It's been a while since we'd heard from the race and what a better way to get back into it than with a World First!

Let's start with a little recap for the time that's passed since the last update. When we last checked in there were only three guilds progressing on Fallen Avatar: Method, Exorsus and Limit, while today we saw over 30 on 7/9 and facing down Sargeras' old shell. The Asian guilds made quite the strides as well, as they've caught up very quickly to the top and are absolutely in competition for, at the very least the top 3, and possibly even the No.1 spot. For Maiden of Vigilance, the seventh boss in Tomb, we have 16 EU, 7 US/OC and and least 8 Asian guilds that have downed her and moved on to Avatar.

But the big news of the day, as mentioned in the title, is Method's World First kill of Fallen Avatar. This penultimate boss has lasted quite a bit longer than most, with his closest penultimate friend to have lived that long being Mannoroth back in Hellfire Citadel, who also died on the last day of the reset.

World First Fallen Avatar Mythic by Method

It took Method 453 tries to down this behemoth and they now have the rest of the day (and night) to use their head-start on Kil'jaeden tries. With over 30 guilds still stuck on Avatar, let's see just how much better Method really are and how long it's going to take the next in line to push through.

As usual, if you want to follow the race live and get all the updates as they come in, head on over to Method.gg's progress coverage.

I honestly though that you have forgotten about the race or something :p but damn 453 pulls ! No wonder so many guilds disband mid progression. But hey, it's not like the EN race who finished way too fast.

Why american guilds slow down so quickly even when getting raid 1 day before? Players that much better in EU?

Nope. Just not enough people that can dedicate 18/7 for months on end when there are so many other wonderful things to do in this country.

Well, for one, there was a national holiday just recently, so there's that.

Even though I don't watch the pro scene that much, it seems that there are less racing guilds on the EU server, which means that these guilds are made of the best players, while on the US server, the best players are split among more guilds, making them weaker because they have to use "weaker" players to have the needed amount of players.

The new raid, Crucible of Storms, is coming in a few weeks, on April 16th, and is bringing higher base item level drops than the Battle of Dazar'alor raid. This made it seem that the maximum possible attainable item level was also increasing, since the Mythic level drops from the Crucible are already at or very close to the 425 cap, before any war or titan forging happens and they had a "+" in the dungeon journal, indicating they could be upgraded.
Today Blizzard clarified that the cap would not be increasing, meaning that the Mythic items from the final boss of the new raid won't be able to warforge or titanforge, and the first boss will only be able to warforge.
For more info on the upcoming raid, whether it's release schedule, items dropped or anything else, you can check out our preview.
