Stitches 2018 Gameplay Update

Recommended Posts

iM0v4zs.jpg

The Terror of Darkshire will be reworked in an upcoming Heroes of the Storm patch and Kevin Johnson guides us through the highlights in the latest video.

Rework Goals

  • Increase enemy interaction
  • Embrace abomination fantasy
  • Level-up talent tree

Rework Highlights

  • Trait Changes
    • Previously, Stitches would spread Vile GasVile Gas to nearby enemies whenever he took damage. His new trait is called Vile Cleaver and it makes him spread Vile GasVile Gas when using Basic Attacks against his enemies. Continuous attacks to enemy Heroes will increase the duration of Vile GasVile Gas, prolonging its damage-over-time (DoT) effect.
      • The trait rework boosts Stitches' wave clear.
  • Basic Abilities
    • HookHook (Q) range has been reduced, but multiple talents were changed to increase its utility.
      • Serrated Edge (Level 4 Talent) deals percentage damage and reduces the cooldown on successful HookHooks.
      • Gas Flair (Level 13 Talent) does passive AoE damage around Stitches that will greatly increase whenever enemy Heroes are snagged.
      • Meat Hook (Level 16 Talent) provides a large heal that can be refreshed with Basic Attacks, whenever an enemy is caught out of position.
    • SlamSlam (W) now comes with a baseline slow.
  • Other Talents
    • Shambling Horror (Cooldown: 60 seconds) is a new talent that boost Stitches' late game survival.
      • Activate to gain 50 Armor for 4 seconds.
      • Passive: Stitches cannot have his Movement Speed reduced below 100%.

They shouldn't reduce the hook range too much. Stitches was always about the hooks (with fishing) and melee area control/peel. Nerfing hook and giving him auto attack utility is kinda weird. His wave clear was ok anyway. The only really good thing is baseline slow on slam, I always struggled to chose 16 lvl slow over fishing hook. He still probably won't get any sort of build/talent diversity. His current builds are more like anti-mage/anti-melee/self-sustain variations and they provide for no real change in gameplay anyway.

So he's now more bruiser. Neat. I wonder if they will taking fishing hook away. It would be a heavy hit to hook's shtick that would change his playstyle a lot and I'm not sure how I would feel about that.

Never had a waveclear issue.

The cynic in me is afraid this is a smokescreen while they utterly nerf his slam build again.

Yeah, seriously.  Inb4 all slam talents are removed, like the way Tyrael does no damage now but was given no cc

You have your AAs to help waveclearing now, so even if the Slam damage talent is removed your overall waveclear should be better unless the numbers really stink.

I can imagine this requiring some practice though, but at least Stitches is tanky enough to forgive a mistake or two.

Really no point to nerf hook range as hook can always be block by a lot of things like wall, minion, monster, building, hero's spawn(azmo's warrior, raynor banshee, jaina water element,......)

They should increase stitch movement speed a bit with some talent so that he can out chase ppl as he is just melee and depend on hook aim to get ppl.

Assuming it stays the same, Hungry for MoreHungry for More gives 10% move speed when completed. Coupled with the new lvl 20 "Shambling Horror" will help him quite a bit.

I think this is actually a waveclear nerf. His trait currently cannot be affected by attack speed debuffs, blinds, most forms of cc... Having it linked into his basic attacks in the revised trait means that he can't do high amounts of passive siege. I'm not saying it's a bad change overall, and I am excited by the sound of several talents, but it's curious as to where he will fall inside the new meta next year.

Shambling Horror also makes Gorge a much more terrifying late game ability without the storm talent for it. As an opposing tank a good Stitches is often one of the reasons I am forced to go in and try to save a team mate. If I can't slow him past 20 I will have to rely solely on bodying and stunning Stitches, both of which have their own issues lol

I'm betting his hook range shortened is so if you get Fishing Hook it will then change his range back to what it currently is now before this update. So it isn't so ridiculously oppressive reach from the fog of war once you get Fishing Hook like it is now. In the same way they shortened Chrome's ridiculously long range for the same reason.

I hope they've done something about how annoying (& deadly AF) Flea Bag made him where he can recast his abilities in like 2 seconds if he gets hit with 2 debuffs. That one was just like in 6 seconds... hooked... and hooked... and hooked... 3 people dead ...WTF... Like that Wubby clip of his doing that. SO WTF!? I've seen something similar happen in games I've been in too.

Seems good overall, the only significant nerf being the hook. Looks like he can be way more aggressive now so that playstyle should feel more rewarding, also glad he lost that generic talent.

Yeah, imagine a Stitches with old Flea BagFlea Bag and the new Shambling Horror? Can't slow him, and if you try to stun him you only make it worse.

All I can think of is putting him to sleep. Enforced naptime every time he wants to play.

The new Season has just started and the first Nexus Anomaly comes in the form of Experience Globes which can be gathered from fallen Minions. Check out our Anomalies guide to learn more about how the globes work, affect the meta, and interact with each Hero.
Storm League 2019 Season 4 is in full swing right now, meaning that the first Nexus Anomaly has been enabled in all regions. The developers have changed how Experience is gathered from Minions in all Game Modes and instead of simply being around, you must now collect Experience Globes from dead Minions. The idea is to introduce a new anomaly each Season and depending on community feedback, some anomalies may become permanent additions to the game.
Did you know that Abathur's Evolve Monstrosity will not soak Experience Globes unless it's affected by Symbiote?
Check out our Nexus Anomaly guide for more information!

Meta heroes define the metagame. They are very often banned or picked right away, as they generally dictate the pace of most drafts and matches.
Generalists form the core of your team and are generally picked after Meta picks have been distributed. They tend to work on most maps, and as part of and against most team compositions. Since this group includes most heroes, I elected to split it into three tiers. High-tier rankings are a result of performance (i.e. win rates) and popularity (i.e. pick and ban rates). This means that heroes with high win rates can be set in low tier; the opposite may also be true.
Situational picks shine on specific maps or as part of specific team compositions.
