help you burn adds down.

Paragons of the Klaxxi

Tips:
  • Korven's Vicious Assault hits hard, put up a Shield Barrier before Shield Bash hits and use a CD. If you're taking more than one stack of it, use a large personal CD and also call for an external CD.
  • Take Dragon Roar, not Bladestorm. Use Dragon Roar on the bug your raid currently killing. Remember that any damage you put on a boss your group isn't killing next is wasted unless your strat specifically calls to bait some mechanic.
  • Use Ultimatum procs on Heroic Strike, not Cleave.
  • Use Rook's Unlucky Talisman for Korven's Assault.
  • Keep which boss you've tanked and any vulnerabilities they've given you in mind. Don't tank a boss you are going to take more damage from.
  • Enraged Regen can be used just before Shield Bash to provide healing during Vicious Assault.

Links:

Garrosh Hellscream

Tips:
  • Juggernaut's Focusing Crystal will be helpful in counteracting the DoT in the later phases.
  • Have a Shield Barrier up when the DoT expires in the last phase.
  • Consider using Rook's Unlucky Talisman if the Whirlwinds hurt.
  • For most cases, take Dragon Roar. The adds are only in the first phase and they should die fairly quickly.
  • If adds are still alive during Hellscream's Warsong, pop a large CD.
  • Spec into Safeguard, you'll be near your offtank for most of the fight.
  • If DR is off CD, but Touch of Y'shaarj is coming up soon, save it and use it on your friends once they've been MCed.
  • Spec into Disrupting Shout to prevent MCed friends from MCing more friends.

Immerseus:

-Adds don't live long enough to justify Bladestorm. The stun from Shockwave can be beneficial, but the likelihood of it hitting 3+ adds is low. With vengeance, Dragon Roar nearly one-shots the adds. Overall, I'd recommend DR, but Shockwave is also viable.

-Save Heroic Leap. It's upfront damage isn't quite as valuable as the ability to get to adds quickly and put damage on them immediately if they are getting uncomfortably close to the boss.

-Vigilance over Safeguard. With the frontal cone ability, Safeguard is too risky.

-Consider Storm Bolt, depending on whether your raid is having trouble finishing off adds.

-Make sure you have consistent positioning and are in place before the reappears. Don't risk killing raid members.

The Fallen Protectors:

-Keep Disrupting Shout on hand to toss interrupts on Sun while keeping He as your focus. This helps to ensure that you have your back properly turned when he's casting Gouge. Don't rely on where you think he is. You have to look. He bounces around an obnoxious amount.

-Vigilance again. Your offtank is going to be in BFE with Rook or you'll be in BFE with Rook. Either way, you won't be in position to Safeguard due to Rook's frontal cone.

-Don't tank Rook and He simultaneously. Rook's stun and He's Gouge do not play well together.

-Bladestorm helps with adds in parts, but they tend to die fast enough that Dragon Roar may be better.

Norushen:

-Communicate with your raid when you need to go down to clear your corruption. Don't just ninja an orb.

-Keep Disrupting Shout as an emergency interrupt when you're taking the trial to reset your corruption.

-Vigilance again, but this time it's primarily to ensure you have enough interrupts to deal with adds.

-Dragon Roar. The adds die too quickly for Bladestorm (unless a DPS fails their trial).

Sha of Pride:

-Set your offtank as your focus. It is essential to taunt as soon as the debuff appears.

-If you're between 50-74 pride, you WILL have to soak your personal bouncing bolt. It should spawn within melee range of the boss, but be prepared to HL out to it and communicate to your offtank if you will have to leave melee range.

-If your raid is not having the tanks stack on the rest of the raid for adds, don't help AoE them between tank swaps. You will pull aggro and you will end up dragging any that aren't dead away from the people who need to be killing them.

-Despite the adds and how long they stay alive, DR is the way to go unless your raid is doing the fight in such a way that the tanks are helping kill the adds. In which case, Bladestorm.

Galakras:

-Bladestorm.

-Make sure your DPS know that threat isn't magical. You have to hit things first. That being said, don't waste time.

-Once you have established threat, get the adds in the fire. Call for ranged to interrupt the casters as needed.

-Don't aim the minibosses at the melee. Try to minimize movement when they're out.

