Account-wide Rep Achieves, Ele Shaman, WoW Token Clarifications: September 18th Blue Posts

A lot of Blue posts today, featuring clarifications on the recent announcement that 8.1 will be making reputation achievements account-wide, two more new Elemental Shaman talents and some discussion on WoW token price drops.

The reputation-related clarifications focused on whether it was actual reputation that is account-wide or just the achievements themselves and how that will work with faction or mutually exclusive achievements:

Does this mean for example I'm halfway through honored with 7th legion on this toon. If I get on another alt and level through the 3 zones doing the questline that also give 7th legion rep that will count towards rep on this toon as well and I should be revered? Or vice versa all my alts should be halfway honored when they enter bfa?

Rep gain won't be account wide, however progress towards the achievement will.

Say for example I have Character A that I haven't touched since Wrath, that has all of the previous reps exalted (not using exact numbers here just making an example). Let's say we have 20 reputations at exalted on this character that are unique.

Now I play Character B that I haven't touched those reps with, because I just don't want to grind them again. Let's say this character has 40 unique reputations that Character A doesn't have at exalted. Since its the highest progressed character the achievement only looks at this character. Meaning that I just have 40 reps as far as the achievement is concerned.

Now once I've logged into both of those characters when this change is added into the game, I will then receive credit towards the achievement tracker and I would now show as having 60 reputations on that achievement. So I effectively don't have to go back and get those reps again, unless I want to make my Rep window look pretty.

Any word on how it will treat faction exclusive reps?

They will uniquely act as a singular rep to avoid double credit, similar with how mounts are tracked.

So if you have exalted 7th Legion on your Alliance character, and exalted with Honorbound on your Horde. Then your account only has credit for 1 of those 2 reps in the achievement tracker. Account wise they're the same rep.

Do you have any info on how Reps that you have to pick 1 of two will count? like oracles/frenzyheart and scryers/aldor? if I have 2 characters 1 with each does it count as 2 or do only 1 of the reps count.

It should count as 1. The intention is not to nerf the achievement or raise the number of reps you can have exalted at once, just to make it ease the burdens of alts/character-switching.

Then we're on to the two new Elemental Shaman talents that will be coming to the PTR as part of the big spec revamp this week:

Blizzard LogoElemental Shaman Talents (source)

Just as a quick update, here's the current version of the experimental new talents that will be hitting the PTR soon. Reminder that these are experimental, the PTR is for testing, we'll probably iterate on or completely replace these designs, etc.

Call the Thunder - Your maximum Maelstrom is increased by 30, and the Maelstrom cost of Earth ShockEarth Shock and EarthquakeEarthquake is reduced by 10.

Surge of Power - Earth Shock also enhances your next spell:

  • Flame ShockFlame Shock: The next cast does not incur a cooldown.
  • Lightning BoltLightning Bolt: Your next 3 casts will cause an additional Elemental Overload.
  • Lava BurstLava Burst: Reduces the cooldown of your Fire (or Storm) Elemental by 6 sec.
  • Frost ShockFrost Shock: Roots the target in place for 6 sec.

And finally, there was a discussion on why exactly the WoW token has dropped in price recently:

Blizzard LogoWoW Token Price Drop (source)

Posted by Merridae
From end of July 2018 to today the WoW Token price has dropped by half.
Make of that metric what you will but it tells me that such a steep decline in such a short timeframe is not a good thing.

This means that more people are buying the Tokens with real money faster than those buying the token with gold. Thus causing the price to fall. It unfortunately means a little less gold for your token, but the market dictates that is how much it's worth at the moment. Lot's of gold is moving around as its still the start of an expansion. It's pretty normal.

In fact it means the opposite of what you're proposing, its good for WoW as a whole because it means people are buying plenty of tokens to sell for gold. Slightly negative for token sellers if anything.

I totally see the point you're making though, in that it implies less people are buying tokens with gold. Which isn't necessarily the truth but rather the value of those selling them for gold has drastically changed causing the price to fall.

...

