[Frost] Low DPS - What am I missing?

5 posts in this topic

Evening fellow spell chuckers!

Logs (Entire HC Farm Raid)

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/RPZK8MngjtWTAzry#boss=-2&difficulty=0&type=damage-done&source=2

- Armoury Link

https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/argent-dawn/arcere

- Rotation

Icy Veins recommended (Glacial Spike). Talents as seen in Armoury.

- Issue

Disparity between fights, parsing blue on some and green on others and general underperformance DPS-wise.

Not very talented with Logs Analysis I will be honest, but I have oftentimes fewer casts which could be attributed to moving too much/panicking during mechanics and sometimes the spells appear to not hit as hard by average.

Some suspect some fights hold my lower than normal FPS as a partial contributor to my low DPS, but I am certain it's purely a rotational/skill combination error on my part, or not utilizing my tools as I should.

I run Shard of Exodar and Sephuz as it is the best combination according to SimCraft and I have optimized the gear with what I have using the same tool.

Shattercapped (by far, a little too far) and Haste approx 35%.

Please send help, as I am breaking my brain with what I am doing wrong!

Thank you in advance!

Ran your Goroth log through WoWAnalyzer. It's not a perfect tool, but please check out the recommendations. They give you a few areas to work on:

  • You cast Ice Lance 6 times (17.14%) without Shatter. Make sure that you are only casting Ice Lance when the target has Winter's Chill (or other Shatter effects), if you have a Fingers of Frost proc, or if you are moving and you cant cast anything else.

    17.14% missed (<10.00% is recommended)

  • You cast Flurry without Brain Freeze 1 times. You should never hard cast Flurry.

1 casts (Casting none is recommended)

  • You failed to Ice Lance into 4 Winter's Chill (1.5 missed per minute). Make sure you cast Ice Lance after each Flurry to benefit from Shatter.

4 Winter's Chill not shattered with Ice Lance (0 is recommended)

  • You failed to Frostbolt, Glacial Spike, or Ebonbolt into 3 Winter's Chill (1.1 missed per minute). Make sure you hard cast just before each instant Flurry to benefit from Shatter.

3 Winter's Chill not shattered with Frostbolt, Glacial Spike, or Ebonbolt (0 is recommended)

  • Try to cast Ebonbolt more often.

3 out of 4 possible casts; 83.46% cast efficiency (>90.00% is recommended)

Just a couple of things: Gear overall seems fine. Stats look good. However, any reason why you chose those two legos? Shard is perfect, but I would highly recommend Mag's bracers. It's a huge dps increase over your other ring. Only other issue I see is are trinkets. Bonus roll on Mistress / Sisters as often as possible. They drop your 2 bis trinkets. You should at least have had one drop by now.

Have you considered TV instead of glacial spike? I've ran GS several times and TV just feels better for me. You might enjoy it more and notice a pretty big dps increase. That said, legos and trinkets are your only issues from gear.

Edit: No idea why simcraft is telling you to run the two rings. They are definitely not BIS option together. Shard is, and your other should either be the bracers or helm. Just ran you through AMR and its showing just about any other lego is siming better than sephuz for you.

Could be that he has miscalculated - Sephuz is incredibly powerful, even BiS, if you can proc it (Host, Sassz'ine).

