Fury DPS assistance!

Recommended Posts

Hello y'all,

So I'll cut right to the chase. I feel like I'm under performing. Or I could be doing just fine with my current gear/stats (SimCraft may have given me unrealistic expectations).

https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/malganis/veinsplitter

I have decent stats, draught and convergence, and my 4 piece. These are all on the lower side, so I think that would be one way to improve my DPS, but that's not what I'm here for. I ran a Sim today and it states that under ideal conditions and a perfect run, I should be doing around 900k, with an initial burst of 1.7k, and a couple peaks around a mil. I don't see these numbers, especially the peaks of 1 mil, while I run though, which leads me to my original point of me thinking I'm doing something wrong.

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/zfyq3C6JkFvngHVt#fight=6&view=rankings Heroic Krosus

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/CygxKrJPNhfz82dB#view=rankings Heroic Guldan

One thing someone will probably point out is that I wasn't using pre-pots on either of those. That'll change in the future.

My rotation is based off of the Fury Discord guide.

Opener - Charge/BT/BC/Rampage/Drought/RB

I'll usually then BT or Rampage based on rage, OF, and then go into a priority system of Enraged RB > BT > FS > RB

Rampage at 100 rage.

At execute phase, my execute rotation is:

Execute/FS/BT in that order to keep myself at 100 rage for Frothing. While this is what the Fury Discord states, I tend to not get a ton of Execute damage on the boss and feel this is one area I could be doing something wrong.

On add fights, I know that I don't incorporate Whirlwind enough into my rotation, and that's something I need to be a bit mindful of. But after I burst, I tend to drop down at a steady rate. I don't usually see my DPS jump back up unless I Drought (which makes sense), but when I'm doing my standard rotation I can't keep my numbers up. Krosus should be a straight forward fight, but if you look at the logs, my dps drops to around 500k. Am I screwing something up? Or am I pulling comparable DPS to a fury warrior with 897 ilvl.

Thank you all for any help you can provide to me. I greatly appreciate it. I just want to bring honor and glory to all of my warrior brethren out there.

Hey Nesmuricus,

Something I noticed that would help is changing around your opener a little, I saw that you put OF outside of your BC window, should always save OF to use in a BC window if you can help it.

But yeah for your opener, what I do is Pre pot Old War, Charge and pop my cool downs macro to activate Avatar and BC. Then you want to rampage to get enrage, then Odyn's Fury and then you pop draught of souls. After that you should have enough of a BC window left to get off a BT for a guaranteed enrage, then raging blow, furious slash. Then continue the rotation.

To really boost your execute phase, keep an eye on BC cool down around 25% of boss health, if BC is about to come off, save it and when you hit 20%, BC, BT, and then spam executes fitting in a last BT just before BC ends, then continue the rotation of Execute, BT, RB, while dumping all rage into execute whenever you are enraged and again when BC comes up do the same as before (and do everything you can to keep up juggernaut stacks!! will be critting huge with them).

Hope this helps

Good afternoon, Nesmuricus.

First off, I want you to do me a favor - stop taking simulationcraft results as an end-all-be-all expectation of reality. SimulationCraft is a calculator of perfection within given parameters. Like any calculator, it always gives the correct answer but it requires you to input the right question, if that makes sense. (Hinting at a custom APL here, but that's the least of your concerns right now.)

SimulationCraft is a great tool when used properly and for the right reasons. (Calculating stat weights, seeing which piece can theoretically give better numbers, etc.) Using it to see how much DPS you should be doing is not what it's meant for. You will never reach a perfect situation and, as such, you will always be under the projected numbers. Comparing yourself to perfection will only aggravate you. Stop doing that.

===================================

I looked over your Heroic Krosus log that you provided. A couple points here and there:

  • As noted, you didn't prepot. Two potions used can come out to be about 10% of your overall damage. It's a lot so make sure to use two.
  • Your Enrage up time is decent; around 80%.
  • You have your legendary cloak. The only thing I noticed is you let the buff fall off for a short period of time. This is a rotation problem. (You didn't die, so you missed a BT cast when you needed to maintain the 4% buff).
  • The biggest problem is you're missing a lot of Raging Blow casts. You missed about 25% of your potential casts (hitting 41 out of a possible 55). That's a lot of missed damage.

With the last two points in mind, it seems your issues primarily revolve around a misunderstanding in your ability priority. A lot of players get "rotation" and "priority" mixed up, thinking they mean the same thing, when they don't.

