The official Hero spotlight for Ana has arrived. The Hero can be tested on PTR later today and will go live in a week.

Blizzard just uploaded Ana's spotlight to the official Heroes of the Storm channel.

Ana, Veteran Sniper

As a founding member of Overwatch and one of the world’s best snipers, Ana Amari uses her skills to protect the innocent. Though she went MIA after losing her eye, Ana’s sense of duty and responsibility has brought her back to fight in the Nexus!

Man, she is gonna ROCK in Double Support compositions. I can already see her synergy with the likes of Stukov, Rehgar or Uther. Rather, in my opinion people should start running Full Support compositions (I did it a few times in QM and it was hilarious).

I wish they have added her "Young Ana" skin instead of "Shrike", since it looks so similar to her base skin.

Also, I really hope they add this visual indicator (seen at 1:00) for other Heroes' stacking abilities.

Nova, mind you, an actual sniper, sucks, since her damage is unreliable and situational. Chromie is a much better sniper, because she has a high learning curve and can kill enemies quickly at long ranges. Ana is the healer equivalent of Nova. Her healing is dependent entirely on skillshots and her CC is reliant on her teammates not waking the enemies up. Her only interesting mechanic is the ability to counter burst healing, which could destroy healers like Auriel and Uther, but isn't very reliable either, since it doesn't effect shields and can only be cast as a small radius AoE spell. Her original ultimate, Nano Boost, is an interesting mechanic and could offer a more mage friendly support role, but at the same time requires you to have a mage for it to work properly. And don't even get me started on how you can use it on an allied healer, like Malfurion. Then there's her new spicy ultimate, The Eye Of Horus. It's bad design. I get that she's supposed to be a veteran sniper, but please don't try to turn a sniper character into an actual camper. It can of course be used at near melee range, but risks Ana getting ambushed by her enemies. And when used at long range, if the damage/healing is skillshot based, it turns into a game of "which one of your enemies or teammates gets CC'd first", which defeats the hole purpose of a reliable healer that has always got you back. If all it takes to play Ana is a quick instinct to run, you'll most likely see her running away at critical moments and leaving her teammates to die even at the slightest risk of danger.

So in conclusion, Eye Of Horus is a completely useless ult and her other ultimate is situational at best. Her overall healing requires great skill, and her only way of CC is useless in teamfights, where even one single hit removes the whole effect. And you can't make a healer character around a grenade, since there already is one, in the form of this monstrosity Clear!Clear!

Her total lack of mobility and self heal (do you really want to burn hard utility in the grenade on yourself every fight) means she will only ever be useful in double support.  I'll be worried if the grenade has the numbers to be both a strong heal, short enough CD, AND reduce the other team. Rehgar and other healers survive on a CD "self" heal, but they have next to zero offensive utility in doing so.

People compare her to Morales of "but she works when in the back and not focused". True, but she is point and click, also huge self heals, and has displacement CC of the opponent that is not required PERFECT coordination with your team. Also, as mentioned, she has one heroic choice. While snipping from a far can be fun and clutch. It's unreliable and the only time it works is when you (or your team) have totally messed up. It saves ganks and punishes complete disrespect for a global, but it leaves you vulnerable (think aba hat style) to where you have to be back at max range, most likely away from your whole team who may need you right when it ends. I want to hope, and love the selective cleanse that you have to react to the opponent comp, but I'm worried she will be broken in double support and worthless solo, leaving Blizzard never able to balance her properly (see LiLi)

I like the theory of her, but it looks like it will be a struggle to find her place.

Biotic Grenade has 16 sec CD if I'm not wrong.

Kinda disappointed with her passive, since it reminds me too much of Lunara. Maybe they'll change it just like they did with Morales (remember how it was the same as Muradin's)

Yeah... But given the video emphasis on Ana having "longer range than most Heroes", it appears that her Healing Dart will be a considerable safe move, and it has 2 sec CD with 15 mana cost, meaning it will be quite spammable. That won't solve her self-healing issues, but maybe she will have talents to aid in this regard (perhaps something like Lúcio's Back in the MixBack in the Mix).

We can't judge a Hero by their base kit. I'm pretty sure she will have talents to compensate.

She also have the sleep dart if an enemy try to take on her alone.

Yeah, we'll have to see what she can do in game.

Love the talents, maybe they will make up for her mediocre basic kit. I'd probably go with something like this:

Tier 1: Piercing Darts

Tier 2: Aim Down Sights

Tier 3: Debilitating Dart

Ultimate: Nano Boost

Tier 4: Purifying Darts

Tier 5: Sharpshooter

Tier 6: Somnolent Doses

I can just see Ana getting eaten alive by so many of the roster atm. To take advantage of that range, she'll need to position herself perfectly to not only have "LoS" on the right allies, but also so that she isn't too vulnerable to any enemy assassin. She might be interesting vs. Butcher at least. Maybe the sleep will function as it does in OW on a charging Reinhardt.

