Patch 7.2.5-related Dev Tweets

Recommended Posts

All the details and answered questions that weren't covered in the patch notes, straight from the devs.

Update: One more tweet to add to the pile, regarding when exactly those shiny new legendaries will drop and at what ilev:

7.2.5 is going live tomorrow in the US, Wednesday for EU, and while we've covered the official patch notes, PvP additions and have our own in-depth survival guide to get you ready for everything the patch has to offer, there have been a lot of explanations for the various features from the devs on twitter, so we thought we'd pile them all up in one handy place.

First off, the maintenance will be a big one, as per all patch releases, with at least 8 hours of downtime.

Then we have the clarification that Emissary quests "should not" be affected by the patch, so no resets or a bunch of new ones coming tomorrow.

A great reminder about when the new higher Mythic+ rewards will kick in:

As usual, most of the questions were about Ahead of the Curve: Gul'danAhead of the Curve: Gul'dan and Cutting Edge: Gul'danCutting Edge: Gul'dan, and we got yet more confirmation that you can still get them until Tomb opens (on June 20th/21st). And in other Gul'dan news, with the nerf to NH tier sets and the 7.2.5 class changes arriving, some people worried it would make the raid more difficult when the patch hits, but there will be adjustments to Gul'dan's difficulty so no one suddenly has a harder time after tomorrow's changes.

On bonus rolls in ToS:

The new 7.2.5 legendaries will not be obtainable from relinquished tokens and the tokens themselves will not get an ilevel bump, so there's no reason to hoard them.

And then there was the long standing question of the new Legendary Rings, and the hope they might be quest rewards and not random drops, but alas it wasn't to be:

And that's about it, for any other details and info on tomorrow's patch, check our survival guide.

im so sad about the rings, they were so interesting, they all talked about your order hall and were so cool, and it would have been amazing if you got them from the final order hall quest, and with that could equip them as you wish, or a third legendary, but nope, just more random legendaries

100% completely agreed.  I think it's stupid on Blizzard's part to put in a very specific type of legendary that greatly impacts the way the class will be played and then make it only obtainable through the ungodly fail RNG legendary drop system.  But then again, wow is turning into diablo 3 so pretty soon it'll be legendaries everywhere and possibly even set legendaries /sarcasm...

But I think it should be a questline similar to the order hall campaign or even the broken shore/suramar questlines.  I mean having that legendary to them may not make or break a build but it will impact where players stand on the charts especially when it comes to high level raiding.   I.E. two havoc demon hunters with all BiS gear from M NH but one has the talent ring, and the other has anger of the half giants.  Not only will the one with the talent ring have the same build as the other DH but they will also get their choice of bloodlet or chaos cleave which will also increase their chaos strike damage.  The one with the talent ring will more than likely pull ahead depending on demon's blade procs (another thing I'm super salty about).

More and more legendaries = less value of the fact that they are legendaries.

Ok rant over...

like the legendary ring SCREAMS *Comes from order hall campaign*

the names are the titles we get from our class hall

and it talks about the class hall, plus these are so unique, all rings, all talents, all classes like wtf!?

this would have been amazing, complete the final quest, this way people with bad RNG can get this, or it is a garunteed 1 legendary for alts

also this would be so cool to have as a third legendary you can just equip, cause really we did not get a "legendary" this expansion

just orange epics

Realistically, it's not all that unfair given how long Legion has been out for. If you'd been playing pretty consistently you'd have quite a fair amount of legendaries for your main spec by now.

A lot of people already have all the legendaries for their main spec, and with each class/spec only getting two new legendaries for this whole patch it shouldn't take too long to have the new ones. Obviously it's a pain for those rerolling or starting late but if you consistently do everything to build up your bad luck protection every week, it won't take long for them to drop.

I am a little miffed that the rings aren't a 3rd legendary or from an insane questline like balance of power though, that would've been a fantastic opportunity to continue on!

Too many legendaries. Once you get BiS it's pointless.

I can't really say that it's pointless.  Some do have some really good niche usefulness.  I used the Prydaz shield neck and the retribution 'shield of vengeance' bracers to complete the artifact challenge.  Maybe not necessary but I did use them and was glad i had them.

Maybe never use them again?  maybe.  But I'm glad they were there.

Given the unreliable (can't bank on any specific one dropping) drop rate and the increased competition for drops given you've added more items to the loot table, it just seems like they are going hog wild over legendaries for no real reason.

The new War Within Allied Races was added to the Alpha today and we already have a full look at not only all their customization options, but their dances as well, courtesy of MrGM! You can check out the Earthen's racial abilities here if you missed them earlier.
Let's start with the more dynamic feature, with both male and female dances:
And then there's big amount of customization options, as well as a size comparison with regular dwarves:

So, are we liking the new Allied Race overall? More than actual dwarves?

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?
