Patch 7.3: Antorus, the Burning Throne

Recommended Posts

6SlQeUU.jpg

An early look at Antorus, the Burning Throne. The raid seems to be a mixture of the Tomb of Sargeras and Ulduar, with a clear touch of Titan presence.

Update: We had to hide the video for now and will release it when the raid opens for testing.

The article contains spoilers for Patch 7.3 & beyond.

Encounters

Antorus, the Burning Throne is located in Stygian Wake (Argus). The raid has 11 bosses and potentially another secret boss. We don't know, who Blizzard plans to make Legion's last boss. Argus, the Unmaker sounds like Argus's World Soul, but is that it? Patch 7.3 is still fresh and we'll know more with every new build. So far, the following bosses are listed in the Journal:

  • Garothi Worldbreaker
  • Hounds of Sargeras
  • War Council
  • Portal Keeper Hasabel
  • Eonar, the Lifebinder
  • Imonar the Soulhunter
  • Kin'garoth
  • Varimathras
  • The Coven of Shivarra
  • Aggramar
  • Argus, the Unmaker

Many Antorus boss models can be found in our preview here.

Item Levels

  • Raid Finder - 915+
  • Normal - 930+
  • Heroic - 945+
  • Mythic - 960+

Video link was removed. Sorry about the inconvenience.

The hype is unreal :D

So much of this is unexpected and I'm loving every second of it

You guys gotta admit that the zones alone make this the biggest patch ever in WoW

Seeing as the Great Titan - God of all God-Kings - Aman'Thul himself was datamined, it is plausible that he might have something to do with that secret boss, although it likely would be something similar to Eonar's encounter, with helping Aman'Thul out. Would be fun if a corrupted Algalon, the Observer is the final boss.

Algalon did mention he used only a fraction of his power in WotLK on top of getting a good doze of Fel-corruption, is likely still more than a simple threat to a bunch of heroes with shiny weapons.

To clear things up, extreme conjecture aside, the only fact we have is that there is an Aman'Thul in-game model datamined. Anything else is just a guess. Fun to do though!

If I wouldn't know all this is related to the patch, I would almost feel like new expansion stuff is on the horizon, lol. So many new and unexpected things to see! <3

I don't follow or play on PTR so I get that great first look when I actually complete the content in live builds. The amazement of seeing Argus in the sky after ToS completion, and then have it leading up to this 7.3 announcement, even as a veteran WoW player really did make me all warm and fuzzy inside :)

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas has confirmed that the Dracthyr race will have more class options in The War Within. However, this feature may not be ready in time for the expansion's launch.
This update was highlighted in a tweet by MrGM, who shared insights from a London content creator interview about the Dracthyr.
The plan is to introduce the ability for Dracthyr to play as other classes in War Within. Emphasis on playing in Visage form. Required animations for other classes are actively being worked on. The implementation is unlikely to happen at launch, but targeted for early in the expansion cycle. Placeholder for tweet 1780748422066188399
