Blood Tanking Malkorok HC

Heyas community!

My guild is currently progressing through Malkorok HC and I intend to try out my luck solotanking the 2nd phase. So now I'm looking for advice/recommendation/experience on rotating cooldowns for that phase. I have Rook's Talisman, but I'm missing Vial of Living Corruption.

I have access to my own CDs (duh) and for externals I'll always have Vigilance available and in most cases also Ironbark.

Currently I'm thinkin for the first Bloodrage IBF -> Rooks talisman + Bone Shield

Not having the Vial, my IBF would be on CD for the next one, so for that one Rook's Talisman + Boneshield -> Vigilance + Ironbark + Army of the dead.

Any and all feedback greatly appreciated.

You can also work in Vampiric Blood into both of them, armor potion once, and depending on your raid comp other options could be Pain suppression from a disc priest and Might of Ursoc if there's a druid that can give you symbiosis (normally I would say its the most useless symbiosis, but in this situation every little bit counts).

It's hard for a DK though. We lost our pally tank so we were talking about me solo'ing the blood rage next week, but I tried it out in Flex over the weekend and got wrecked. It'll be interesting to see what we can pull off in heroic.

Mmyeah, as VB isn't damage reduction per say so I thought I'd keep it as a "wild card" for when things go hairy. Or right at the beginning for easier phase transition.

Also does armor potion work? I was under the assumption that the P2 damage ignores armor.

As for DKs doing it, I'm a little scared of it myself, but I have a source who assures their guild does it with a DK tank.

I am the source, and I obviously forgot to ask our DK how he does it. (kick me for being noob)

We are doing 10-mans on HC, he's viable. wink.png Asking him on fb atm, I'll edit the post when my question gets answered.

Edit#2:

Deh answer:

First off: Have 12 Bone Shield on start (I think that means you should have 6 up and 6 ready to use). He has the Vial of Living corruption on which means his CD's, but Army of the Dead are up for both Blood Rages phases.

His CD rotation is the following:

1.) Pop Dancing Rune Weapon + start channeling Army of the Dead

2.) Icebound Fortitude

3.) Rook's Unlucky Talisman

4.) If the trinket falls off before the phase ends, Vampiric Blood + Death Strike on swing timer = omfghigh Blood Shields

He also said he can also do it without any CD's, only Blood Shield (and maybe Bone Shield), but I'd recommend to play it safe. :P

My thoughts

Its obvious, but I'll still write it down: Have no Fatal Strike stacks when solotanking Blood Rage. :P
How to: Start tanking Malkorok, have your co-tank taunt him off at 9-12 stacks, than keep taunting every 15 stacks. This will result in you having 0 stacks and your co-tank 15-20 Stacks of Fatal Strike (depends on how hard you have failed at taunting.... :P) He/she will need to move behind Malkorok, even out of his melee range if any melee DD gets debuffed. Repeat.

If you have 2 Blood Rage phases, I'd say to use the Army only on the second one, since it hits 25% harder. I know our DK doesn't use any Externals to tank it, but if you feel squishy, do not be afraid to ask for some.

Here is his Armory link: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/twisting-nether/Asheris/advanced

I hope we halp'd, have fun tanking (I envy you all...)!

Thankyou. I'll probably play it safe and ask for externals at certains points at least the first few times and then start pushing my limits.

Much appreciated mr. Source. :D

Ok, so 10m HC it should be really easy for a DK to solo the blood rage. I was thinking of it from a 25 HC perspective and that is borderline impossible for a dk, but I checked the fight info last night, and it's 6.8mil dmg in 25 vs 2.7mil in 10. I can almost live through the 6.8mil popping everything I have, so in 10m it probably only tickles with a good cd rotation.

Yeah, as I've said, we are doing 10-mans at the moment. Anyone (tank) who is doing 10H should be able to survive that kind of damage, DK's and Monks pretty easily, not sure about others, but every tank has its own tools.
In 25-mans, well.... I'd make a Monk tank it.

      Hello there!

<Shadow> on Argent Dawn has been going since 2009. We are a close-knit community and strongly believe in recruiting people who will fit in with us rather than just whoever is topping the meters. We also believe that having a busy RL life with job/family/social commitments and committing to Mythic raiding as a hobby we're all passionate about are not mutually exclusive. We are looking to bolster our line-up to push for Cutting Edge in Antorus.