-Despite the incline, Heroic Leap will often work if used only a short distance away.

Iron Juggernaut:

-Just a tank and spank. Make sure that you click on crawler mines if you're not actively on the boss. Despite the Dungeon Journal saying that do 1.2mil (25N), the damage really isn't anything to worry about. Make sure you have a full 60 rage SBar up just prior to clicking.

-Charge to recover from the mines' knock-up.

-Tank the boss from max melee range to avoid the drill's lines.

Kor'kron Dark Shaman:

-Haromm should be kept as stationary as possible to help the melee. When a tank swap occurs, the tank on Kardris should bring her over, taunt Haromm, and then the previos Haromm tank should take Kardris and return to normal positioning.

-The tank's position determines where Ashen Walls land. Try to keep them parallel to one another and as close together as possible without taking excessive damage from them.

-SBar, SBar, SBar. It's a magic-heavy fight. Stack avoidance HARD to have the rage gen to keep up. With full-avoidance, I took 19 stacks from Haromm with aplomb and could have done more (I don't necessarily recommend taking that many). You must have a full 60 rage SBar up for each of Haromm's casts.

-Unless your co-tank is another warrior, they cannot take as many stacks as you.

-Vigilance.

Nazgrim:

-Dragon Roar. There aren't quite enough adds close together to really benefit from Bladestorm. Consider Shockwave if your raid needs the stuns.

-Have a DPS taunt if you end up with a warshaman on you and you have to tank. Do not under any circumstances bring the warshaman within range of the boss.

-Safeguard should be fine. I have not tested to see whether it will intercept the stacks from Nazgrim.

-Ironblade adds can be disarmed. If you have to bring one to the boss, disarm it first.

On Norushen, something that helped me immensely on the test as a prot warrior was spell reflect. You're able to reflect the Hurl Corruption back at the add for a significant amount of damage. If you take mass spell reflect as well, you'll be able to easily reflect every Hurl Corruption, which can speed up the test by quite a bit.

Was about to post about the spell reflect.  Can confirm, does work and it's very effective at speeding up the test.

The guide says Burst of Corruption can be avoided but I am not confident it can.  I was not able to avoid and all other guides have stated it is unavoidable.

Norushen:

I was also unable to avoid Burst of Corruption

Iron Juggernaut:

I found it very helpful to use heroic leap and charge to get to the Crawler mines faster. I used the Double Time skill and may use Glyph of Long Charge next time as well. It avoided any kind of fall damage by using these after being blasted up in the air by the mines.

Regarding the Burst of Corruption and Spell Reflect.

Below is our Norushen kill snippet ( I cleansed corruption twice ), You can see here that I was taking between 100k and 180k damage with Spell Reflect up... and more importantly that Spell Reflect did not fade when I got hit by Burst of Corruption! It cannot be reflected. Hurl of Corruption can though and I'll be trying for that next time!

Galakras: glyph of blitz will make controlling the adds on the ground so much easier. Also, if knocked back by Arcing Smash on top of the first tower, remember you can charge back from midair if you're quick enough.

Wing 3 tips, targetted mostly for normal mode progression guilds or guilds who are still learning the fights, not top-players or Heroic guilds:

For Malkorok:

-Depending on the skill and awareness level of your raid, I found it beneficial to have the off-tank put a raid marker down on the safe stack-point after 3 Arcing Smashes, about 5 yards deep from the center of the room where he's usually tanked (and move the boss there), to avoid anyone getting hit by Blood of Y'saarj because they were too close to the point where all 3 ground effects converge in the middle.

-Also, if you use Gylph of Shield wall, I recommend removing it, because the Blood Rage where everyone stacks to soak the cone damage, is EXACTLY 2minutes apart every single time, no RNG involved; ensuring you have a Shield Wall up for everyone one of them.

-Coordinate Demoralizing Banner and Rallying Cry during Blood Rage as well, every bit helps.

-If your raid is having a difficult time building Healing Absorption Shields at the very start of Malkorok, you can pull the boss from the back of the room and Heroic Leap to your raid before truly beginning the fight in the middle, which will give about 3 seconds for healers to build a shield before you start taking heavy damage (however, I'd recommend this ONLY if your healers are struggling to grasp the importance of building shields fast at the start).

