Malkorok Blood Rage Damage Mitigation

Recommended Posts

As we all know, when Malkorok starts his blood rage phase, the damage going out to the whole raid is massive. Our raid leader is forbidding anyone from using any damage mitigation cooldowns during this phase as he claims that the damage avoided will go to the other players instead. I think this is dead wrong, and that we should be using any cooldown available to mitigate some of that damage. Which one of us is right?

You are right.

In easy terms: Just before the boss hits, the game counts the amount of people in front of him and divides the damage between them. The damage is then dealt to each person individually  and using reductions or immunities will reduce or negate the damage for you personally, but won't influence any of the other characters. (except for you healers who will be very grateful).

Obviously most, if not all raidcooldowns (priest bubble, SLT, smoke bomb, warrior banner...) should be used at this point, as they might not be very useful during the rest of the fight.

Agreed, use all the cds you want here.  Our raid only has one of these phases so we blow most everything here, no real reason not to.  We use personals when soaking the purple swirls in P1, if they are back up for p2 then bonus!  But we use all healer cds or raidwide cd's here.

Using a personal will not push damage elsewhere, at kitsu said it is very rare.  I actually can't think of any other cleave damage that would redistribute besides static shock.
