Patch 8.1 Hotfixes: December 12th

Here comes the big one, as yesterday's hotfixes were just a warmup and today we have the main event. We have the profession high item level requirements change from yesterday reverted, Expulsom tweaks for recipes, returning Scouting Maps, another big wave of Azerite Trait changes this time in PvE, while PvP gets a whole lot of class changes and fixes.

Dungeons and Raids

  • Uldir
    • Vectis
      • Fixed a bug causing Vectis to cast an extra Contagion prior to casting Liquefy.

Items

  • Scouting maps that teach flight paths to your alts have returned to the Honorbound and 7th Legion vendors.
  • Island Flotsam Island Flotsam will now correctly change to Dented Coin Dented Coin s when a Horde character changes to Alliance.
  • Dented Coin Dented Coins will now correctly change to Island Flotsam Island Flotsam when an Alliance character swaps to Horde.
  • Heart of Azeroth

Missions

  • Fixed a bug that caused Treasure Map missions to expire in 8 hours. They now expire in 72 hours.
    • Developers’ note: This won’t affect missions that are currently in a player’s mission list, only newly-created missions.

Professions

  • Reverted yesterday's change to require Profession skill for using high iLvl crafted items.
  • A number of recipes have been adjusted so that the Expulsom Expulsom required by the recipe matches the amount of Expulsom Expulsom returned when you scrapped the crafted item.

Player versus Player

  • Fixed a bug that caused players who have earned seasonal Gladiator achievements in Legion: Season 5 and Battle for Azeroth: Season 1 to not earn the Gladiator achievement.

      • Fixed an issue that caused the Zombie summoned by Reanimation Reanimation (PvP Talent) to have more health than 5.
      • Fixed a bug that caused Necrotic Strike Necrotic Strike 's initial damage to not be increased by Mastery: Dreadblade Mastery: Dreadblade .
      • Fixed a bug that could cause Necrotic Strike Necrotic Strike to apply too large of a healing absorb against non-player targets.
      • Fixed a bug that caused the heal generated by Life and Death Life and Death (PvP Talent) to be a critical heal.
      • Fixed a bug that caused the heal of Life and Death Life and Death to be larger than 10% of a heal cast on a target with your Festering Wound Festering Wound .

    • Discipline
      • Resolved an issue that caused Power Word: Shield Power Word: Shield 's value to be lower than intended when engaged in combat with enemy players.
      • Power Word: Shield Power Word: Shield absorbs an additional 10% when engaged in combat with enemy players.
        • Developers’ note: Shadow Priests’ Power Word: Shield was unaffected by the above and is unchanged.

    • Fixed a bug that caused Vanish Vanish to end before the normal duration when taking damage and harmful effects.

World Quests

  • Captured Zandalari no longer knockback NPCs during “Azerite Mining ”.
  • Fixed an issue where Fozruk can sometimes fail to grant you World Quest credit.
  • Fixed a bug that could remove a player from their manasaber mount on “Ley Race ”.

      Blizzard just outlined the changes coming to Rogue's Serrated Bone Spike (Necrolord Covenant Ability) in Patch 9.0.5.

      In patch 9.0.5, we’re reworking the Rogue Necrolord Covenant ability Serrated Bone Spike. We’re now testing this set of changes:
      Rogue Serrated Bone Spike initial damage increased by 300%. Resolved an issue that prevented Serrated Bone Spike’s initial damage from dealing a critical strike. Serrated Bone Spike now grants 1 combo point plus 1 per active bone spike after it strikes the target. Serrated Bone Spike no longer refunds a charge and gets removed when the target is healed to full. Serrated Bone Spike is now removed when the target leaves combat. The design intention for this button is: impale your enemy with a bone spike from Maldraxxus, inflicting a permanent damage over time on them. We found that while the ability performed well in situations where multiple targets persisted for long times, it was unattractive elsewhere.
      Greatly increasing the spell’s initial damage should improve its performance in the ‘other’ situations, including those where the enemy doesn’t live very long. However, we then feel we need to address a problem with the ability in PvP. Previously, if the afflicted target was healed to full, the damage over time effect would be removed and a charge of the spell refunded. The way this played out was the effect constantly being removed and charges constantly being refunded. As a result, the Rogue is compelled to constantly hit this button. With an increase to the initial damage component, this could be problematic. So we’re removing that mechanic, and we’re removing the bleed entirely whenever a player leaves combat.