Spoils of Pandaria:

-Tanks will make or break this fight. I've found the most proficient strategy for me was pulling the 2 Panda Crates first grabbing the buff, and then immediately opening a Massive (mini boss). When that boss reaches 10% HP, pull another Mini-boss. This will bring you to 28/50 Energy already. However, if on the Mantid side you're struggling with the bomb placements, I do 2 Panda boxes, then mini boss, then ONLY medium/small until exactly 36 energy. By that point, the bombs from the 1st mini boss should be gone, you can then pull the 2nd mini boss on Mantid and zerg, giving you more room to place bombs, and bringing you to 50/50 energy when it dies.

-The biggest mistake Tanks make is seeing the time limit and pulling more than you or your raid can handle. THE ENERGY FOR EACH BOX WILL ALWAYS BE: 14 for mini boss, 4 for medium, and 1 for small. Instead of trying to open 5 at a time to beat the timer, it is VERY viable to open JUST the mini boss and single target (14 energy) then 2nd mini boss (28 energy) then 1medium+1small (33 energy), medium+small (38 energy) medium+small (43 energy) medium+small (48 energy) then small+small (50 energy). Do not open any more while each pair of boxes are alive. Doing this, your raid will literally blow through each pair of boxes, instead of having 5 boxes up at once and taking over a minute to kill them before you can move on, and subjecting yourself to much higher raid damage and room for error.

-Once your raid has it on farm, sure go wild with the boxes.

-Disrupting Shout is great for not just interrupting, but to group adds together when they're standing still hard-casting.

-Shockwave will save your life if you get low and your healers are busy, such as how healers frequently get targeted by Set to Blow on Mantid.

-Bloodbath is a god-send for obliterating adds when working on the medium+small pairs to speed things up for your raid.

-General tip: always beging moving towards the next set of boxes you're going to open when the current adds are between 15 and 10% HP, which overall will cut a good 30sec off your total time just by being efficient at opening.

Thok:

-Essential to coordinate Skull and Demoralizing Banner during the stacking phases, and being very careful with Rallying Cry, due to the fact that the 20% HP boost is lost when the effect expires (example: after the Thok's screech, if your raid is at 65% HP and would otherwise continue with the phase, when Rallying Cry wears off, they will lose the 20% and could potentially push the phase early by accident)

-Vigilance the activate tank

-Heroic Leap is great when tank swapping so the boss doesn't turn and you not needing to run in and out of the boss's front which could potentially snatch an accidental stack meant for the other tank.

-Bring the jailor to a spot off to the side of the path Thok will be running during Fixate and tell your raid where you're taking him each time.

-VERY IMPORTANT to move into position early and Taunt Thok at the moment he devours the prisoners. You MUST Taunt him, as his threat table will always be the last person Fixated, and your previous threat you built from the earlier phases will not carry over or resume when he becomes active after devouring a prisoner.

Is there a guide up yet for the rest of the fights? specifically wing 4? also could someone elaborate on what "Sbar" Means wasn't sure what you're referring to.

The general guides for the fights are up in the "Raid" section of the website. The class & spec specific tips are given on a volunteer basis by the players who have done them, so unless they post it here I cannot magically make them appear.

SBar means Shield Barrier.

(Also, I finally found the time [and remembered] to add smackthekids' tips. Sorry for the delay classes are *CRAZY*)

Just something I found useful on Galakras, made macro that read something like this: "/tar shaman /cast herioc throw /cast taunt"  and used the glyph of Gag Order. In that way you can tank the melee adds and bring one shaman down to your position (usaully in Jaina's blizzard or Aethas' flamestrike). Just make it easier to reposition the shaman and not move yourself to much.

Even though this thead is a bit old, the content is still relevant. Since I recently started tanking SoO, here are some warrior specific tips I learned about some of the fights that could be useful to others:

The Fallen Protectors:

- If you're tanking Rook, you'll note that his damage is pretty consistent. A full Sbar for every Vengeful Strikes and keeping Sblk running outside of Vengeful Strikes will keep you in good order. As such, don't hesitate to use Shield Wall, or even multiple CDs, when his adds spawn. Being able to hold them in one spot and withstand the ground effects makes dpsing them down much simpler. Your cooldowns should be back for the next set of Rook adds.

