Diablo 4, Overwatch 2 & Mobile Title Coming By 2020?

Recommended Posts

A finance colossus is expecting that Activision Blizzard will get a boost in the next 2-3 years, due to the release of new titles in the Diablo and Overwatch franchise, as well as a mobile game.

According to a CNBC article, Goldman Sachs raised its rating for Activision Blizzard shares, predicting strong sales results for its future titles. What, you would ask, are these future titles? The analysts of the finance company predict a new Diablo game by 2019, Overwatch 2 by 2020 and a new mobile title.

We've actually seen Blizzard job postings for all of the aforementioned titles this year. Obviously, the Diablo game brings back two words that we haven't heard since 2016: Diablo 4. The Overwatch 2 statement is a bit more perplexing: Overwatch is fine as it is, with the developers having promised a lot of free content to keep coming. However, they've never ruled out PvE plans in the Overwatch universe and perhaps that's what "Overwatch 2" will be about. Lastly, we already know that the upcoming mobile game is going to be in the Warcraft universe and it's probably going to be a MMO-RTS.

What do you guys think about these predictions?

"Overwatch 2" is clearly a money grab... Unless they give us some sort of campaign or something else new and substantial.

I was stunned Diablo 4 (or whatever is next) wasn't announced already. That game is about as stale as possible.

The mobile game will be interesting. No idea what it even could be.

For a second I pooped my pants and misread that Diablo 4 would be a mobile game. PHEW. Don't scare me like that.

Perhaps "Overwatch 2" will be a big expansion DLC akin to Reaper of Souls? And that "2" is just to entitle the project? Just taking a wild, very wild guess.

Also, @Zadina what happened to your Orc/Jesus portrait?

The Diablo franchise/game really needs something new, like an expansion or maybe a new Diablo game, "Diablo 4".

Diablo 4 seems a long time coming, that'll surely be a welcome breath of fresh air for the series.  I imagine (like many others it seems) that the Overwatch 2 will be a large PvE/campaign addition.  And lastly, a mobile Warcraft-style game seems like it'd fit well into the mobile market, and to me it seems odd that Blizzard's waited so long to put a mobile game out.

Overwatch 2 is a certainty, I highly doubt Diablo 4 is happening.

As far as mobile... I'd guess something like Marvel Puzzle Quest.  Or a HOTS mini-game type of thing.

For mobile it could easily be a RTS game. Easily doable. Heck, could even be a port of WC1 to 3.

This is speculation from Goldman Sachs. Not an actual announcement.

Exactly! I was about to write the same thing.

They are making these speculations/predictions based on the trends by the rest of the games industry. It's the line of thinking like how Bungie has done with Destiny 1&2. And how Activision does with the rest of their console titles and such. So it's only speculation.

Diablo 4 is likely at 'some point'. Blizzard doesn't rush anything when it comes to their big franchises. So we know they will take their time on a new Diablo game as they always have.

An Overwatch 2 is far less likely. We would all like to see an Overwatch story based game centered around a more co-op oriented title with no PvP. But it's not very likely. Although I could see them doing that as a far simpler mobile title rather then a full on console/PC title.

And again it's them speculating that the mobile game will be a WoW based game rather then a HOTS one since WoW is their biggest property. Hearthstone IS their WoW mobile game. Those of us that actually play Blizzard games feel it's more likely another mobile game done by Blizz would be a 'Nexus' based game a la Clash Royale. Or at least those are my thoughts/opinions on all this.

I thought the Overwatch 2 was the mobile one from the way I read it <_>

Diablo 4 would be cool, Overwatch 2 would be cool but the usual stuff about Blizz and money and people cribbing...they'll probably give a statement soon since this seemed to come out of nowhere from Goldman Smacks

Ummm, they haven't released anything about any of these products yet so you're kinda putting the 'ass' in assuming it's the same. If you're talking about same mechanics/universe as being the thing you already own....wow... you're like that dude that will never stops cribbing about how every other Pokemon generation is crap and the original 151 is the best and only gen ever

As much as I know it might happen; Diablo 4 shouldn't be a thing. They shouldn't create a whole new game where we have to kill Diablo for the 4th time. This kind of story telling of "Evil never dies" is tiring, and the thought of me having to go through a whole new story where I have to face new big baddies then the big honcho himself sounds boring and quite repetitive. In my honest words they just need to do one last expansion that just finishes up the series for good, they are running out of ideas and making Diablo 4 will be stretching it waaaay too much. Just end the series and go to the chalk board to create new ARPG's in similar styles of Diablo.