      Blackheart seeks revenge against the Commodore in this week's attack/defend battleground! Everyone starts at level 10, no other talents besides that are available. There's a small chance of all players being the same Hero. Play two games to earn a Loot Chest.

      Assist a salty revenge-fueled pirate in his other-worldly quest to destroy the docks, or send him to a watery grave with the aid of some spectral cannonballs. This week’s Heroes Brawl is Blackheart’s Revenge, and no matter which side you take, it’s sure to be an explosive match!

      Rules:
      Choose from one of three randomly selected Heroes before entering the Docks. Be quick about it though, you only have 30 seconds to choose! Everyone will begin the round at level 10 and will be asked to choose a Heroic Ability. No other talents will be available. You will either be placed on the Attacking or Defending team and will be responsible for aiding Blackheart in his quest for revenge, or preventing the destruction of the Docks Attackers will be responsible for preventing Defenders from firing Cannons at Blackheart’s ship Defenders will gather Cannonballs and fire them at Blackheart’s ship via Cannons placed around the Battleground After the first round, teams will switch sides and the displayed health on Blackheart’s Ship will be adjusted to show the amount of Cannonballs the defending team must fire to beat their opponent’s score and win the round. The team to fire the most shots at the enemy ship will be victorious, unless both teams fire zero or the maximum of 5 Cannonballs, which will result in ties. Rewards:
      Complete two matches of the Blackheart's Revenge to earn a Loot Chest!       Alan Dabiri announced that he's leaving his current position as Game Director for Heroes of the Storm and he's moving on to another project at Blizzard.
      Alan Dabiri has been Game Director ever since Dustin Browder stepped down in December 2016. He thinks the game is in the right hands right now, as developers continue to deliver interesting new Heroes and events. He's transitioning to a new team within the company. We wish him success in all his future endeavors.

      In my 20-plus years at Blizzard, I’ve had the privilege of working on many awesome Blizzard games in roles ranging from software engineer to technical director to game director. Across my many roles and games, my experience working on Heroes of the Storm ranks among the best of my development career. I’ve witnessed Heroes’ evolution from a StarCraft II mod to the amazing game you see today. Heroes’ development has been fueled by the shared excitement of our team and all of you in the community, and the game we’ve built together is the game I play almost every night.
      One of the best things about developing Heroes is the fact that this team is not afraid to try new things while always striving to learn and grow. It’s been part of our DNA from the very beginning, and it’s through years of experimentation that we’ve hit our stride both as a development team, and as a game. This is possible because Heroes has an exceptional development team of both Blizzard veterans and fresh faces who are all highly engaged with the game we’re making, and the players we’re making it for.
      It’s in this spirit of trying new things that I want to let everyone know that a few months ago, I accepted an opportunity to transition off my role as Heroes’ game director to heed Blizzard’s call and begin a new adventure elsewhere within the company. The game director has always been one part of the overall leadership team that drives Heroes forward and it’s been a privilege to work among some of the best game developers at every level on the team all the way up to our production director, Kaéo Milker. Leaving a team and game that I love is incredibly difficult, but seeing the steady strength, creativity, and commitment that Kaéo and the design, engineering, and art leadership teams consistently bring to Heroes has given me more than enough confidence to make this decision. I trust that the game is in the very best hands and their work these past few months has only reinforced my belief.
      They’ve released awesome new heroes like Yrel, Whitemane, Mephisto, and now Mal’Ganis, while building on the themed content drops that let the team do fun things that only Heroes can do. They brought the smackdown (plus my favorite mount, the Luchihuahua!) with Nexomania, finally brought an epic slice of Azeroth into the Nexus with the Alterac Pass Battleground, and joined the Raven Lord’s forces with the Fall of King’s Crest. On top of that, the team has also released awesome reworks like Raynor and Brightwing while adding exciting updates like third ban and Team League improvements. With so many awesome content and feature updates, you can see why I believe that the team has brought us the best year of Heroes of the Storm so far.
      And they’re not done yet. Heroes has one of the most passionate and dedicated development teams I’ve had the pleasure of working with, and they have a ton of exciting new content in development. I can’t wait for you all to see what they have in store for the rest of this year and beyond. You can bet that I’ll be right there enjoying it with you as it’s released, too. I’m sure you’ll agree when I say that Heroes is in a great place and I promise that it’s in the hands of the best possible people to continue driving it forward. Kaéo and the Heroes team are people who play almost every night who also happen to get to work on making the game what it is today. With our continued input and support, they’ll keep doing what they do best by making Heroes of the Storm the most awesome game it can possibly be.
