Balance Update Patch Notes: Nov 29

A new Heroes of the Storm balance patch is planned for November 29 with plenty of nerfs for Support Heroes and a Sgt. Hammer rework.

The following balance patch will go live November 29 and it's available for playtesting right now on PTR along with Hanzo. The latest PTR patch notes can be found here.

We’re planning to release a new patch for Heroes of the Storm in order to apply balance changes alongside a few bug fixes.

PTR Note: While most of the listed changes are available on the PTR with today’s patch, some will not be present until the November 29 live balance patch.

    This lack of developer comments is nothing but pure disappointment on Blizzard’s part. I got quite upset at Blizzard when they decided to be greedy snakes and lie about the gem skins, telling us “this is what the community asked” when we all know that is false and they refused to straight up admit that they are in need of more money. And then they decide to give absolutely no insight on massive and important changes they do? These developers could learn something from the WoW team. At least they were able to get up and start communicating with players to make the game better. This just isn’t fair to the people who play this game. And I’m losing my faith in them.

    Dude, it's PTR patch notes not official ones. They do the explanation for official ones once they've decided for sure what they're going to do. This stuff could change.

    No these are not PTR notes. These are live balance update notes. That will take effect in 2 days in the live game, not the PTR.

    Why exactly are they nerfing Tyrande when shes an assasin? 

    Li Li is the only one whos getting buffed, healing wise. 

    Even Alexs Q got nerfed because of her HP nerf lol.

    The Hammer Rework looks horrible basically completly ignoring skill and positioning its all about the siege mode now which is just stupid.

    "unneeded rework"? really mate? hammer is one of easiest hero to counter. valeera can shred her, kael&jaina&chromie can rain down on her. its kinda sitting dock and impossible to miss.

    Indeed and now shes a even more of a sitting duck then she was before because she needs to be in siege mode to deal the highest dmg. All her non-siege buffs are gone.

    In all seriousness, the changes to Sgt Hammer left her without as much survivability, as i feel Neosteel plating duration is too low for its high cooldown and dependency towards Siege Mode too much, as well as less range at 20 without nexus frenzy, which she relies on.

    Well this was unexpected. We're finally apparently moving to a double support meta, or not Many people see this as a simple nerf, but I see it as something more and much needed. The supports have always been the most ridiculous aspect of this game, and seeing their power diminished is an interesting thought. 

    Zul'Jin was definitely in a way too powerful state, I'm glad he got nerfed.

    Yes! An old character gets a much needed rework how did it turn out? Meh. I'm on the same side as everyone else. She was nerfed. But I see potential here. Maybe she will finally seem significant.

    Tychus has been receiving some pretty sneaky buffs lately. Could this be a resurrection?

    People are acting overly negatively in my opinion. Is it a bad update? Not by any means. Does it change the meta a bunch? Definitely. Is the double healer here? Possibly. Blizzars is really giving the fanbase a hard time.

    People were asking to be able to buy skins with gems, but not quite like it was implemented with the Alexstrasza patch. Personally I wanted to be able to go either/or with gems and shards, instead of "only gems" or "only shards" save for what is Featured that week. So while it was asked for, I'm not sure we technically got what we wanted. Having no chance of getting those Alex skins from a box, ever, feels almost as bad as having to rely on those boxes for getting a specific skin...or enough shards for one.

    Careful what I wish for, I guess.

    Man, they really want Hammer to be in siege mode a lot more, but with Hover Siege mode speed nerfed as well, I've got a bad gut feeling. Sieging up is so risky if there are actual enemy players around.

        All Quests that can lose stacks will never cause the player to fall below milestone thresholds. Pinnacle Rewards are now named Mythic Rewards to give a more Blizzard feel. So Mythic-y! The following Summoned Units now lose health each second: Demon Lieutenants, Demon Warriors, Gargantuan, Hydralisks, Roaches, Rock-It Turrets, Rush Zombies, Scarabs, Treants, Tumors, and Water Elementals. Total Health and Duration of these Summoned Units have been adjusted to compensate for this. Structures now prioritize Summoned Units when there are no remaining minions. Summoned Units no longer take half damage from Structures. XP Globe pickup sound is now also played when killing a minion that instantly yields XP. Updated Homescreen and Startup Music. Return to Top

        Players will now receive an announcement when a quest milestone is reached. This will only announce to the player who achieved the milestone. Ranges of abilities on numerous Heroes have been updated to be more consistent. This may cause certain abilities ranges to reduce or increase.         General A new Fallback Tower has been added to the longer lanes on each of the following battleground maps. This new tower will die when its corresponding Fort dies: Alterac Pass, Battlefield of Eternity, Blackheart's Bay, Braxis Holdout, Cursed Hollow, Dragon Shire, Garden of Terror, Hanamura Temple, Infernal Shrines, Sky Temple, Tomb of the Spider Queen, Volskaya Foundry, and Warhead Junction. Attacks from the Core, Keeps, Forts, Fallback Towers, and Towers near Keeps will now reduce Hero armor, and the reduction has been increased from -10/-20 Armor to -20/-40 Armor. Fallback Towers have the same HP and Attack Damage as Keep Towers. Forts, Keeps, and the Core will no longer grant Allied Heroes that take damage in their radius 35 Armor for 4 seconds. The comeback system has been slightly magnified, particularly at wide level gaps. Alterac Pass Objective capture timer reduced by 5 seconds in each phase. The first phase only spawns a single defending unit. Cavalry now gain more health in the later stages of the game. Cavalry now take 60% damage from structures (up from 50%). Braxis Holdout Early objectives have lowered in health by 15%, but scaling has been increased significantly after 15 minutes. Garden of Terror Garden Terror health scaling increased. Garden Terror structure disabling plant bulb now damages itself at 10% per second (up from 6%). Infernal Shrines Early objectives have lowered in health by 15%, but scaling has been increased significantly after 15 minutes. Warhead Junction Nuke damage has been changed to flat, scaling damage.         Level 1 Crash Lightning REWORK: Bonuses are now provided at 15 and 30 stacks. At each milestone, Chain Lightning gains 270 damage. Lose 6 stacks on death, but can not lose milestones that have already been completed. Echo of the Elements REWORK: Bonuses are now provided at 20/40/100 stacks. At 20 stacks, reduce mana cost of Chain Lightning by 20. At 40 stacks, Chain Lightning gains an extra charge and will bounce one additional time. Pinnacle Reward: At 100 stacks, Chain Lightning will fork to an additional target each time it bounces. Rolling Thunder Moved to be a Level 7 Talent. No longer increases Chain Lightning bounces by 1. Level 7 Maelstrom Weapon Moved to be a Level 1 Talent. REWORK: Bonuses are now provided at 20/40/100 stacks, rather than incremental gains. When clicking near or on a target, it will attach to that target, but if no targets are nearby, Overkill will start firing in that direction. If Overkill hits a target while firing in a direction, that target will become Overkill's primary target. If Overkill is active when there are no possible targets, Overkill will no longer be cancelled, and instead will start firing in the direction of the last primary target.
