Horde players have now donated enough resources in the contribution phase to launch an assault on Arathi Highlands!

Unlocking Warfronts

If you're not able to click the table and queue up for the battle, chances are you haven't completed the introductory quest Touring the Front yet. Talk to Portal Master Druza Netherfang for a port to Arathi Highlands, complete the tour, and return to the Port of Zandalar (Back to Zuldazar). Turn in the second quest to unlock Warfront: The Battle for StromgardeWarfront: The Battle for Stromgarde.

Battle for Stromgarde

Starting today, NA Horde players are able to queue up for the Warfront for the next 7 days. Thok will have a quest for you Warfront: The Battle for Stromgarde that rewards Warfronts Equipment CacheWarfronts Equipment Cache (contains a piece of ilvl 370 gear) and 750 Artifact Power. Completing the Warfront yields an additional ilvl 340 piece of loot.

War is HellWar is Hell is the achievement you'll get after completing the Warfront. The Alliance still controls the area and Horde will have to wait 7 days before they unlock the world boss and quests.

Gearing Up in Warfronts

You'll receive a piece of ilvl 340 loot that can titanforge every time you complete the Warfront. We don't know if this is intended at this time.

For more details check out our updated Warfronts guide.

Well done two, pretty much a face roll zerg fest, done in 20mins each time. Could be its because the people who want it done are doing it, but seems incredibly easy. I don't think I'll be doing it again until I can get another decent ilevel reward because it's not really compelling game play.

I liked it and I really enjoyed the small nostalgic feeling that I got when I use to play the original Warcraft: 1-3 series while running this WarFront.  Ran  my main and an alt through numerous times tonight and gotten some nice pieces of gear as upgrades.  I would like to see this become advance with queue selections ranging from Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and PvP.  But will have to wait and see I suppose.

The problem with Warfronts is that it‘s essentially trading time for 340+ Loot without any skill involved.

Just play for 20 to 30 minutes and you‘ll eventually win, it is no real challenge as it should‘ve been.

I mean, I like the idea a lot as I was a big fan of the RTS, but the execution in game is questionable. At lest until they implement heroic and mythic Warfronts with stronger trash that can actually beat you and maybe some of that new Island AI.

This way you‘d be forced to play tactically, assign roles and objectives to your team and follow said commands or you lose. Also, I suggest something like a Commander Mode with one Player having an overview over the map and being able to use resources after players put them in some sort of chest.

Don't want to sound pessimistic but to imagine running this very same warfront during whole BFA extenssion is not really exciting...

Pvp could make it so fun, but now it's just a timesink for items. "random" encounters are not fun at all cuz they don't influence anything, and it's way too onesided. Oh ye, and also one side getting free additional world boss at start of the raid is just messy from blizz side. I could understand if it would be like Winterghasp, where you can actually influence the outcome, so the both sides can access the content, but it being time-gated is just wrong,

You could say the exact same thing about LFR.

I do agree on the fact it might get repeative. Still a decent way to gear up alts though.

This is the simplest version possible of the Warfront new content. Think of it as a beta testing of the base mechanics. If reception of the base gameplay is good and what players complain about is repetitiveness / lack of challenge, I'm quite sure Blizzard will be happy to provide mythic / PvP versions with better rewards later :)

Didn't we already do beta testing? Pretty sure I paid £40 plus £10 game time to, you know, play a finished game.

Island Expeditions: fun
Warfronts: not fun

It's 1 hit, 1 miss for the new gamemods - It's not the end of the world, but I just don't see where the Warfronts could improve. Even a more difficult version would still be pretty linear - you can't make picking up resources from a cart or cutting down a tree more challenging (btw - didn't the developers learn in WoD, that wood collecting is boring?). Maybe they should try mixing the 2 gamemodes - so the factions land on a randomized island, set up their camps and start a war for controlling it in a tower-defense way, while various encounters spawn on the map.

How do you get gears from warfront?

I just found a worldboss there that dropped 370 ilvl gear, and few quests which mostly awarded resources and 1one 340 ilvl gear. How else we get gear from here?

Think you're meant to spam them - have seen a post elsewhere someone's done >15 WF runs. Only get World Boss once, but each run delivers +340ilvl item (with warforging / titan forging / rng). Apparently circa 20min each run even with AKF'ers.

You mean click that portal to go back and do what, if the World boss is already down once?

After a tweet earlier today about the Coldlight Surfrunner mount not being able to drop from Island Expeditions due to the type of Murloc it drops from not being present in them yet, we're now finding out that there will be a hotfix coming that will make it able to drop from any Murloc.
For more info on the pet, click here.

They've also clarified that PvP Season 1 will not be ending with the launch of Tides of Vengeance three weeks from now, but will in fact end in January 2019 (presumably close to when the raid and the new Mythic+ Season starts).
      PvP Season 1 End (source)
      Hello.
As we’re now three weeks from beginning the Tides of Vengeance content update, we wanted to make it known that the current PvP Season will not be ending at that time.
We expect to end the current season in January 2019, and we will provide an exact date for that in a few weeks.
      Thank you!