      About us

We progress raid Thursdays and Sundays, 20:00-23:00 and 19:30-22:30 respectively (all times server time)
We have a non-mandatory farm raid Fridays at 20:30 that socials and alts are welcome to
We use Discord for voice communication and have an active server to hang out, chat, and organise M+ runs
We maintain a mature environment - having a laugh is great, but bullying, endless meme-spamming and the like are not welcome
We believe in learning from your mistakes - you will never be yelled at, but you will be asked whether you know what you did wrong and how you can fix it

      What we expect from recruits

Sign up to raids ahead of time and give us a heads-up in case of longer absences
Be there 15 minutes before raid start and bring your own consumables as back-up to feasts and cauldrons
Do your homework - research encounters thoroughly and understand them
Understand and know how to play your class
Have Discord installed and a working microphone, ready to speak when required but without cluttering up comms with chatter
You don't need to grind to the point of burn-out, but keep up with AP traits and do M+ to hone your skills and supplement your gear
Be a team player and bring a positive attitude. Wipes happen in Mythic. Constructive feedback is great, backseat raid leading is not.

What we are currently looking for

A rule that applies to all potential recruits is: We do not recruit for the bench, but we will always take the team that is most likely to defeat the boss and cannot promise everyone they will always be in for every fight. When things are equal in terms of performance and required composition, we much prefer to rotate people in and out over benching someone for an entire night.
One Healer - Paladin preferred, but any class that isn't priest will be considered
One Tank - Bear, Brewmaster or Blood DK
Melee DPS - got one spot for a Rogue
Ranged DPS - Boomkins, Shadow Priests, Warlocks and Hunters

If this sounds like the guild for you, check us out at shadow-wow.enjin.com or contact the Co-GMs Alec#2922 and NevNev#2669 for more info!

      See you in Antorus!

Dry Rub is a small 10+ guild on the Daggerspine (U.S./CST) server that is looking to expand our numbers for Antorus and beyond! We are all set to hit the next raid immediately and are looking for some extra players to join us in our Heroic progression. Currently we have H ToS on farm status with the odd hiccup on H KJ due to roster size and variations. We are not elitists, we do not spam meters or force requirements on players. Someone has to be on the bottom of the damage and there's nothing wrong with that. As long as you can perform the mechanics within a boss fight, are a decent learner and have the initiative to go the extra mile when needed, then you are welcome to join our guild! This recruitment is a long-term plan for beyond Antorus and throughout the Battle For Azeroth.

We do not do applications- this is a video game and that is a stupid requirement. We will talk to you briefly, feel you out, see what it is you are looking for and if you are interested and think you will be a positive addition to our ranks then go ahead and send me a private message either on here or in-game.

Currently our interests in recruits are:
1x Replacement Tank (Demon Hunter, Monk, preferred)
1x Auxillary/primary healer (we have enough heals for our group but to expand we will need a third healer (Shaman/Druid preferred)
3x DPS- We have a decent roster of ranged and melee currently. We are in need of Warriors, Rogues (not Outlaw, you know why) SV Hunters (if are good at it, GL), Feral/Moonkin Druids, Windwalker Monks, Demonology Warlocks and Shadow Priests.
This is our current interest for recruits currently. These classes and specs will be looked at with preference but we don't want you to think that we will not consider you just because your spec may overlap with our current roster. We are accepting all classes and specs (almost) and that will not change until our roster has increased to require re-balancing. We have a dedicated Guild Master and Officer crew who will be working with you to improve your game and improve your understanding of things. If you are a good listener and can follow directions well then you will work out great with us, regardless of your DPS (within reason, please be at least 700k+ on a dummy). The one exception to this we have is that No Protection Paladins are being considered currently.

Our raid times are Friday and Saturday, 10pm-1am CST and our current schedule is a full clear of H ToS to KJ on Friday and if it spills over, finish it up on Saturday. Our clears up to H KJ take roughly an hour to an hour and a half max and KJ takes up the rest of the time as we work with new players and their understanding of handling certain mechanics. We not not going to turn away players who may not be the highest damage or happen to make the odd mistake (we all do, and we all have "those fights"). We want open minded players who have something to contribute besides their ability!

Our loot system is Personal. We do not believe in any Loot Council, they do not fit the atmosphere and climate we bring to our raids and we want our players to be responsible for their own loot. The only thing we ask is if you receive something you know is not an upgrade and someone else could benefit from, throw it in the raid chat and allow a /roll for it. If you are unsure of it we will explain to you the benefits of the item and whether or not you will actually gain from it.

