Alexstrasza is now live on PTR. The patch brings further AI improvements, updates to the Ranked Play map rotation and the aforementioned Li Li rework.

General

Dragons of the Nexus Event Quest 

A host of new portrait rewards are ready to swoop into your collection as our Dragons of the Nexus event takes flight! The event kicks off Tuesday, November 14, and lasts until December 12, so be sure to login and complete the quests below to start claiming your rewards.

  • Login Reward
    • Quest: Log in to Heroes of the Storm during the Dragons of the Nexus event.
      • Reward: Stained Glass Alexstrasza and Hanzo Portrait
  • 3 Part Quest Chain
    • Play Heroes of the Storm in Versus AI, Quick Match, Ranked, or Unranked to advance quest progress. Only one part will be active at any time, and each quest must be completed in order.
    • Part 1: Play 5 games
      • Reward: Dragonqueen Alexstrasza Portrait
    • Part 2: Play 5 games
      • Reward: Dragonstrike Portrait
    • Part 3: Achieve 90 takedowns in winning games
      • Reward: Stained Glass Alexstrasza and Hanzo Portrait
  • PTR Note: While elements of this event may be visible on the Public Test Realm, any progress or rewards earned during PTR testing will not transfer to the live version of the game when this patch is officially released next week.

New Hero: Alexstrasza

Alexstrasza, the queen of dragons, was empowered by the titans to be the guardian of all life on Azeroth. She has aided mortals time and again, even at great personal cost. Now, she soars across the Nexus, protecting life wherever she finds it.

Trait 

  • Dragonqueen
    • After 1.25 seconds, transform into a dragon and gain 500 Health. While Dragonqueen is active, Alexstrasza's Basic Abilities are empowered, her Basic Attacks deal 143 damage and heal allied Heroes for 43 in an arc in front of her, and the duration of incoming Slows, Roots, Blinds, and Stuns is reduced by 50%. Lasts 15 seconds.

Basic Abilities

  • Gift of Life (Q)
    • Sacrifice 15% of Alexstrasza's current Health, healing an ally for 150% of that amount.
    • Dragonqueen: Breath of Life cooldown greatly reduced and does not cost Health.
  • Abundance (W)
    • Plant a seed of healing that blooms after 3 seconds, healing nearby allied Heroes for 20% of their maximum Health.
    • Dragonqueen: Preservation heal area and amount greatly increased.
  • Flame Buffet (E)
    • Launch a fireball, Burning enemies hit for 75 damage over 5.5 seconds.Hitting enemies that are already Burning deals 125 bonus damage upon impact, Slows them by 40% decaying over 2 seconds, and refunds the Mana cost.
    • Dragonqueen: Wing Buffet damage and Knockback enemies in an arc.

Heroic Abilities

  • Life-Binder (R)
    • Bind Alexstrasa's life force with an allied Hero. After 2 seconds, the Hero with a lower percentage of Health is set to the same Health percentage as the other Hero..
  • Cleansing Flame (R)
    • After 1.25 seconds, take to the sky and drop fireballs at the position of your mouse cursor every 1.2 seconds for 6 seconds. Each fireball restores 300 Health to nearby allied Heroes, and deals 150 damage to nearby enemies.2 seconds after dropping all fireballs, Alexstrasza lands at the position of your mouse cursor.

AI

General

  • Made improvements to Battleground strategies used by Elite AI Heroes.
  • Several additional Heroes have received tactical AI improvements, including:
    • Greymane
    • Johanna
    • Ragnaros
    • Rehgar
    • Rexxar
    • Valeera
    • Zarya

Art

Heroes, Abilities, and Talents

  • Li Li has received updated visual effects to coincide with Talent changes.
  • Sgt. Hammer's Basic Attacks during Siege Mode now better convey area of effect damage.

Battlegrounds

  • Haunted Mines
    • Issuing a move order between levels will now have the player automatically use the entrance or exit that is the closest distance to their issued order
    • Summoned Golem
      • Attack speed is no longer reduced by Fort and Keep attacks
      • Will no longer interrupts its attack mid-swing to cast Slam or Roots
      • No longer stops to crush player created walls, but will now pass through them effortlessly
  • Bloodlust Brawl
    • All Minions, Mercs, and the Dragon Knight now have permanent Bloodlust.

