WoW Classic Demo Details

Recommended Posts

40239-dev-watercooler-inside-the-wow-cla

Virtual Ticket holders will be able to play WoW Classic Demo tomorrow and Blizzard's implementing an initial playtime time limit and a cooldown to help as many people as possible play the demo. For example, if you play for 60 minutes, you'll be disconnected and then have to wait 30 minutes to play again.

The session limit is in line with global strings that we datamined earlier.

  • WOW_ERROR_331
    • You recently reached the time limit for your World of Warcraft Classic session! Please try again in approximately %d |4hour:hours;, %d |4minute:minutes;.
  • WOW_ERROR_333
    • Thanks for playing World of Warcraft Classic! You've reached the time limit for your current session, but you can play again in approximately %d |4hour:hours;, %d |4minute:minutes;.

The plan is to lift session limits as soon as possible and only reinstate them if unexpectedly high demand returns.

When the World of Warcraft: Classic demo becomes available to play at home on Friday, November 2, we will ensure maximum availability to players at home by initially establishing session limits.

When the demo goes live, we’ll use a playtime time limit and a cooldown (that starts when you first log in) to help as many people as possible play the Classic demo as much as possible. We’ll start with a playtime limit of a cumulative 60 minutes and a cooldown of 90 minutes. Here are some examples of how that might work:

  • If you play for 30 minutes and then log off for 60 minutes, when you come back you’ll have a fresh 60 minutes.
  • If you play for 60 minutes, you’ll be disconnected and then have to wait 30 minutes before you can play again.
  • If you play for 20 minutes, log off for 20 minutes, then play 40 more minutes, you’ll be logged off and wait 10 more minutes.

Our goal is to lift session limits as quickly as we feasibly can after the demo goes live. We will then only reinstate session limits if unexpectedly high demand returns.

We will update this post with further information on this, as necessary.

Thank you!

People are going to be so disappointed with this demo...

I mean, it's only a demo. It's not supposed to be the real thing yet, and it's likely that the servers are not developed well enough yet to handle a large influx of players. People are always going to be whining and complaining, it's in our nature as human beings. It still has major potential though, so I'll give it that.

easy way to find out if your account has the virtual ticket unlocked - do you have the cloaks and the banners unlocked in WoW ?
if not: something went wrong, contact a gm if you cant find out what
if yes: still contact a gm since ... again ... something went wrong but out of your ability to fix it yourself since this would be more like a bug
anyways, make sure to contact them asap -- not much time left

Superb idea!

Give some, wait some, everybody gets a decent sized shot.  Good job!

Logged in, 20 EU test servers. Only 2 were "high" and 18 were low. Created a priest. Couldn't find the face I remembered I had, but that can be me.

Loaded in. Accepted quest, well I waited (and read) till the quest text was all there and the accept button could be pressed. Cool forgot about that, I actually like it.

Luckily I remembered where to find some bandits, as there is no quest helper.
Stamina buff, check.
Inner Fire, check.
Shield, check.
Smite > Mind Blast > SW: Pain > Smite….

Holy crab, he is running away, wait there's no wand on my hotbar. Okay, Smite again. Next Bandit, oh hold on mana is low. (OOM) Melon Juice in my bag, let's drink it.

---------

The game got the vibe it had in Vanilla. Slow paced, not really taking you by the hand. A lot of running back and forth. The skill trees have so many choices at low level. Do I pick a healing spec right away or pick stuff that will help me "solo". The levelling experience is certainly there. (Endgame, I still have my doubts for, but that wasn't tested this weekend.)

Executive Producer Holly Longdale teased some upcoming experimental PvE-focused content that Blizzard will soon reveal to the community.
It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.
Holly Longdale today teased an upcoming PvE-oriented event that will soon be revealed to us. Holly might be talking about the "Timerunning Pandamonium," expected in Patch 10.2.7.
      (Source)
      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. It will be exciting to see some of the community content creators going head-to-head as duos during the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on March 30!  This isn’t the end of the things we want to try in World of Warcraft, however, and we have more in store we can’t wait to show you.
Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
      Holly Longdale
