More Changes for Emissary Azerite Armor Rewards

Recommended Posts

We have more fine tuning coming for the emissary Azerite armor reward scaling, with a hotfix planned today. Two changes are on their way, the big one being more relaxed requirements for the 370 item level rewards as they were previously too high, and the other a fix for some issues where players were receiving lower item level items than they should.

For more info on all the recent emissary Azerite rewards changes check out this article.

Two quick updates:

Based on reports, we were able to find a strange behavior where a player's loot history could be inaccurate depending on the loot specialization they had selected. We believe this is why some players with average item levels over a certain Azerite threshold were seeing rewards lower than expected (e.g. players with 371+ average item level getting 355 Azerite caches). We have a hotfix currently in testing to correct this issue.

Secondly, we agree that the requirements for the 370 caches were a little too high initially. With things like this, we tend to err on the side of being too conservative so that we can relax restrictions later if need be, and that's what we're doing here. We're going to lower the average item level threshold required to see 370 Azerite Armor in Emissary caches slightly in another upcoming hotfix.

Both hotfixes are being worked on now, with the goal of getting them out later today.

Translated: Sorry, we had no idea how our algorithm is working. We now had a look at it but we're still unsure what it does. With our new testing system called "try and error" we gonna adjust the scaling.

Seriously, how it is possible to deploy such a chaos? From day to day i'm getting more confused what happened with quality Blizzard stood for...

So, how many AAA games with literally millions of lines of code, some of which is more than ten years old and long forgotten, have you worked on?

Tweak an already existing system, and suddenly a bug pops up that only occurs under very specific circumstances. Even if you spent all the time in the world testing, there are things which will never come up unless you put them out live.

The reason why games in general used to be more polished in the past is because they just were so much simpler. The bigger your software and the more interwoven systems you have, the higher the likelyhood of things breaking.

Oh, i'm aware of that fact. It's how it gets to this chaos:

  1. They hotfixed (!) this and announce, it scales based on overall average item level.
  2. People react: it is not.
  3. The clarify "Azerite Armor caches scale based on the highest item level soulbound gear you've picked up for each slot (even if you don't have the item any more). It doesn't have to be equipped or kept in your bags."
  4. People react: it is not.
  5. We got an information they are working on and it seems to be due to be based on loot specialization (which seems was not intended to be)

Look, i do understand it is not easy for them to work with 10 (and more) years old code and decisions. But its still Blizzard, a million-earing company and not a funny garage-enterprise. Its just not the first "bug" or mistake they deliver within this expansion. At some point it gets annoying and as i said confusing what the hell is going on there regarding quality.

You might be right, it's not worlds end :-). It's just adding up and it #feelsbadman to see how this game is ruining itself.

Id like a direction to be pointed where any expansion was bug free.

ETA: ill be the first to admit that this one seems, much heavier.  to say the least.

Sure, other expansions did have bugs. Well, it weren't bugs, it were Features ;-). No, i'm far far away to expect no bugs, it's simply barely possible to code something with this complexity withouth any.

But yes, i'm with you. In this Expansion it seems to have so many of them, they Keep fixing and fixing and fixing. But they not just have to fix bugs, no, they also have to fix design desicions as well. This is the reason why the brought up this emissary azerit-gear hotfix. And even if Blizzard says we are at the beginning of the expansion and this has ever been the case...i don't feel this way. We had tuning in last expansions and we had bugs...but not in this frequency as we have it nowadays.

Is my view distorted?

Not to my belief, no.  The level and quantity of bugs and fixes is astronomical, at least in my memory of comparison, as well.

It seems like more of a wording discrepancy we are fighting than a 'meat and potatoes' one.

Keys to the Model W is a new mount coming in Patch, rewarded from the Mechagon meta achievement (Mecha-Done).
This tme around, the achievement shouldn't be too hard to complete, because Mechagon is enabled for flying and Blizzard is adding Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part Two in Rise of Azshara.
      Mechacycle Model W
The rapid technological evolution of the descendents of Mimiron began with the introduction of a new gear, leading to such wonders as the tragically under-produced Model W.

      Animations (Run / Mount Special)
      Do you like the mount?

Players are currently reporting instances of sharding on Classic Beta. Blizzard confirmed this to be a bug, as they're not planning to use sharding in Classic and they came up with a completely new technology to ensure a smooth launch and an authentic Vanilla experience.
      Blizzard (Source)
Seen a couple instances of sharding happening since the last server restart about an hour ago. Blizz, what did you do?
This is a known issue that we are actively investigating. Please continue to report these types of mob-behavior if they are happening in other locations.
They just said it was a bug tho, it’s a beta, this is what we test in a beta.
This is definitely why we do a beta test. We can also do things like reset the realm at a busy time like 4:30pm PDT to try and find the source of a certain issue where a crocolisk is losing it’s brain due to how multiple processes are interacting and mirroring code to form a cohesive world. There were similar types of issues like this back in 2004 but we wanted to try and resolve this one before the weekend for the folks who are testing.