Developer Comment: When looking at this Brawl, we really love the Bloodlust buff. By powering up the Players and the Dragon Knight so much, the poor Minions really struggled to provide much value during the Brawl. In order to bring them up to speed with their Mercenary buddies, we’ve decided that all Minions could use permanent Bloodlust as well.

In-Game UI

  • Capture Points
    • Volskaya Foundry objective UI will now display “Contested” text when members of both teams are actively fighting over a capture point.
  • Core
    • Notifications that indicate when the allied Core is under attack have been made more apparent.
  • Talent Tier Advantage Callouts
    • In-game chat messages will now automatically appear for all players when a team reaches levels 10 and 20 in order to more clearly indicate when one team has a Heroic Ability or Storm Talent tier advantage over the other.
    • A follow-up message will appear when the second team reaches levels 10 and 20 to indicate that Heroic Abilities or Storm Talents are now available to both teams.

Bug Fixes

General

  • Fixed a number of typo and tooltip errors across several aspects of the game.

AI

  • Ana: AI Ana will no longer attempt to Heal allied Garden Terrors, Dragon Knights, or Triglav Protectors.
  • Haunted Mines: Fixed an issue in which AI Heroes would “B-Step” after the neutral Grave Golem was killed, rather than completing their Hearthstone casts.
  • Melee Lane Units: Melee Minions, Mercenaries, and Braxis Holdout’s melee Zerg units will no longer ignore an enemy Ragnaros in Molten Core form.

Art

  • Malthael: Movement Speed bonus visual effects will now correctly appear if Malthael learns On a Pale Horse while mounted.
  • Mounts: Visual effects that appear around the Golden Nexus Charger will now correctly animate while using Low graphic settings.

  • Alarak: Learning Counter-Strike or Deadly Charge at level 20 will now correctly append that Ability’s description to the Sadism Trait tooltip.
  • Azmodan: All Shall Burn’s tooltip has been updated to clarify that its bonus Structure damage is a flat amount, rather than percentage-based.
  • Ana: A targeting indicator will now correctly appear when using Healing Dart charges granted by Active Reload.
  • Chromie: Fixed an issue in which certain Abilities, like Artanis’ Blade Dash, could prevent Temporal Loop from returning the target to its original location.
  • Brightwing: Arcane Flare’s targeting indicator will no longer visually persist on the terrain if cast outside the Gate during the pre-game countdown.
  • Garrosh: Stukov’s Weighted Pustule will no longer be removed from targets hit by Wrecking Ball or Into the Fray.
  • Gazlowe: Fixed an issue preventing Deth Lazor from being cast with less than 60 Mana after learning Hyperfocus Coils
  • Johanna: Blessed Hammer can no longer be activated during Falling Sword.
  • Junkrat: Fixed an issue in which certain Abilities, like Genji’s Dragonblade and Stitches’ Hook, could hit Junkrat during Rocket Ride just before he makes impact.
  • Kel’Thuzad: Glacial Spike will now correctly deal bonus damage granted by Ability Power gains.
  • Kel’Thuzad: The Hungering Cold Talent will now correctly deal its bonus damage to non-Heroic enemies rooted by Frost Nova.
  • Lt. Morales: Fixed an issue in which Lt. Morales could become immune to certain Stasis effects like Void Prison and Devouring Maw until death.
  • Lt. Morales: Casting Reinforcements in the allied Hall of Storms will no longer permanently remove Heroes inside the Medivac within from the Battleground’s playable area.
  • Lúcio: Learning Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop and then walking over Junkrat’s Steel Trap will no longer cause that trap to visually persist on Lúcio’s model.
  • Stukov: Nazeebo will now correctly be pushed if he is hit by Massive Shove while channeling Ravenous Spirit.

User Interface

  • Death Recap: The Ability icon and description for Gazlowe’s Rock-It! Turret will now correctly appear on the Death Recap screen.
  • Hotkeys: The Move command’s Quick Cast hotkey is no longer customizable.

They got John de Lancie back to record new lines but didn't get him for Blizzcon or have a video of him at the HotS recording studio?! D: 

Lili gets to keep Cleanse, yay!

