Story and Lore Dev Livestream Coming Thursday

Recommended Posts

Battle for Azeroth has had a pretty rough start in terms of story and lore, as at the very least it has divided players, and not quite the way Blizzard wanted, aka along faction lines. There's been countless forum and reddit posts talking about Sylvanas' war crimes, Saurfang's inconsistent decisions, as well as a whole lot of other story and character details that players feel haven't been they way they expected and wanted.

This Thursday we might get some answers and perhaps reassurance as we get a story and lore livestream. While we all know Terran Gregory, Steve Danuser worked on quest and story content in Legion and is now the Senior Narrative Designer in BfA.

Delve into the ongoing story and lore in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth with Cinematic Project Director Terran Gregory and Senior Game Designer Steve Danuser in our developer live stream.

Let us know in the comments below what story and lore discussion you’d like to hear, then join us live Thursday, January 10 at 11:00 a.m. PDT.

They dont even know what their lore is, it will just be more stumble and mumble from ion. Like usualy

They should just give up on the "live" part, these streams are all just scripted with selected questions.

"We know our lore up to now is contradictory, nonsensical and unintentionally hilarious.     Tyrande believing that Sparing Saurfang had anything to do with Teldrassil burning.    The Vindicar and draneii in general sitting the war out because reasons.    Rexxar joining the war because "Jaina killed to many".     Night Elves who watched Sylvannas make a sudden offensive against their homeland, watched her slaughter her way to their sacred tree, then burn it down with their children screaming in a fit of temper because one of them cried for her...but they'll join Sylvannas anyway after resurrection because Tyrande and Elune weren't there to save them from Sylvannas."

"But don't worry!   It it will ALL come together, and make perfect story sense!"    (whisper) " ....Soon™"

Last time I checked the Vindicar is the main reason the Alliance can acquire Lightforged Draenei reinforcements, so it ain't really sitting out anything. It just wouldn't make sense to make a space-ship a decisive force of war - space-ships are for space-travel, not close combat. Even on Argus the biggest firepower the Vindicar had was a focusing laser that is probably considered obsolete to azerite-infused weapons (or just wouldn't work as well against mortal targets as it works on demons).

We can also question the fact that Teldrassil... really shouldn't have burned the way it did? They launched fire at the outside of a LIVING tree, surrounded by ocean. And Darnassus isn't even right beside where was hit... How did the fire spread to Darnassus so fast that people couldn't evacuate with mage portals? Like just getting through the tree would take a fair amount of time, let alone getting to the city itself

Nope, Polygon did an interview with the devs about the story, and they said the vindicar exists still but they wanted to focus on other aspects of the story so didn't include it.    That's literally their entire reasoning.

Anima of Life and Death is a Tank Essence gated behind Dungeons in Mythic Season 3. Check out our Heart of Azeroth Class Essence guides for more details on 8.2 Essences.
Note: Some tooltips may be inaccurate right now as WoWDB is working on updates. We tested Anima of Life and Death Rank 3 on 8.2 PTR. The Tank Essence comes with a major power which deals 10% of your max health AoE damage and heals you for up to 50% of your max health. The minor power increases your max health and heals you at 10 stacks. The effect is lost when you fall below 35% health.
      Essence Ranks & Sources
The following section contains useful information about the Anima of Life and Death Essence, including how it changes based on rank.
Rank 1 (Fetish of the Dark Caverns)
The initial rank of the Essence can be obtained from Mythic 4+ End-of-Dungeon Challenger's Cache in Season 3 or later.
Major Power: Anima of Death - Draw upon your vitality to sear your foes, dealing 10% of your maximum health in Fire damage to all nearby enemies and heal for 5% of your maximum health per enemy hit, up to 25% of your maximum health. (Instant, 2.5 min cooldown) Minor Power: Anima of Life - Azerite energy courses through your veins, increasing maximum health by 995 every 5 sec, stacking up to 10 times. This effect is lost if you fall below 35% health. Rank 2 (Fetish of the Deep Dungeons)
The first upgrade is obtained from Mythic 7+ End-of-Dungeon Challenger's Cache in Season 3 or later.
Major Power: Anima of Death - Draw upon your vitality to sear your foes, dealing 10% of your maximum health in Fire damage to all nearby enemies and heal for 5% of your maximum health per enemy hit, up to 25% of your maximum health. (Instant, 2.5 min cooldown) Minor Power: Anima of Life - Azerite energy courses through your veins, increasing maximum health by 995 +++ every 5 sec, stacking up to 10 times. Gain a stack of Anima of Life when you kill an enemy that yields experience or honor. This effect is lost if you fall below 35% health. Rank 3 (Fetish of the Hidden Labyrinths )
Combine 15 Focused Life Anima  from Grand Challenger's Bounty (weekly Mythic chest) in Season 3 or later.
Major Power: Anima of Death - Draw upon your vitality to sear your foes, dealing 10% of your maximum health in Fire damage to all nearby enemies and heal for 5 10% of your maximum health per enemy hit, up to 25 50% of your maximum health. As usual it didn't take long for the Wowsecrets discord to come up with a solution to one of the game's mysteries. And while this particular one wasn't that complex, it's still impressive how fast they got it done. Fabious , the underwater mount from Nazjatar appears to be a very vain seahorse and requires a lot of attention. Luckily, Zenkass/Kassidi of Proudmoore US figured out that what he really wants is his picture taken with the player and he'll join them in their quest!
To obtain this mount, you simply go to Bloodfin Village in Nazjatar (around 25,29), hope he's there and use your S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera MkII on him. If you do find him you should be quick about it, as once he spawns he runs around for 2 minutes and then is gone again. Luckily though, anyone that's there while he's moving around can get the mount in this manner, so it's not limited to 1 player per spawn.
Thanks to Vyndoriesh over on r/WoW for the explanation!

"He emerges from the water, fins swaying lazily in the breeze, sun-kissed scales glittering. He is... Fabious."

We have three short blue posts today covering a recently fixed bug from the PTR regarding a quest reward item level getting reduced, a second clarifying how the ranks for the new essence system work and a third on the mobile app getting updated as we speak.

First off, it seems an early Nazjatar quest reward weapon has had it's item level drastically reduced from the PTR version (415 to 370), as the old version was bugged and had an unintentionally high one:
      Quest Reward (source)
      Hello.
I can confirm that there was a bug in the PTR that was causing this reward to generate at an unintentionally high item level, and the bug was finally fixed just before the content update went live.
So you’re seeing the intended power of the reward, and it should be consistent with other rewards that come from similar activities.
Secondly, there's a tweet clarifying the requirements for higher rank essences:
And finally, the mobile app isn't functioning for some players as it's currently being updated and should pop up at slightly different times for different users:
      Mobile App (source)
There is an update to the app that came today with Rise of Azshara/8.2. It may take a while for the update to propagate out but we have confirmed that people are receiving it. Keep an eye out for updates on your device and you will be able to use the app again soon.
      Thanks all!
