Illidan cheating ?

Recently, I fought Illidan in Haunted Mines.

Down in the boss room, he escaped by moving through the walls in the NE using some ability (probably sweep).
But I dont' think this should be possible. Is this a known cheat ?

was this after level 10?

if it was he probably used his heroic ability The Hunt on a minion outside the mines.

Unbound. If you didnt see him channel. The Hunt. If you did. 
No cheat, just a talent and an ulti.

He wasnt channeling anything, so it couldn't have been the hunt.

I get it with Unbound, with one exception.
Medivh cannot fly over the walls in the mines, so they look to me like completely blocked terrain.

I would understand if Anub can burrow under the walls, but jumping over a tunnel (with a ceiling) doesn't make much sense.
Of course, the abilities often don't make much sense in a realistic sort of way. Still, the walls in the mines seem to be something different.
