The First BfA Secret Uncovered: Baa'l Pet

Recommended Posts

TMwLsOU.png

The secret finding Discord and Warcraft-secrets.com have been hard at work gathering pebbles in search of the elusive The HivemindThe Hivemind mount, but they've found something else instead. Baa'l, the battle pet was at the end of a 13 pebble long hunt with the small items hidden throughout BfA zones, and the seekers needed help from Uuna to defeat Baa'l in battle. This is the first secret uncovered in Battle for Azeroth since it went live, with a few others dug up during the beta, so big congrats to all you secret finders out there that contributed.

Now, it seems likely that Baa'l is just the next step in the Hivemind puzzle, as he has some interesting things to say when summoned: “Souls fEast on enDless shrieKing, in darKNess they writhe and scream, yOu WiLl join thEm, toGether forEver morE!”

You can check out the full details on this hunt and how to get your own Baa'l and perhaps even join the secret finding community over at Warcraft Secrets. Until more is known, good luck to all the secret seekers out there!

so blizz thought it a "good idea" to put in a Molach, Satan, Lucifer, Devil himself pet?

I always thought this game questionable... I need to look no further.  great job, make sure you create some golden statues, and empty bodied belly bulls in which to roast children alive in

That'll complete things.  I'm out.   %14.99 a month no more.

So you were okay with all the demon invasions and Sargeras himself, but this does it? Ok...

"I'm out" he says, feigning outrage, as he undoubtedly tabs back into the game to continue playing.

They literally have game about Diablo himself (in fact 3 games) and this is what ends your subscription? Ffs. I can understand if you're religious, but you knew full well that Blizzard has done this.

I sincerely hope this is strictly troll food.  If not, how did it take you this long to come to that conclusion? I'm legitimately curious where you've been since launch.  Demon summoning has been in the series for quite some time.  Or is it okay as long as they're "space demons"?

To be fair space demons are the superior demons, everyone knows that. It's why Diablo's playerbase is shrinking while Legion was a hit!

Spiritual or not, I hope people admit to themselves that this pet is a bit strange. Diablo, legion, Wrath etc.. were all games were you took on the role of defeating evil. I understand playing a warlock could be questionable as well but defined as a hero that uses space demons is a bit different. Having a pet like this that screams damnation at you when you summon it is going a bit too far. There are a lot of people that play this game that are sensitive to this kind of material due to their spiritual beliefs.

I don't know why Blizzard feels the need to insert a pet into the game named it baal; it doesn't fit in anywhere in the game. The thing is not cute it is creepy as fuck.

Ba'al was originally a thunder god; the king of the gods.  It wasn't until later that "other" religions demonized it as foreign (as was common practice).  If anything, this cute little guy is probably a clue to the hive mind mount, or to the Old God plot in general (maybe a nod to Odin, or something else having to do with thunder).

Well nosidering that there is a Diablo pet already dont think this is any different then that,WoW has some very weird stuff already in forms of Urzul mount(tortured draenei put together as a mount),Thaddius(Naxx raid boss that is literally made out of women and childs flesh sewn together) and thats only the start of weird stuff.I dont know why would you want to stop playing because reasons like this since its only a video game after all. There are many many games where you are an evil charater and you know that from the get go and milions of people still play it.

Diablo was literally a game about Heaven and Hell. It is literally Blizzards version of Demons terrorizing the living and killing off anyone in their way. This pet really shouldn't shock anyone considering there's a franchise that is embodied with Hell and demons.

Much better troll, OP was way to obvious... Ohh and if either of you are serious.... lol :) Im not sensitive to your spiritual beliefs, neither should blizzard or anyone else be. Your spirituality is your problem, not mine :)

So, imaginary things like satan, lucifer or the devil are questionable? That's kinda funny.

What came to my mind the first time I saw the flavour text was: "anagram", and the letters are sedkknowlegee, wich mean nothing.

Until you remove the letters that repeat and you get sedknowlege. The single anagram that you get from it is "golden week". On wikipedia, the result is this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Week .

My thoughts? Diablo related content added or announced according to the above mentioned holidays.

The Fatebout Hero Talent tree available to Assassination and Outlaw Rogues has been enabled for testing on the War Within Alpha, and so we're looking at the new talents!
Talents with the NYI tag have not yet been implemented.

Edge Case (new) - Activating Deathmark causes your next Fatebound Coin flip to land on its edge, counting as both Heads and Tails. Tempted Fate (new) - You have a chance equal to your critical strike chance to absorb 10% of any damage taken, up to a maximum chance of 40%. Chosen's Revelry (new) - Leech increased by 0.5% for each time your Fatebound Coin has flipped the same face in a row. Death's Arrival [NYI] (new) - Grappling Hook may be used a second time within 3 sec, with no cooldown. Inevitability [NYI] (new) - Cold Blood now benefits the next 2 abilities but only applies to Dispatch. Fatebound Coins flipped by these abilities are guaranteed to match the same face as the last flip. Destiny Defined (new) - Sinister Strike has 5% increased chance to strike an additional time and your Fatebound Coins flipped have an additional 5% chance to match the same face as the last flip.

We've all seen the giant Hallowfall crystal and just how great it looks, but as it turns out, the light emanating from it actually changes in a sort of strange day/night cycle, and we get a really awesome transition into Void light animation!
First off we can see a snippet of the change in Blizzard's official short preview of the zone:
And then there's this extended look at the switch, showcasing just how impressive the animations are, by PreachGaming's Chunkeyninja:
And here's a slightly better look at the Void to Light transition, courtesy of Kexman:
The exact timing on the cycle isn't 100% clear, but MrGM noted how it works on the Alpha right now, with a 3 hour cycle, as the Void part remains active for 30 minutes:

Hopefully we'll also get some lore to go with the transition, as the light into void thing is pretty thematically interesting, as well as being really visually impressive.