Galakras:

Tower tank view:

- Before you head off for the tower, drop a Vigilance on the offtank. He'll be knee deep in poison clouds and could probably use the help. Vigilance should be back in time to drop it on the offtank again before you head off to the second tower.

- Once you enter the tower, a Tclap on the adds is enough to grab them and climb to the top of the tower. Once at the top, you can place your Mocking Banner next to the ramp to make sure that the ranged adds, who tend to climb very slowly, stay firmly on you once they emerge onto the roof. If your raid burns down the first demolisher quickly, then you should have enough time between towers to have Mocking Banner back off cooldown for the second tower.

- When tanking the tower boss, the knockback off the tower is of very little concern. Just keep your trigger finger ready on Charge and you can charge back to the boss before you fall off. With Double Time, you can even do that twice before you're really in any danger of falling off. It is of course much easier and safer to simply avoid it

- If you're not certain that your healer is on your tail, don't hesitate to use Shield Wall the moment you engage a tower boss. Their damage is surprisingly high and they'll burn you down in moments with a healer or CDs. The cooldown on SW should be back for the next tower.

- Heroic Leap can be used to jump off the tower and negate the falling damage. When jumping down, beware the cliffs next to the tower. They can mess up your Heroic Leap targeting. Select an open area to leap to. I suggest you practice leaping from a fall outside the raid until you're comfortable enough to use it in a raid setting.

General Nazgrim:

- Stormbolt and glyphed Heroic Throw are both great emergency interrupts to use on Shamans that get uncomfortably close to the boss. Also, Stormbolt is an all-purpose assist for stunning Assassins, stopping the whirling Ironblades, or interrupting either of the casters without moving from the boss (much).

- The Assassins can be hamstrung and disarmed. If you're not currently tanking and there is an assassin about, a quick charge, hamstring, disarm, charge back to boss will take only a few seconds and relieve pressure on your beleaguered ranged dps.

- When you taunt the boss during Defensive Stance, you might have to wait a while for the first stack to appear on you before you can start attacking. During that time, the offtank's Vengeance laden dots and ground effects might put him in danger of accidentally pulling the boss back. Be ready to drop Vigilance on someone to remove the CD of your Taunt and grab the boss again.

Siegecrafter Blackfuse:

- Communicate with your offtank. Try to time a tank swap about 2 seconds before the add spawns. This will allow you to take in the scene and pick your desired tanking spot before the add gets dangerously close to your raid or the boss. When swapping, ensure that you still get 3 stacks from the boss to boost your damage appropriately for the shredder.

- Prot warriors are capable of bursting a lot of damage in a short window. This plays a very important role in this fight. When the Shredder you're tanking lands after doing Death From Above, you'll have a 5 second window in which it is stunned and takes much more damage. Prepare your dps cooldowns and deploy them here to great effect. Dragon's Roar, Avatar, Recklessness, Heavy Reprecussion+Shield Slam combined should net you some insane crits. If there are no ground effects helping you, consider casting Shattering Throw just before the shredder lands as well.

- If you're having trouble placing the shredder in a blade or fire, pull the shredder next to (even if not in) the ground effect, then Heroic Leap to the opposite side of the ground effect from the shredder, causing it to reposition while avoiding walking into fire or clipping blades.

- Ensure that you pool up some rage before you head off towards the add. This will allow you to activate a full Sbar in case you need to clip a blade or cross a fire line to best position the add.

- Vigilance on your offtank during Protective Frenzy. The tank will usually save his cds for the later stacks, so if Protective Frenzy pops early, you can cover him with Vigilance.

So the stat priority page of the guide ranks haste much higher than strength but the consumables guide recommends the feast for strength even though the haste food offers more haste which should make it the better choice surely?
Hoping someone more aware of the theorycrafting to clear that up for me.

This mainly applies for raiding by the way but if there is a different answer for M+ I am interested to know the answer there.

Hey everybody! So the other day, I decided to make a 5-minute guide on how to play the Warrior class in WoW. It's not super in-depth, but I just wanted some good feedback from the Warrior community on this. Lemme know what you guys think! I also hope that this is able to help somebody out there.   ?
