wow Patch 7.2.5 - Shoe-Shine Kit Hidden Toy Update

This week's 7.2.5 PTR patch added a new tracking quest (fix?) for the undiscovered Shoe Shine Kit vanity item.

Shoe Shine Kit is one of the few items that haven't been discovered yet and it should be available in the game since Legion launch. Every Sunday, Sheddle Glossgleam leaves the toy store (2nd floor of Photonic Playground - 44, 47) at 12 AM (PST) / 3 AM (EST) realm time and goes drinking in Legendermain Lounge. During his absence, a chest spawns, but nobody managed to open it yet. The WoW community has cracked down mysteries far harder than this, which is why I believe the chest couldn't be opened until now and Blizzard stealth fixed this in the latest PTR build by adding a new tracking quest related to the toy - Shoe Shine Kit Tracking Quest.  Notice the different ID in the old quest -  Shoe Shine Kit Tracking Quest.

Guess we'll have to wait and see until midnight if someone's able to obtain the toy on PTR. If this proves to be true, redditor Wobbelblob could have been right all along!

This kind of thing is why I keep /ranting about mysteries in WoW. There's so many things in the game which *could* be unsolved mysteries... but there's no way to tell what's just for flavor versus what's a puzzle; for the puzzles, what's just unsolved, versus what's broken. This also applies to the hidden weapon skins.

I don't really *mind* puzzles, but I haven't gotten much fun out of them. Most of them are big-group efforts, not anything I could ever have figured out on my own. The ways they've been implemented are also not optimal. WoW has never been a game with secret caves in bushes before, or non-quest dialogues that change depending on what you have in your bags. Or the very worst, an event with an RNG factor, where you have no clue to go back but that's the only way you'll ever find whatever it is. None of this really feels like "WoW" to me.