The Addons we will be requiring to raid are DBM (obviously), Pawn, Weak Auras (just that you use it, no specific requirement outside what you know you need to be tracking), and a clean UI that allows you to raid optimally. If you do not use these addons currently or do not understand how to use them efficiently, we are more than happy to help you figure them out!

Our current raid team (Guild) consists of:

      1x Blood Death Knight (MT)
1x Blood Death Knight/ Guardian Druid (OT)

      1x Holy Paladin (MH)
      1x Discipline Priest (OH)

      1x Beast Mastery Hunter
      1x Havoc Demon Hunter
      1x Frost Mage
      1x Assassination Rogue
      1x Affliction Warlock
If you have any questions or just want to hang out sometime shoot me a message on here or in-game - Fox#1587 or Moon#1672.

I figured I'd do a Part 2 of this since I've managed to move from having never tanked before to now I can't get enough of it.
I've noticed a few things and wanted as much input as I can get. What has struck me so far is the lack of healers running PUGs at the lvl 60-ish area. It takes forever to get a PUG group together and I haven't been able to keep a healer with us more than 1 run through. I've made some DPS friends through PUGs which is pretty cool, but what is up with the healers???
The second thing is how my damage relates to a few other classes at about the same level. I'm currently lvl 67. I'm able to hold aggro nearly most of the time. I have some PUG members than have a pet with taunt or something but for the most part I am good to go. What I will see are Death Knights and some Warlock/Mages that seem to be doing crazy damage while only being a level or 2 higher than I am. Is that normal or am I undergeared? I haven't quite downloaded a damage meter just yet but from watching the health bar on the enemies I've noticed that those 2 can do some big damage by themselves! So is it a gear issue with me, is it just the nature of their class at that level or are they over-geared with extra goodies figuring their main has helped pay for their current state of their equipment? And with that, any recommendations or just hang in there until I get much higher level when better equipment appears? I have Heirloom for my chest, back, shoulders, weapon and trinkets. I haven't really found any quest gear or dungeon drops that is better that what I have now.
I can't say Thank You enough to everybody that posted advice and encouragement in my first thread. It was very helpful and I've taken a lot of it to heart and put it to work. I have had so much fun doing this...as like most things in life you are leery of...once you try it you only regret NOT doing it sooner.

Associated with the <Validus Knights> of Feathermoon (a guild almost as old as World of Warcraft), we are an independent raid being built from the ground up. The creators and leaders of this raid are two players who have been raiding in WoW since the early days of the Burning Crusade. We are a friendly and fun group of people who seek to develop a solid raid team that will progress through Antorus, The Burning Throne and well into the next expansion pack. We are currently seeking 1 experienced tank, at least 2 healers, and both melee and ranged dps.
THIS IS AN EAST COAST RAID. We will be running our raid on TUESDAY and FRIDAY nights at 6PM to 9PM Eastern time (That is 3PM to 6PM for Feathermoon's server time)
      Important notes:
We will be focusing on Heroic Tomb of Sargeras to start with. Those who are already members of the raid are experienced with all encounters. This is not a guild raid, but we have abundant resources. Joining a guild will not be required (however, it is an option if you are interested). There are performance expectations for all roles, but these will not be unreasonable. Knowledge of your class is expected. Preparation for boss encounters is expected. Item level is not as important to us as performance and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. We are willing to support you if you are willing to apply equal effort. If you are interested in joining our team, please post here. If you are on the Feathermoon/Scarlet Crusade server, you may contact Keyblade or Bubskii directly in-game.
      Thank you very much.

As the title says, I've finally rolled a Tank and opted for a class I've always wanted to play; the Druid. Coming from a Shaman and Paladin that has done a lot of both Resto and DPS I felt it is time to try the other side!
I have never tanked before...I was going to queue up for my first ever dungeon run but chickened out. I don't want to make a mess of it first time out before talking to some of you that have been here before. I'm still VERY low level...hit 18 last night while questing. Basic gear but have money from other toons if needed for gear.
My questions are...when did some of you start your first tanking experience? Is gear at that low level of any importance or is everything pretty forgiving your first few times out so you can get an idea of rotation and how things work? Anybody have a few wipes on their first time out? Any advice for my first time out?
Appreciate the hell out of the help! Thanks in advance and hopefully tonight I can partition off some time to get my first dungeon run in! I'm back after playing through until Cataclysm so it has been fun seeing all the new things added...a 6 year hiatus is quite a long time!