Guild: Dawn of the Dead | http://www.dotd.org   Faction: Horde | Server: Zul'jin (PvE) | Timezone: EST   Current Progression: 4/8M Uldir   We've been raiding max size raids continuously since WoW has been released and are the only guild to have done so here on Zul'jin. We have strong leadership, no drama, and plans to keep raiding for years to come. Unlike many guilds, we're not recruiting for the short term, and we don't over-recruit.   Website: www.dotd.org
Raid Times: Our schedule is 8-11 EST Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.   Needs: We are a small guild, and we expect high attendance. As such, we recruit people to raid, and desire people who can step in and contribute immediately. We don’t recruit people to sit around, so all spots are for raiders who can expect to be in most every raid.   We are currently looking to add skilled and reliable:   Ranged DPS:
      High: Warlock
      Medium: Mage, S.Priest, Boomkin
      1 Healer:
      High: MW Monk
*ALL exceptional applicants will be considered regardless of the class.   What we ask of you:   Effort: Not all applicants come from highly progressed guilds, and that’s okay, but it does mean that you need to be prepared. We recruit the player, not the gear, but we do ask that you have some current experience and be a minimum iLvl of 370. You need to have the best gear available to you, (BoE, Crafted) with gems and top end enchants. You also need to be able to display an understanding of your class mechanics, role in a raid, and ability to learn new fights.   Attitude: It’s a game. We play for fun. How you fit in with the guild is taken very seriously. We’re a bunch of mostly 18-30 guys and girls who have fun playing together. While we have a good time, we also know when it’s time to buckle down and work hard.   Skill: The best way to determine skill is to see you in a raid. Because we don’t wish to have anyone transfer that we’re not serious about, be able to express your knowledge of your class and why you’re an exceptional player who would be an asset and is worth a shot. Gear will come with time. Skill will not. Impress us with your knowledge of your class and gameplay mechanics. Feel free to share any logs, theorycrafting, or other work you've done.   Commitment: We make a commitment to you, and ask you to do the same to us. A raid takes a team of more than 20 individuals working together. We rely on you to show up to raids, research your class and new fights, respect your fellow players, and notify us when you are unavailable. You rely on us for gear, experience, and coordination. It's a large investment of our time to train and gear new players, and we ask the same investment on your part so that we can each benefit.   We have a variety of informational resources available to prospective applicants on our web site: http://www.dotd.org-- please refer to our "Applications" forum for detailed information. Also feel free to visit us on WoWProgresss for more information and kill videos! http://www.wowprogress.com/guild/us/...wn+of+the+Dead   Should you wish to speak to someone in-game, please don't hesitate to reach out to an officer directly, whisper Xanah (Xana#1662) or Jeare (Jeare#1759).   We look forward to hearing from you soon!

      Tank Healer DPS ABOUT US
Currently looking for skilled and laid back raiders for Heroic and eventually Mythic Uldir.
We're semi-casual in terms of the time we spend raiding, but are serious about progression, attendance, and performance.
Booty Pirates is a close-knit late night guild that hangs out in Discord frequently. We enjoy joking around, playing alts, doing Mythic+, playing other games, or just hanging out.
Players wanting just Mythic+ and a casual experience (no raiding) are welcomed!
Fun guild events are scheduled every Saturday!
TLDR; we're very social with guild members that actually talk to each other.
(18+ required, we talk like pirates!)
      GOALS FOR BfA
In Battle for Azeroth we plan to push Mythic more than we did previously in Legion, and not spend nearly as much time on Heroic.
This means we will jump into Mythic/Heroic weekends as soon as the majority of the Heroic gear is done. (Mythic Friday and Heroic Sunday, for example, until we phase Heroic out completely.)
      JOINING THE BOOTY PIRATES CREW
      - Mythic+ or Casual: Add me on Battle.net or whisper me in-game for an invite.

Looking for a casually serious progression guild? Hordeland Security could be your new home! We started at launch, and have raided on Blackhand, Baelgun, and now Turalyon.

We currently raid on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00- 9:15 Central Time. We understand that no one has an unlimited amount of time to play. We raid with a goal oriented focus, to achieve AotC in current content and then progress into Mythic. We also have a few that pvp, a few more that push M+'s, and we've been known do a few mog/achievement runs.
      Interested? Drop us a line!

      Hi everyone,

We are a guild that transferred from Alexstrasza to join the progression raiding scene as that server is very low population now. We are currently 8/8N and 4/8H uldir, and looking to move into heroics soon and mythic just after.

We do more than just raid, we love to do keys, transmog runs, and even some PvP. We have a large range of players from several walks of life and have a unique and fun atmosphere, we are friendly and love helping people.

We are looking for a few more members for our Sunday/Monday 5-8pm PST, and our tue/third 5-8pm PST. If anyone is interested in raid leading that will work too.

We are primarily east coast based but have a plethora of players that are on at all times of day.

Main needs for our raid team:
      ranged dps
      Healers
      Exceptional players

Of course all players as welcome as we do other guild activities such as world PVP, keys, xmog and other social activities.

So come join this very active guild and we hope to hear from you.

If you would like more information please add my btag at Kaatra#5865.

I look forward to hearing from all of you.
