7.2 Hotfixes: May 22nd

Recommended Posts

Some big news in today's hotfixes as the Artifact Knowledge cap gets reduced by 10 down to 40 and we get some dev insight into why they reduced it. We also see some Monk Stagger fixes and PvP Paladin Judge UnworthyJudge Unworthy changes, as well as the previously tweeted 15 minute limit to Deepwind Dunk.

Blizzard LogoBlizzard (source)

Achievements

  • Grand OpeningGrand Opening” now requires 8 spotlights activated during the Chronomatic Anomaly encounter (was 12).

Classes

Class Hall

  • Artifact Knowledge can now be researched to a maximum level of 40 (was 50).
    • Developers’ Notes: We raised the Knowledge cap from 40 to 50 very late in the 7.2 PTR cycle, out of an abundance of caution: We wanted to ensure that players of all playstyles, as well as alt characters, would view the Concordance trait as accessible. However, between the additional Artifact Power gains added in 7.2 and others that were hotfixed in after the patch released, we’re now well ahead of that mark. Knowledge 40 now seems more than sufficient for players to reach Concordance, and the prospect of months’ worth of additional Knowledge still left to research makes some players feel like their efforts in the interim aren’t meaningful. Therefore, we’re rolling the cap back to 40.

Player versus Player

  • Deepwind Dunk is now 15 minutes long, and each player killed during Deepwind Dunk awards 5 points.
  • Paladin

UI

  • Players using Korean and Chinese clients can now chat in public chat channels on the Broken Shore.

Previous hotfixes (May 15th).

Any indication when they are going to increase the cap back to 50? Pretty much gave me a reason not to play till Patch 7.2.5.

I'm confused. I thought they just lowered it. Why would there already be indication that it's to be raised back to 50?

I'm confused as well as to why he would lose his willingness to play until 7.2.5, let's set aside the fact that it's less than a month away, but if anything this impact will have more effect in 7.2.5 than it does now when people are still getting to 40.

Let me rephrase my question. When are they going to increase the cap again? In Argus - Patch 7.3?

Heirloom upgrades in Patch 7.2.5 - I'll only start leveling my alts then.
People are at AK 37, with 2 notes being researched.
Concordance of the Legionfall
Guild only does up to Heroic raiding, and I've already got all the gear I want from Heroic Nighthold.
Up to date with the story questlines.

The people I play with are also playing other MMO games while we wait for Tomb.

They are not going to put it back to 50 at all. They do not want people to grind AP, so they wanted to make sure people got to concordance at a decent rate, then make the rest an endless nightmare so people will not grind to max weapon, since it will be close to impossible in this xpac. 40 is where it will stay, unless they decide to re-work the weapon traits and concordance again, which I doubt.

The fourth War Within Alpha build brought some changes to Skyriding powers.
      Skyriding Power Changes
Skyriding Basics- While falling from a high location, your mount Dragon Isles drake extends its wings to propel you both forward. Pointing yourself downward grants more momentum. Evening out can transfer that momentum forward. Pointing yourself upward slows you down. When at your slowest, you will start to fall slowly toward the ground. You also gain access to the following abilities: Surge Forward Flap forward. Skyward Ascent Flap upward. Skyrider's Initiative- While dragonriding skyriding at middle speed and above, you gain stacks of Dragonrider's Skyrider's Initiative, up to 10. When landing at mid-to-high speeds, you create a shockwave, damaging enemies for [ Greater of {72% of Spell Power} or {72% of Attack Power * (1 + 0) / 10} ] per stack, split among them, and disorienting them for 3 sec. Landing at low speeds cancels Dragonrider's Skyrider's Initiative. Skyrider's Hunt- Defeating an enemy increases your Vigor  will grant your you 1 vigor. Vigor recharge rate by 10% for 3 sec. This effect can only occur once every 10 sec. Ground Skimming- When dragonriding skyriding near the ground, you regenerate 1 Vigor every 30 sec. This effect does not occur while affected by Thrill of the Skies unless Swift Skimming is learned. Thrill of the Skies- While dragonriding skyriding at high speeds, you regenerate 1 Vigor every 15 sec. Vigor- Dragonriding Skyriding abilities spend Vigor. Spending time on the ground, whether mounted or dismounted, regenerates 1 Vigor every 30 sec. Skyrider's Cultivation- Gathering herbs or minerals increases your Vigor recharge rate by 400% for 3 sec will replenish 1 vigor. Skyrider's Compassion- While airborne on a Skyriding mount, Dragon Isles drake, you gain stacks of Dragonrider's Skyrider's Compassion, up to 10. When you dismount, you gain a shield worth 1% of your health and gain 1% movement speed per stack, lasting 30 sec Lift Off- When mounted on a dragonriding skyriding mount, double jump to launch upward and start gliding forward. Skyriding Skill Track
In the War Within expansion, the Dragonriding Skill Track has been updated:
Dragonriding Glyphs have been renamed to Skyriding power (current PH name is Dragon Power) You will gain extra Skyriding power as you level. The costs of all Skyriding Powers has been reduced to 1 Dragon Power. A premade Level 70 template character starts with 20 Skyriding power and can unlock all the perks in the tree.
On the right side, you can enable/disable the Ride Along feature and the second node lets you pick between Whirling Surge and Lightning Rush at no cost.

All Mists of Pandaria raids and World Bosses are on a daily lockout in Patch 10.2.7.
We're not sure if the change is intended or a MoP Remix feature, but somehow, daily lockouts for MoP raids and World Bosses have slipped through to live servers even before the event's starts on May 16. Maybe this is a way to give retail players more chances on Tusks of Mannoroth since you can buy them directly from a vendor during MoP Remix.
If you're farming Garrosh, don't forget there is a skip at the beginning of the raid. As you enter, interact with the scroll on the wall.