      This week's Patch 9.0.5 Build 37774 was marked as Release Candidate, but when will the patch hit live servers?
      Something really important to keep in mind when determining the release date of Patch 9.0.5 is the maximum Renown cap that we will reach next week.
      Shadowlands Release Week: Renown level 3; Week of December 1: Renown level 6; Week of December 8: Renown level 9; Week of December 15: Renown level 12; Week of December 22: Renown level 15; Week of December 29: Renown level 18; Week of January 5: Renown level 21; Week of January 12: Renown level 24; Week of January 19: Renown level 26; Week of January 26: Renown level 28; Week of February 2: Renown level 30; Week of February 9: Renown level 32; Week of February 16: Renown level 34; Week of February 23: Renown level 36; Week of March 2: Renown level 38; Week of March 9: Renown level 40. Although there are no new Renown levels in Patch 9.0.5, there are a few changes coming to the weekly Renown quests! If you reach Renown 40, the weekly quest to gather 1,000 Anima will give you 1,500 Gold instead of Renown.
      On top of that, if your character recruits the maximum amount of Souls for their Covenant, your weekly quest to rescue Souls from the Maw will give you 500 Anima.

Both changes have been outlined in the preliminary 9.0.5 patch notes, which is why we think the patch will release one week after we hit maximum Renown, and that's March 16 for the US region and March 17 for the EU.

      Players who reach 40 Renown will receive 1,500 Gold from the weekly quest to gather 1,000 Anima in Patch 9.0.5.
      If you've recruited the maximum amount of Souls for your Covenant, your weekly Renown quests to rescue souls from the Maw will reward 500 Anima.

      The Peak of Serenity Discord spotted two undocumented Windwalker Monk changes that will likely result in a DPS loss for the spec in Patch 9.0.5.
      Mark of the Crane stacks no longer persist through death and are lost when the target dies, meaning Spinning Crane Kick will deal less damage in Patch 9.0.5. When the Monk cancels Fists of Fury to cast other spells during Storm, Earth, and Fire, the spirits will no longer mimic the Monk's other abilities while also channeling Fists of Fury but will cancel casting Fists of Fury to mimic other spells. You can find the rest of the class changes coming in 9.0.5 below.

      Are you wondering how your spec performs in Mythic+? Here's a tier list with all specializations!
      DISCLAIMER
      In this article, we are taking a look at the tier list for Mythic+ based on the data gathered by Benched.me. The site plots all runs available from the Blizzard API (excluding the Chinese region) on a single ridge plot, so it is different from our Shadowlands Mythic+ Rankings maintained by Petko.
      How the Data is Calculated
      To rank all specializations, Benched.me uses something called Meta Ratio Score. The "ratio" is between the specialization's representation in the meta vs. its representation in the population. For example, a specialization makes up 3% of all players in the population, but 6% in the meta, which means that spec's ratio is 6% / 3% = 2.
      Furthermore, the site defines the "population" as all keys level 2 through 15 and the "meta" as keys 16 and above. Based on that, we break down specs into tiers based on their meta ratio as follows:
      S-Tier: Ratio of at least 1.5. A-Tier: Ratio between 1 and 1.5. B-Tier: Ratio between 0.5 and 1. C-Tier: Ratio below 0.5, but greater than 0. F-Tier: Ratio of 0 (the spec isn't present in the high-level bin at all). Spec Tier List for Mythic+
