Doubleagent Has Hit 120 with Only Herb and Mining!

Recommended Posts

MJSmeDp.jpg

Everyone's favorite panda is back and has finished up his Battle for Azeroth quest! As with previous expansions, Doubleagent has dinged max level without ever having left the Wandering Isle and without ever having picked a faction. He does this solely by mining and herbalism, with a paltry 20XP for each node, so it's taken him quite a while to finish up. The final level alone took 8 days with the full journey having started with the expansion's launch, the first 111 ding coming a day after BfA arrived.

He's also gained a bit of a following for this last leg, that finished earlier today. You can check out the final moments as well as the last 1 and a half hours below:

You can also check out his previous max level ding back in legion, with a FAQ on his methods to go with it right here

Despite the 'no-life' memes above, I'm pretty impressed by the dedication DA shows to his little project, even six years after Mists came out. It's just a fun little quirk of the WoW community that makes me smile every expansion, come rain or shine, I know a few months after launch DA will hit cap again.

Congrats i guess, i personally don't see the point in it, since you don't get anything in the game for doing it and it seems so long-winded for no return.

Maybe he get's fun out of it. If that's the case he's getting more out of herb gathering and mining than I get out of BfA ?

He has ton of notoriety for this project.

Not just here but on the official forums, MMO-Champion and even Blizzard blues know about this project.

I think it’s a really cool thing he’s doing.  Obsessive, silly, no title(s) etc but really a unique thing that someone is max level without a faction.

So if he turns War Mode on do both sides get to kill him?  Also Im interested to know how much gold this dude has.  Hell I made over a mil back when Cata launched and that was only going from 80-81 with Mining.

Well, he was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records gaming edition a couple years back. I doubt that was his goal from the beginning, but that's some reward on its own.

Remember that he can't send his loot to another character because he hasn't a faction. He can't sell on the AH, he has to sell all his loot to a NPC Vendor... but still interesting how much it is just from the pure amount of stuff he had to sell.

Different types of gamer I guess. Personally I love it when people find their own way to play a game without being prompted by in game rewards. Like doing a full pacifist run of a game where you don't kill anything, no rewards for it except your own sense of accomplishment.

If memory serves, War Mode can only be turned on in Ogrimmar and Stormwind. ^_^

There's no PvP on Panda Isle, since there are no factions at that point for this race.

He has "the Chosen" title, which requires you to have finished Mythic Trial of Valor without dying - and it was removed in 8.0, so it had to be done on-level. So presumably the guy is not just some novelty act.

We have a very Dracthyr-looking piece of concept art from way back pre-Vanilla, as xperio28 spotted a bulkier version of the new race coming in Dragonflight in the Art of World of Warcraft book!
There's been a lot of talk about the look of the Dracthyr, mostly focusing on their size and bulkiness, and while the art below almost certainly isn't of this specific race, as it was made pre-Vanilla WoW, it's looking very similar:

      Source: xperio28.
The text is very hard to make out, but enigmapenguin and YendorWons in the thread may have figured it out, at least partially:
Greater whelp grown to man size will hunt other dragon whelps then larger dragons feed on The whole "feed on" aspect is particularly interesting, as there's plenty of speculation going around on whether or not Galakrond, the OG dragon-eater will have something to do with Dragonflight's story (especially with the potential for the Infinite dragonflight's involvement).
We've have plenty of bipedal dragon-like creatures in WoW over the years so the connection isn't direct, but it is interesting to see how far back the idea of playable-looking dragon race goes, especially since we know the original plan was to have many more playable races, including naga.