It’s because the Legion mission tables don’t give gold anymore. I was making 100K/day. Now I make like 5K a day

I think we're still a little too early to see the impact of that within the tokens but it will definitely have an impact in the long run.

...

And I think there's more to the equation than A + B = C.

It's very hard to imply or interpret player interest through a single point of data.

Definitely true as well! It's a little harder to infer fully the impact of the token within the economy as you guys don't have sight on the buying and selling rates. I'm pretty sure people can pick up on what I implied though in my explanation. ?

Dear Blizzard,
I don't want to be able to cast an Earth Shock and an Earthquacke in row, I don't want Earth Shock to enhance my other spells.
I WANT TO FREAKING CAST AN ELEMENTAL BLAST FOLLOWED BY 2 UNPROCCED LAVA BURST, SO JUST SHUFFLE THOSE TALENTS AND AVOID PUTTING ECHO AND ELEMENTAL BLAST IN THE SAME ROW!

Sincerely,
An angry (and hungry) Elemental Shaman.

Ele was in the best spot it’s ever been in last expac. I don’t see why it needed an overhaul, and those two talents sound fairly useless. I think ele players are being punished after Blizz were forced to drop their weird Colossus Smash rotation from the early beta.

I am still a little confused as to how this account rep is working, so all toons will get credit for the rep progress but still have to grind it separately if they want to actually be exalted to get stuff from that faction? how is that different from what we have now? why not just make all rep account wide so alts can walk up to a faction and be instant exalted and avoid the month long grind to get old outdated content gear and mounts and stuff?

Funny, I hear all over the place during Legion that WoD Ele shammies were better than the rework in Legion.

I say it explains perfectly, Rep achievements are account wide for the 100 achieve mount, but rep progress is still per char. If you want the items from the rep vendor, gotta work for it...At this moment you might have a alt character with, example: Hydraxian Waterlords, at max rep, it will only have it count towards the 100 on that character, and not the Main you have many others exalted. Its great for me since my Main doesnt have certain rep achievements like some of my others do...

It was also great during MoP, being able to cast lightning bolt while moving. WoD removed that, though AoE damage was insane back then, while still having overall pretty good single target. Legion was just ok, imo. Problem now, is that they nerfed elemental in both of these areas, hopefully upcoming changes will fix at least one of these. They said that shaman's weakness should have been it's mobile dps, while excelling on stationary, but not only dps suffers on most fights now, with how much movement they require, but also even when stationary those mobile classes are still easily able to do more. For example, if hunters, warriors and rogues can still do damage while moving, they should do a bit less damage when fight/phase is more stationary, so there is a certain balance and less mobile classes can contribute more. Either that, or just make everyone more mobile with some other niches they specialise in.

Ele was only good on the last patch of WoD because of the Arch's Ele trinket that buffed Flame Shock by a lot, and a talent that buffed FS even more. but WoD's Ele was not even close as good as MoP's Ele was.

MoP Ele >> Legion Ele >>>>> WoD Ele (patch 6.2).

We've already talked about and taken a first look at the Delve-specific mount coming in the War Within, but now it's time to check out all of its customization options!
LeystTV has delved into the mount and shown off all the options, from the different colors to nose, wing, thruster, and top customizations, with glider, blimp, helicopter looks and more! There's even different versions of Horde and Alliance decals to choose from!

And these may not even be all the options present at launch, not to mention new ones Blizzard might add with later patches, making this one of the cooler mounts in the game.