It seems some Vanilla features that weren't that logical but were kept in for Classic are confusing some beta players, as there's a whole lot of issues being reported that aren't actually bugs or issues at all!

Things like Tauren melee reach being bigger, which is something I experienced going away live during Black Temple Illidan progression (at least for that particular encounter), is confusing to players as it's a significant advantage over other races in some instances. No quest tracking is another apparently confusing issue, as many Mankirk's WIfe seekers well know, and there's a whole lot more where that came from:
      Not Bugs (source)
As we’ve discussed before, the nature of WoW Classic sometimes invokes different memories for different players, and this leads to certain misconceptions for some about what is or isn’t working as intended.
The following is a list of commonly-reported gameplay in WoW Classic that is not actually a bug, and is working as we expect it to:
Tauren’s hitboxes and their melee reach is slightly larger than other races. Being critically struck while using /sit to sit does not cause abilities like Enrage, Blood Craze, and Reckoning to activate. Using the “Automatic Quest Tracking” option does not auto-track newly accepted quests. (It instead will start to track an existing quest once progress towards an objective is started.) Warrior health Regeneration is working at the expected rate. Quests objectives and points of interests are not tracked on the map or minimap. Completed quests are marked on the minimap with a dot. (and not a “?”) Feared players and NPCs run fast. Standing on top of other players while facing away allows spells and attacks to be used. Creature respawn rates are much slower than in Battle for Azeroth. NPCs which offer multiple quests may inconsistently display them as a dot or a “!” on the available quests list. They were inconsistent in 1.12, and we’ve reproduced the exact inconsistency they had back then. Quests that are too low level for do not show up as a “!” in the game world. Available quests do not display a “!” on the minimap. On level up, the message: “Your skill in Protection increased to 15” was added in 1.12.1, and we’re intending to keep that. We appreciate all of your feedback!

With Classic Beta live, Blizzard posted a list of known issues that are present in the first build of the game.
If you're participating in the testing and notice a bug that isn't listed below, make sure to report it through the new Bug Reporter, bound to "F6" by default.

Greetings and welcome to the WoW Classic Beta Test!
Below is a list of known issues for the initial WoW Classic Beta release. Please note that this list is not a complete depiction of what we’re aware of, but a sampling of issues we believe players may encounter with some regularity. We’ll try to keep this updated with trending issues when possible.
      Classes and Combat:
Activating Raptor Strike while Auto Shot is toggled on does not cause the hunter to begin to Auto Attack in melee Hunter pets do not auto-cast Dash or Dive when engaging their targets Hunter pets may not immediately return to your side upon entering passive mode Many talents are currently missing their requirements text User Interface:
Attempting to sign into twitter through the interface option crashes the client World map path indicators during transport loading screens may be inaccurate Items with randomly generated stats will display the <Random Enchantment> tag in the loot window and chat tooltips when being looted Creatures and NPCs:
Some creatures in the game world are missing textures Environments:
There is a strip of missing water in the Mosshide Fen area of the Wetlands Dungeons:
There is no water present in the Ironclad Cove area of the Deadmines dungeon If you find any other bugs in-game, we’d like to encourage you to use the in-game bug reporter to send those bug reports off to us before posting bug reports on these forums. We noticed the presence of Agents of the Black Prince in Rise of Azshara. This article contains spoilers.
We haven't heard of Wrathion for a long time until now. In Rise of Azshara, we noticed the presence of Blacktalon Watchers in both Nazjatar and during the Essence intro questline, carefully spying on you.

The agent obviously won't tell you anything and tells you to mind your own business.
Go about your business, champion of Azeroth. You and I have no quarrel.
      > What's an agent of the Black Prince doing here? (Gossip Text)
This information isn't mine to give at this time. You have your hands full as it is. Go about your business and you will know more, soon enough.
Magni sends you to Neltharion's Lair in Highmountain to close fissures and recover an Essence that is later used for your Heart of Azeroth. The questline servers as an introduction to Essences and you will get the The Heart Forge achievement upon completion.
During the quest, we are aided by Spiritwalker Ebonhorn who is actually Ebyssian of the Black Dragonflight, but he poses no threat, according to MOTHER. What's interesting is the fact that Ebyssian can't leave Highmountain without risking Old God corruption, but we see him enter the new Chamber of Heart. (Source)

We also found a Blacktalon Watcher in Nazjatar, carefully watching over the area.

It seems Wrathion and the Black Dragonflight are going to play a role in Battle for Azeroth's upcoming patch, but we don't know more at this time. Let us know your theories down in the comments!