With your 4PC and Draught, your opener looks to be correct.

  • CDs (Avatar / Battle Cry) -> Rampage -> Draught of Souls -> Raging Blow -> Bloodthirst.

If you have Hero rolling on your opener you can continue that opener with Odyn's Fury. Without Hero, though, you'll want to save Odyn's for your next Battle Cry Window (while using your Convergeance of Fates).

A note on Odyn's Fury - only use it during a Battle Cry window (while using your Convergeance of Fates). If you're not using CoF, you'll want to use it during a Battle Cry window (primarily) or use it in place of a Furious Slash when you're Enraged and have Frothing Berserker up.

Outside of this you have a pretty simple priority (single target):

  • Raging Blow (If Enraged)
  • Rampage (Only at 100 Rage)
  • Raging Blow
  • Bloodthirst
  • Furious Slash

Again, this is a priority system; not a flat rotation.

===================================

All of this information (save the log review) can be found in Archimtiros's 7.2 Fury Warrior Guide over on MMO-Champion.

I hope this helps. If you should have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Get your spell priority under control and your numbers will get better.

Raid/Class Spots Are Open To Any Applicant If The Player Is The Right Fit
A guild formed with an ambition for progression and a love for M+ we decided to make the move from Silvermoon Alliance and form a guild to take our focus to the next level, Cutting Edge in 10.1 being the next step.
We believe in building a guild by recruit players of a similar goal and mentality whether it be for raiding or for push score in Mythic plus. We value loyalty, honesty and a positive attitude towards setbacks. Communication skills are an absolute must.
      Raid Schedule
      Wednesday 20:30-23:00 Sunday 20:30-23:00
      Current Progression
      9/9HC 5/9M
What are we looking for recruitment wise?
We're currently open to recruiting DPS classes listed above, as we aim to solidify a stable 25-player roster. We're looking to provide competition to existing members and choose the best 25 players to proceed with for next tier.

<Fun is for Casuals> is a serious but casual horde guild on US-Hyjal. We are serious about raiding without the intense hours. Even when recruitment status is none, we will accept exceptional applications for all classes.
Our raid times are Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30PM to 8:30PM server (PST) with raid invitations sent out a few minutes prior to that.
We're interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
Raid attendance is essential. We don't want people sitting on the bench but we also want to make sure we're raiding 6 hours per week. We expect you to be available for at least 90% of our raids. Be on time and prepared for raids. This includes flasks and other consumables. Discord is mandatory and a working mic is desired. You're appropriately geared for our current content. Effort and thought have been put into your gear/gem/enchant choices. You wouldn't show up for a job interview looking like a *filtered*, why would you apply to a guild with improper gems or some insane spec? You're up to date with your class. We expect our raiders to perform to the best of their abilities. You have a computer that's not run with hamster power or requires a hand crank. Some encounters are taxing on a computer's resources so if your toon can't even handle Orgrimmar it's not likely to do well with 20+ whelps that need AOE'ing. You may be interested in us because:
<Fun is for Casuals> uses the personal loot system. There is no loot council, or DKP. We won't eat your babies the first time you stand in something you have no business being in. Repeatedly do it and we'll break out the bibs and BBQ sauce. We provide a limited amount of consumables and flasks on hard mode raid nights.  Discord isn't a circus during raids. We're focused on the job at hand and you should be too. We don't want someone to miss a an interrupt because they were distracted by fart jokes. We are not interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
You roll on BoE items then sell them. Unwilling/unable to spend an entire evening on one boss during progression. While this is rare, it can happen. Drama queens. If you have a problem bring it up to E. This is his job. Don't announce it in guild chat or during a raid. Your issue will have nothing to do with 99% of the guild. You are 17 or younger. We try to keep guild and discord chat PG-13 but occasionally a few four letter words appear out of nowhere. Additionally, we don't want someone's mom interrupting their raiding to get homework or the dishes done. Follow the instructions at https://gow.gg/fun-is-for-casuals under the Recruitment tab if you would like to apply.

      Hi Team
I am recently returning from a few years away from the game and I have decided to go back to my much loved main throughout wrath, the feral druid. I have always been a cut above the rest and managed to be top dps all through wrath.
I was reading your guide and noticed in the talents you don't take savage roar. Can you explain the match behind this as to me it seems like the more viable option.