I thought they r going to buff Lili not destroying her with nerfing her abilities!

only thing they added to her is fast feet trait and talents which is useless since Lili usually stands out of combat and throws tea cups and serpent or blinding wind and I think nobody likes to risk and go inside battle area and let enemy damages him/her to have faster coldown recharging while Lili is a low health hero and even a simple stun can be dangerous for her

Except for the removal of Kung Fu HustleKung Fu Hustle (which is now a nerfed baseline to her Fast FeetFast Feet), Elusive FeetElusive Feet, and changes on Shake It OffShake It Off, everything else is pretty much buff (although I'll miss Pro TossPro Toss as well). Mending SerpentMending Serpent being baseline now makes Cloud SerpentCloud Serpent actually useful; and Blessing of Yu'lon will finally make Li Li effective at healing Warriors.

Getting rid of generic talents such as Conjurer's PursuitConjurer's PursuitHealing WardHealing WardShrink RayShrink Ray and Storm ShieldStorm Shield is something Blizzard has been wanting to do for a long time, to make each Hero have more unique talent options, which is great.

Why are they doing event quests which have no real rewards? after the launch of heroes 2.0 they usually awarded some loot chest in events, what the hell shall I do with all these useless banners, portraits etc we get showered with?

Well only thing i see is you're saying that blizzard is nerfing Lili with removing many talents and I just see they are adding more stuffs about her E and trait which isn't important as her main ability(Q) and her healing ..well only good thing they have added is blessing of Yu'lon which isn't big change as you see it's mostly for warriors and oh its lv16  talent not lv1or4or7 and can't be used on whole game and you can just use it on last 5-10m and well idk how these want to help her:

And most of new talents which all are about fast feet stuffs and blinding wind duration or damage

None of these generic talents were picked at all in the competitive setting, with the exception of Storm ShieldStorm Shield and sometimes Shrink RayShrink Ray. I'm glad they got rid of them to make more suited talents to fit the Hero's fantasy aspect (I'm still waiting for them to make equivalent versions of Ice BlockIce Block for Malfurion, Brightwing and Nazeebo that is tailored visually to fit the characters).

Li Li now has very interesting Healing BrewHealing Brew talents now, like "Free Drinks" at level 1, which has nice synergy with "Pick Me Up" at level 16. I mean, Blizzard had to at least increase a bit the mana cost of her abilities since Li Li had little to no mana issues.

Regarding the other talents, it's great to give Li Li more flexibility (that she already had) as a Support; she can be a great suplementary healer that focus on damage if the team already has a strong main healer. Li Li is one of the few Supports that can effectively trade against other Heroes. So giving her more talents to increase her damage is not bad.

YES! That is pretty much what I had in mind. Then he could have his own effect, like poisoning nearby enemies when activating it, or something.

Malfurion's could be something like Barkskin, where he's encased by tree branches or something that reduce his damage taken after "Ice Block" is over.

Finally, Brightwing's could be something like coating her in a Arcane energy and healing her for a small amount.

It wouldn't be too difficult to implement - maybe we'll actually see this as they de-generalise talents. I'd still be the most excited by far for Nazeebo. Maybe he could still be attackable in it, but takes no damage. If you attack him in his Ice Block, he applies a stack of voodoo touch.

It shouldn't, and it would be great since they're trying to get rid of those generic talents.

They could also work around Malfurion's Scouting DroneScouting Drone, because why in the fuck would a Druid, one with the nature, be able to summon a tiny robot? Maybe he could instead summon a Wisp (akin to Lunara's), or even something more visual like a Rexxar's FlareFlare and Rehgar's FarsightFarsight. Or just remove the ability altogether since Druids don't have that in WoW.

I agree, total waste of time.  At least these quest ones are not intrusive in the game.  I got so sick of that opening boxes thing a month ago, that went on WAY too long.

      The community grew frustrated by the frequency of Sun's Out Guns Out items in their Nexomania Loot Chests, so Blizzard decreased their drop chance and greatly increased the likelihood that Nexomania items will drop over Sun's Out Guns Out items. If you purchased Nexomania Loot Chests with Gems prior to 07:01 p.m. PDT on May 23, you will receive a number of new Nexomania Loot Chests equal to the amount you originally purchased.

