Production Drector Kaéo Milker posted an update following the latest announcements. The next few months will not be impacted by Brack's announcement and patches will roll out as planned. The next Hero will hit PTR the first week of January.

  • Tha patch will be followed by more reworks and an event, eventually leading to another Hero release, but what the team does beyond that is still under discussion.
  • The devs are still discussing the right cadence of Heroes patches and content and the timing for rolling out 2018 gameplay updates discussed at BlizzCon.
  • They are also finishing the role overhaul.
  • They want to bring back the ability to directly purchase individual skins with Gems and give players the ability to purchase more items with Gold.

Greetings, Heroes!

I wanted to check in and give everyone an update following our latest announcements.

First, the next few months will unfold much like we’d originally planned. In fact, our 85th hero will be announced soon before hitting the PTR the first week of January, and that hero will be followed by a string of cool events and hero reworks en route to our next hero release.

What we want to do beyond those releases is currently under discussion across the Heroes of the Storm team. The plans moving forward are going to be focused on the things that the Heroes team and all of you in our community are excited for. Our team has always thrived when we’re working on things we’re passionate about. While our team is smaller, we’re a fully functional group of developers who can create the features and content we all want, in time. I know everyone is eager to hear more, but we’re still in the early stages of these conversations, so we’ll share updates once the team has made some decisions.

And while I can’t give you all the details just yet, I will also say that we’re actively discussing not only the right cadence for our patches and content – we’re also reconsidering some very core areas of the game to identify more ways we can make Heroes even better for players.

Just a few of the many things we’re currently discussing include:

  • Finalizing the Hero Role overhaul
  • Timing for rolling out the Ranked Play consolidation and improvements we discussed at BlizzCon
  • Bringing back the ability to directly purchase individual skins with Gems
  • Adding the ability to get more content like skins and mounts with Gold

More immediately, we just had a balance patch on Wednesday which will be followed closely by additional matchmaking changes to both Quick Match’s queue times and to the division spread used for matching high-level players in Ranked modes. Please check out the patch notes for all the details on the balance changes and be on the lookout for our matchmaking forum post as those improvements roll out.

So, in summary: meaningful changes are here now, and more content and updates are on the way shortly. As we move into the new year, please be valiant with us as we take some time to evaluate our new approach to all the exciting things we want to do. And as always, please share your thoughts on what you would like to see in 2019 while letting us know how we can continue improving this game that we all love.

Lastly, the team has been having a ton of fun with the Most Amazingest Board Game Ever and we’ve decided to extend our Winter Toy Event into February to give everyone more chances to play. The game can be completed 50 times during the event for up to 50 free Rare Toy Chests, so have fun, and we hope you enjoy the event as much as we do!

Should they really pull this of, specially if early 2019, it will really get trust back on the game. Exactly because these are small and quick changes that the devs wouldn't (or couldn't) change despite being asked by the community since 2.0 launch.

Still the best devs in all of Blizzard. Was a shame that Activision shat on them...

Gonna keep playing this game though because I love it, even though some hard changes have gone through.

Exactly as I suspected. When D3 stopped receiving further development, the team implemented everything they had ready for the next expac as free patch content. It’s already made so why not release it? Same thing here. The HOTS team will already have stuff in development that they can finish up and release for us all.

Interesting to note how that now Activision has pulled support for the game, the dev team are trying to circumvent the Loot Box system that was implemented. Really goes to show that the Blizzard we know and love still exists even if it’s buried deep down and smothered beneath a massive corperation.

Extending event is good, it has been very generous with loot boxes. Probably the best idea so far they had for an event, since it's endless.

I thought it was endless too, apparently it's a 50 free toy chest limit. So that's good to know ?

I wonder if this means Jan 1st, a Tuesday. Or more likely Jan 7, a Monday like usual and the first full week in Jan. Probably the 7th.

Fixed an issue causing Nazeebo's Gargantuan Stomp to not be usable 20 seconds after Gargantuan was summoned. The tooltip for Zagara's Mutalisk has been updated from duration to Health decay.

      All Quests that can lose stacks will never cause the player to fall below milestone thresholds. Pinnacle Rewards are now named Mythic Rewards to give a more Blizzard feel. So Mythic-y! The following Summoned Units now lose health each second: Demon Lieutenants, Demon Warriors, Gargantuan, Hydralisks, Roaches, Rock-It Turrets, Rush Zombies, Scarabs, Treants, Tumors, and Water Elementals. Total Health and Duration of these Summoned Units have been adjusted to compensate for this. Structures now prioritize Summoned Units when there are no remaining minions. Summoned Units no longer take half damage from Structures. XP Globe pickup sound is now also played when killing a minion that instantly yields XP. Updated Homescreen and Startup Music. Return to Top

      General Watch Towers will now reset to neutral after 45 seconds of not being occupied. Volskaya Foundry Triglav Protector bonus Damage and cooldown speed increased from 25% to 40% when 2 players are inside. At 35 stacks, Storm Bolt pierces to hit an additional target, and Muradin's Basic Attack reduces the cooldown of Storm Bolt by 0.5 seconds. Mythic Reward: At 150 stacks, Storm Bolt's range is increased by 50% and width is increased by 100%, and now pierces all targets. Talents

Jaina Base Frostbolt [Q] Fixed an issue causing Jaina's Frostbolt to not have its model updated by Dreadlord Jaina or Lunar Jaina. Orphea Level 4 Allegrissimo Fixed an issue that could cause Allegrissimo's cooldown reduction to not be granted when hitting a Hero at Shadow Waltz' end.