Blizzard recently announced improvements to Azerite Armor acquisition from Mythic+. You can find more details here. Heritage Armor will be added for non-Allied Races; Blood Elves & Dwarves are first on the list. There's no reputation grind behind this. If you're at max level and Exalted with Ironforge/Blood Elves, you can start the quest and complete a scenario to get your Heritage Armor. Reputation Paragon for BfA factions is coming. Champions of Azeroth reputation will be made account-wide. Incursions are a new feature similar to Legion assaults. Darkshore Warfront (Night Elves vs Forsaken theme) The outdoor zone will be updated just like Arathi Highlands with new quests, rares, etc. War Campaign continues with the Alliance leading a direct strike at the Zandalari Fleet. We can expect two new raids in 8.1: Siege of Zuldazar is a nine-boss raid where the foe is the opposing faction. Alliance players will join Jaina and her forces to fight their way up to the pyramid to confront Rastakhan. Horde players will try to defend the pyramid, fighting Jaina in the High Seas as the final boss. Crucible of Storms is a two-boss raid located under Shrine of the Storm that hints at Queen Azshara. It's Battle for Azeroth's "Trial of Valor" raid. Allied Races: Kul Tirans and Zandalari Trolls will become available for gameplay after the Siege of Zuldazar raid. You can find more details about how to unlock them here. While the Darkshore questline is still buggy on 8.1 PTR, we managed to complete it twice and have uploaded a video to YouTube with the Horde PoV. Completing the quests in Tides of Vengeance unlocks the all-new Darkshore Warfront.
Alliance players can complete Tyrande's Ascension in Patch 8.1 and unlock new Night Warrior customization options. The following preview covers the Horde perspective and what exactly happens after their arrival at Darkshore.
Check out our Tides of Vengeance hub for the latest Patch 8.1 news!
THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR 8.1 LORE SPOILERS!
      Highlights
The questline begins with "Trouble in Darkshore" that can be accepted from Dark Ranger Velonara at the Warfront table (Port of Zandalar). Apparently, the moon has turned completely black and you are sent to investigate what has transpired in the area. Speak to Dread-Admiral Tatersail to travel to Darkshore.
Horde players arrive at Lor'danel Landing and come across Nathanos and two Val'kyr. Nathanos tells you to thoroughly investigate the source of the unnatural night.
There are three short introductory quests.
Quit Vining!: Objective of this quest is to free 6 Goblin Harvesters. Dark Ranger Round-Up: For this quest, you must kill Night Elf rangers and summon Brynja to turn 6 of them them into Forsaken. The quest rewards Dark Ranger's Spare Cowl. It's interesting to see that a vast majority of Night Elves spawn an Angry Wisp upon death, as they refuse to be raised. If a Night Elf can be raised, you'll notice a shadowy aura emanating from their corpse. Black Moon Rising: The third and final quest is about interrogating 3 lieutenants: Lieutenant Golras Lieutenant Ivyth Lieutenant Mallyra A Lost Wisp will spawn to turn in the quest and you can now accept "We're Not Out of the Woods Yet". Bring the wisp to Nathanos and turn in all quests.
      The Night Warrior
Nathanos wants you to speak with the Lost Wisp to find out why the moon turned dark. There's a not yet implemented cutscene that will likely show Tyrande's transformation.
      Where Hope Dies
Sylvanas wants the body of Delaryn Summermoon.
You must Signal Nathanos when you find her corpse. Suddently, Sira Moonwarden appears and you must defeat her before proceeding.
Bringing her down to 1% makes Nathanos and the two Val'kyr enter the scene. If you click on Delaryn's corpse, you will see how she died (Warbringers: Sylvanas begins to play).
      Player Choice
Now you can either talk to Sira Moonwarden and choose to kill her yourself, or speak with Nathanos and let him do the dirty work. It's interesting to see another element of player choice added to the game right after the alternative ending added to Saurfang's questline.
Sira is disappointed that Tyrande did not come in time to aid her. She says "Where... is she...?" when you deliver her the killing blow.
      The Dead of Night
Now comes the interesting part and you'll confront Tyrande, as Nathanos and the Val'kyr begin the ritual to raise both Sira Moonwarden and Delaryn Summermoon as Forsaken.
Tyrande uses some neat astral magic as you fight her in this stage, before she gets stunned by Nathanos. It's a nice demonstration of her newly-acquired "Night Warrior" powers.
Then, she will restrict your vision with Veil of Darkness and Malfurion will root you. Now you must Break Free and fight both of them.
Signe manages to complete the ritual and raises both elves. Delaryn and Sira claim to have nothing left and blame Tyrande/Elune for her idleness.
Brynja joined the fight but is defeated by Tyrande.
      Aftermath
Sylvanas has been dealt a heavy blow with the loss of Brynja. The final quest from Sira rewards a toy that will turn your Spirit Healer into Brynja for 1 day (Brynja's Beacon) after you talk to Nathanos. There's another not yet implemented cutscene playing.
      Warfront Preparations
Take the portal back to Zuldazar and talk to Throk to unlock Warfront: The Battle for Darkshore.
      Gameplay Video
Here's a short gameplay video of the Horde questline in Darkshore with the most interesting elements of the story.
Check out our preview of the Darkshore introduction questline from the Horde perspective!