We have a Crest switch fix and weekly maximum increase, as well as a quest fix in retail, the big class tuning pass for Season of Discovery, and more in today's hotfixes.
      April 23 (Source)
      Items
Season 3 (Dreaming) crests are now correctly removed from players' currency tabs. Players have received a small amount of gold for their unused Dreaming Crests. Players can now earn up to 120 crests of each type per week in Dragonflight Season 4 (was a maximum of 90 per week in Season 3). This will allow for up to 8 upgrades per week, per crest type (was 6 in Season 3). Developers' notes: For players who don't reach their maximum crest earnings in a given week, we've implemented the increasing-seasonal-cap system from previous seasons. Please note that this increase is likely applicable to Season 4 only. We expect the weekly maximum to return to 90 for The War Within Season One. Quests
Resolved an issue where abandoning the quest "Something Worth Celebrating" could make it unavailable. Cataclysm Classic
The dates for Children’s Week have been adjusted so that the holiday begins and ends three days later than previously scheduled. Season of Discovery
Players who have completed the quest "Warranty Claim" but have misplaced their Pristine G-7 C.O.R.E. Processor before handing in the quest "Salvaging the Salvagematic" may now speak with the Lost and Found vendor Rix Xizzix in Booty Bay to recover the misplaced quest item. Fixed a Sunken Temple issue where the Atal'ai Defenders encounter would not reset properly. Druid The Natural Weapons talents now increases all damage done by druids in Season of Discovery, instead of just physical damage. The Gale Winds rune now reduces the mana cost of Hurricane by 60%. Swiftmend no longer consumes a Rejuvenation or Regrowth effect on the target when used. Developers’ notes: Please note that it does still require Rejuvenation or Regrowth to be on the target to be used. Hunter Rapid Killing now reduces the cooldown of Rapid Fire by 80% (was a reduction of 2 minutes). Chimera Shot weapon damage percent increased to 135% (was 120%). Explosive Shot base damage before attack power increased by 50%. Sniper Training has an additional new effect: while Sniper Training is at 5 stacks, Aimed Shot is instant. Serpent Spread now causes Multi-shot to apply Serpent Sting to its targets for 12 seconds (was 6 seconds). Steady Shot now deals 100% weapon damage (was 75%). Developers’ notes: There are more adjustments coming for Hunters. In general, we intend to improve the ranged playstyle and diminish the melee playstyle so that the two become more equivalent. Paladin Seal of Righteousness damage can now be critical hits. Sacred Shield’s duration is extended to 60 seconds (was 30 seconds). Crusader Strike has now gained an additional effect: Crusader strike now refreshes all judgement effects active on the target to a 30 second remaining duration. Seal of Martyrdom can now “twist” with other seals, including Seal of Command. Developers’ notes: Seal twisting was an interesting emergent effect that became popular during the original Burning Crusade, that utilized the slower server messaging system used in early versions of WoW to slightly extend the duration of the paladin’s active seal for a short time whenever a second seal was cast. This effectively allowed paladins to momentarily gain the benefit of two seals at once if they timed the application of a new seal to line up perfectly just before their weapon swing. We recreated this playstyle in Burning Crusade Classic and since then it’s been a popular request in other versions of original WoW, including Season of Discovery. As the game matures and we continue to listen to player feedback however, we recognize that for some, this is part of the charm and uniqueness of playing a paladin during those early eras of WoW’s history. We consider this change to be experimental and we will watch the performance and behavior of Retribution closely after this change. Priest Shadowform now increases all shadow damage done by 25% (was 15%). Rogue Saber Slash bleed now stacks up to 5 times. Saber Slash bleed now also increases the impact damage done by Sinister Strike and Saber Slash by 15% per stack for the rogue who applied the bleed. Saber Slash bleed now deals 3% of the rogue’s Attack Power in damage per tick (was 5%). Shaman Mental Dexterity now only triggers from dealing damage with Stormstrike and Lava Lash, and it now lasts 30 seconds (was 10 seconds). Burn now increases Flame Shock Damage by 100% and flame shock DoT duration by 6 seconds, and causes Flame Shock to strike up to 5 targets (was 3 targets). Developers’ notes: We’ve received a lot of feedback about the overall usability of mental dexterity, particularly for Elemental Shamans. This ability was not intended to be used by elemental, so the adjustments we’ve made are to help ensure its usage is a bit more enhancement-centric. To compensate, we’ve increased the output and usability of the Burn rune, with a slight quality-of-life improvement in the form of a Flame Shock duration increase which allows two Lava Burst casts to be used within a single Flame Shock duration.