      In the few short days since Nexomania began, competitors throughout the Nexus have eagerly leapt into the ring to choose tag-team partners and claim quest rewards. Amidst the excitement, however, we understand some of you have been disappointed by the frequency of Sun’s Out, Guns Out items in your Nexomania Loot Chests.
      Nexomania and Event Loot Chests
      As many of you know, themed event Loot Chests are guaranteed to contain at least one event-related item. Since items from last year’s Sun’s Out, Guns Out event are no longer available, we felt Nexomania could be a great opportunity to give players a second chance to pin down items from both events.
      With that in mind, we gave Nexomania and Sun’s Out items an equal chance to drop in Nexomania Loot Chests. After reading community discussions, however, it seems we overestimated how often players would like to open Sun’s Out items. We’d like to put Nexomania back into the spotlight:
      As of now, we’ve greatly increased the likelihood that Nexomania items will drop over Sun’s Out, Guns Out items in Nexomania Loot Chests. If you used gems to buy Nexomania Loot Chests prior to 07:01 p.m. PDT on May 23 (4:01 a.m. CEST / 11:01 a.m. KST May 24), you will receive a number of new Nexomania Loot Chests equal to the amount you originally purchased. These replacement Chests will feature the updated event item drop rate mentioned above and will be awarded within the next few days. Please note: Nexomania Loot Chests earned through progression or Heroes Brawls will not be replaced. We’re also going to make this drop-rate adjustment for future events. Going forward, new event Loot Chests will have this same increased chance to contain new items from the current version of an event over existing items from past versions of that event.
      Event Bundles and Skins
      Events like Nexomania are jam-packed with lots of new Hero skins and other cosmetic items. While we have a blast creating and releasing skins, we’ve also read feedback from players who would like more options when it comes to adding them to their collections. With future events, we’re going to give players more opportunities to pick up specific skins outside of the event bundles they appear in:
      Going forward, new Hero skins that are included in larger event bundles will also be available in separate Skin Packs. Each pack will be purchasable using gems and will contain all currently available versions of that skin. This change doesn’t mean big event bundles are down for the count. We still plan to add them to the game but wanted to give players more variety when it comes to picking up new event items.

Each of the four-part quest chains below grant different rewards based on who you side with, and the quests must be completed in order. Step into the ring and start leveling-up to pin down some loot before the competition concludes on June 11!
      Please Note: Loot Chests earned prior to the start of this event will not become Nexomania Loot Chests.

      Heroes, Abilities, and Talents Diablo: Diablo and Archangel Diablo’s Abilities have received updated visual effects to coincide with Ability and Talent changes. Garrosh: Garrosh’s Abilities have received updated visual effects. Malfurion: A new leaf icon and timer will now appear above Regrowth targets’ nameplates to indicate remaining Heal duration. The icon and timer will change color based on Regrowth’s remaining Heal duration: from green to yellow at 10 seconds remaining, and then to red during the last 5 seconds. User Inteface
      MVP Screen Players can no longer vote for themselves on the end of match awards screen. This should help encourage players to spread the love by commending others for their epic plays! The number of votes required to achieve epic and legendary commendations on the end of match awards screen have each been reduced by one vote. This has been done to account for the removal of self-voting. Previously, a self-vote could often make the difference for a player who was one vote shy of reaching epic or legendary status. Loot Chests The Loot Chest carousel on the Loot screen now automatically switches to a Loot Chest type the player already owns, rather than always defaulting to Rare Loot Chests. Design
      General Holding right-click and dragging the cursor to move is no longer interrupted when entering targeting mode prior to casting an Ability. Movement Speed Visual Effects Visual effects for Movement Speed bonuses and Slows will now only display on units whose Movement Speeds are being increased or decreased by more than 5%. Previously, a Hero could display these visual effects even if their Movement Speed hadn’t been significantly altered. Number of fire waves reduced from 8 to 5. Multiple fire waves can now hit the same target. Cooldown increased from 6 to 8 seconds. Mana cost reduced from 40 to 30. Outgoing fire wave damage reduced from 54 to 12. Returning fire wave damage reduced from 81 to 36. Damage dealt by returning fire waves now counts as critical damage. Now Heals Diablo for 125% of the damage dealt to Heroes. Overpower (E) Mana cost reduced from 60 to 40. Lightning Breath (R) Range increased from 10.5 to 12.       Loadouts: The Hero’s name at the top of the Loadout pane will now update correctly when switching among Heroes during Hero Select. Collection: Fenix now correctly appears when using the terms “Protoss” and “Dragoon” to filter the Hero roster.
