Sub/Assassin dps question

Hello friends.

I want to ask you an advice about sub and assasin dps and rotation.

I read more guides, watched logs and still don't understand why I have bad dps.

For example there are 2 logs from Goroth

Heroic Sub: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/f2nmNPGFtX8wk3vA#fight=1&type=summary&source=41

And

Mythic Assassin:https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/tvnx1Z2BaQGYjF7f#type=summary&source=16&view=analytical&fight=5

Can anyone tell me my mistakes?

Thank you

A quick glance at the HC log tells me that:

1. Nightblade was not up for 15% of the fight

2. Death from Above accounts for far too little damage and has not been used off cd. You have 5 casts in a 3m10s fight while it has a 25 second cd. DfA is one of the largest burst DPS jumps compared to regular Eviscerates. If you can't mix DFA in your rotation too well, consider dropping it for more favorable talent in that line. Right now it accounts for only 3.27% of your total damage.

Point 1+2 done right would have probably already given you a blue parse instead of a green one.

The rest is down to maximizing burst phases, something that is a bit harder to distill from logs. In addition, not wasting combo points is a big thing, otherwise you'll suffer in Eviscerate overall damage. If I have a good log on my sub (and I'm only 885 here so comparable noob with the spec) I have nearly 50% Eviscerate damage as part of the overall damage done. With your log, I see a relatively high % of Shadowstrikes and Backstabs, a sign that you've been wasting combo points, which means waiting for 35 energy to Eviscerate more often.

If you have downtimes where you're not using a GCD because no energy, work on sources of additional Haste and look closely at your Shadow Dance pacing.

I have no experience with Sin so you'll need another 'expert' on that :P

Good analysis, but the Death from Above part is not correct.
Here is a 99 percentile log for comparison:

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/pfvXTh7LD2qtn6zw#fight=1&type=damage-done&source=17

Here, DFA does only 3.04 % of the total damage. It's only the AoE part of DFA. The Eviscerate part goes into Eviscerate damage.

I think what hurts most here is not having the legendary bracers. Moreover, the second legendary (Cloak) is one of the worst for single target damage.

The eviscerate damage from DfA is calculated into your eviscerate damage. The DfA damage in logs are only the damage from the AoE component.

      Hi everyone,

We are a guild that transferred from Alexstrasza to join the progression raiding scene as that server is very low population now. We are currently 8/8N and 4/8H uldir, and looking to move into heroics soon and mythic just after.

We do more than just raid, we love to do keys, transmog runs, and even some PvP. We have a large range of players from several walks of life and have a unique and fun atmosphere, we are friendly and love helping people.

We are looking for a few more members for our Sunday/Monday 5-8pm PST, and our tue/third 5-8pm PST. If anyone is interested in raid leading that will work too.

We are primarily east coast based but have a plethora of players that are on at all times of day.

Main needs for our raid team:
      ranged dps
      Healers
      Exceptional players

Of course all players as welcome as we do other guild activities such as world PVP, keys, xmog and other social activities.

So come join this very active guild and we hope to hear from you.

If you would like more information please add my btag at Kaatra#5865.

I look forward to hearing from all of you.