Tyrande's Ascension is a new scenario available in Patch 8.1, where players unlock Night Warrior customization options for Night Elves. Proceed with caution. Spoilers ahead!
The following article contains 8.1 story spoilers that involve major characters. Click here to leave the article.
Tyrande's story continues in Tides of Vengeance, as players help her transform into the Night Warrior.
      TL;DR
Tyrande embarks on a mission to become the Night Warrior in Tides of Vengeance. Night Warrior is the incarnation of Elune's wrath. The ritual is very risky, because almost nobody was able to complete it. Tyrande blames Elune for not helping the kaldorei during the Burning of Teldrassil. Nathanos aided by two val'kyr raises Delaryn Summermoon (who died in Warbringers: Sylvanas) and Sira Moonwarden as Forsaken and flees the scene. Alliance kill one of Sylvanas' val'kyr (Brynja). For more details about Patch 8.1, check out our Tides of Vengeance hub.
      Tyrande's Ascension Highlights
You meet with Maiev Shadowsong and Shandris Feathermoon in Stormwind Keep to discuss Tyrande. She left for Darkshore ahead of the Alliance army and intends to wrest it from the Horde herself. Her ship was last seen near the Zoram Strand.
Upon arrival, you kill Forsaken Rogues and search the area to recover
Elun'tara, Bow of the High Priestess Discarded Nightsaber Bridle Ancient Kaldorei Tome Now, you're able to queue up for the Tyrande's Ascension scenario.
Stage 1 (In Teldrassil's Wake) - Take the rowboat to the Ruins of Auberdine
Stage 2 (Elune's Gaze) - Help Maiev and Shandris search for the Eye of Elune in the Ruins of Auberdine
Now you come across Massacred Horde Grunts that were killed by Tyrande.
Stage 3 (Cornered!) - Defeat Bilegut and survive the blight!
You're party is ambushed by Forsaken forces and a commander. They use blight against you.
Defeat Bilegut to proceed to stage 4.
Maiev singlehandedly slaughters all the Forsaken attacking your party.
Stage 4 (A Cry for Help) - Investigate the screams
You find a wounded Kaldorei Huntress laying on the ground.
Stage 5 (No Elf Left Behind) - Rescue the kaldoei prisoners in the Withering Thicket
Plenty of Horde soldiers are present in Withering Thicket. You must now rescue prisoners and free Ash'alah.
      Stage 6 (Closing In) - Ride Ash'alah to Bashal'Aran
You learn more about the Night Warrior ritual on your way to Bashal'Aran.
Stage 7 (Zenith) - Defend Bashal'Aran and help Tyrande complete the Ritual of the Night Warrior
Tyrande attempts to complete the Ritual of the Night Warrior and you must fend off Horde waves that try prevent her from completing it.
      Stage 8 (The Night Warrior)
Activate the Eye of Elune to complete the ritual.
A not yet implemented in-game cutscene plays and Tyrande successfully transforms into the Night Warrior.
Stage 9 (Nowhere to Run) - Hunt down Nathanos Blightcaller
Tyrande says Teldrassil burned, because she decided to spare Saurfang's life.
Next, you arrive at Ashwood Depot and it's infested with the Horde. Tyrande petrifies everyone with a single spell, but Nathanos is nowhere to be found.
Tyrande casts yet another spell that kills everyone but Deathstalker Commander Belmont.
Sputtering Fleshrenders arrive, Malfurion appears and kills them all.
Stage 10 (Nowhere to Hide) - Find Nathanos Blightcaller
You'll find Nathanos Blightcaller at Delaryn's Demise with two val'kyr Delaryn's corpse and Sira Moonwarden.
      Stage 11 (The Queen's Pawn)
Nathanos kills Sira Moonwarden with a single strike and the val'kyr prepare to raise Delaryn and Sira.
In the end, you'll defeat one of Sylvanas' val'kyr (Brynja), but Nathanos manages to escape and raise both Sira Moonwarden and Delaryn Summermoon.
Stage 12 (Eyes of the Forest) - Return to the fleet and scout the Horde army.
Don'thur's vision is not available on PTR realms yet and this brings the scenario to a close. You will be granted the In Teldrassil's Shadow achievement and unlock Night Warrior Night Elf customization options.
