Developer Comment:  Death has arrived, and he’s definitely doing his job (somewhat too well). His winrate has climbed a lot faster (and higher) than anticipated, so the majority of these changes are nerfs. In particular, there was really powerful synergy between Trait focused Talent choices and Tormented Souls. We think that by reducing the power of each individual part, it will bring this angel down to Earth.

Developer Comment:  When we looked at how to nerf our Paladin, we knew that Uther was designed to be great at shutting down enemy teams with lockdown, and we want to continue with that as one of his major strengths, but Guardian of Ancient Kings negated these enemy plays too well. Statistically, it isn’t outperforming the other Talents on the tier by a significant margin unless you look at the highest levels of play, but at those levels the power of this talent could feel frustrating to play against. After these changes, we think it will be a situational pick against teams with a lot of hard disables, but may not be the best choice if the team only has 1 or 2 things that will provide the increased Armor.

  • Chromie: Fixed an issue that could allow two instances of Slowing Sands to exist at once.
  • Dehaka: Completing Tissue Regeneration’s Quest will no longer prevent Essence earned via Hero takedowns from Healing Dehaka.
  • Samuro: Fixed an issue causing Windwalk to last 9 seconds rather than 10.
  • Tassadar: Nullification will now correctly apply multiplicatively when the target is also affected by other damage reduction effects.
  • Tassadar: Can no longer use his Basic Attack during Dimensional Shift while in Archon form.
  • Thrall: Percent Health damage dealt by Basic Attacks after casting Feral Spirit with the Alpha Wolf Talent now correctly count as Ability Damage.
  • Thrall: The bonus Heal amount granted by Frostwolf's Grace will no longer apply to all Frostwolf Resilience procs.
  • Tyrande: The Bonus Damage amount that appears in Ranger's buff bar tooltip will now update properly.

Nice to see some nerfs to many of the main offenders. The Brightwing buff is great to see; Pixie Dust was normally getting used to give speed buff to avoid incoming damage rather than prevent incoming basic attacks.

Nice to see Blizzard caring about balance by bringing out these patches at a decent rate. Bad news first then good news: Genji nerf not nearly as big enough to make any difference, the hero is still way too broken, Thrall buff just random number tweaking, the hero is still just horrible compared to every single warrior bruiser ever made, Zeratul nerf is unnecessary BS, the hero with his very high innate skill cap has not been a problem in either QM or competitive and was in the perfect spot balance-wise. Also Blizzard still REFUSES TO NERF COCOON EVEN THOUGH ITS THE SINGLE BIGGEST SOURCE OF PROBLEMS IN THE META. Then the good news: Uther nerf finally, the hero no longer makes people who are CCd become basically invulnerable, needed nerf was delivered, Brightwing buff is actually really good and might actually bring her back in the meta with shield dust + bouncy dust build, Lucio, who was in a tough spot got nice number tweaking, Tassadar got nerfed so he no longer just breaks the video game, Malthael nerf is probably big enough to make him not an issue anymore and Probius got his better ult toned down making him way less of an issue in QM and low rank HL. Overrall torn on this patch, some well needed balancing but some unnecessary stuff too, and still Blizzard refuses to nerf Cocoon.

As a Probius main who's abused Malthael in ranked these past two weeks, I'll say:

  • Finally a Probius nerf that adresses the real issue: counterplay! Killing the Pylons will be really easy now in many circumstances. (Funnily, it's the same nerf to Overcharge as between Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void: can't kill a Nexus, but can a Pylon.)
  • Malthael... well, they've identified the problem (Tormented Souls, Etheral Existence, Memento Mori), but this fine-tuning will lower his winrate by 2% at most. He's staying on top, and I'll keep having fun with him while it lasts.

Ragnaros Level 13 Cauterize Wounds Cauterize Wounds healing is now a singular combined effect each time it heals, instead of a heal effect for each Hero hit. Fixed an issue that caused Cauterize Wounds healing amount to be determined by the damage dealt to the target furthest from the primary Empower Sulfuras target. If Cauterize Wounds is reapplied while already active, any remaining healing will apply over the refreshed duration. Rexxar Base Misha, Charge! [W] Can now be self-cast. Samuro Base Critical Strike [W] Fixed an issue that caused Samuro's Critical Strike stacks to be visible to an enemy Samuro. Hitting more than 3 Heroes at once no longer grants additional Essence. Lurker Strain Cooldown reduction bonus reduced from 3 seconds to 2 seconds. Level 7 Feeding Frenzy REWORK: Cooldown reduction is now a Gambit bonus, starting from 1.5 second cooldown reduction. Each death lowers this by 0.25, up to 3 times. Paralyzing Enzymes REWORK: Gambit removed. Now reduces Drag's target's healing received by 40% while Drag is active and for 2 seconds after. Level 13 Ferocious Stalker Damage bonus reduced from 60% to 50%. Level 16 Tunnelling Claws Movement speed reduced from 125% to 120%. Duration bonus from Soundwave reduced from 0.3 seconds to 0.25 seconds. REWORK: Hitting Heroes while Amp It Up is not active increases the duration of the next Amp It Up by up to 1.5 seconds.
