Patch 8.1 Hotfixes: January 9th

As the next patch PTR comes up, so do new hotfixes and today we have another pretty big batch. The big news is refundable armor bought from Titan Residuum, then there's some more Mage and Shaman Azerite trait fixes, Monk, Paladin and Rogue PvP tuning and more.

Dungeons and Raids

  • Raid group size no longer affects the drop rates of Mythic-only mounts.
  • Nighthold
    • Resolved an issue that caused Skorpyron's Broken Shard to not apply correctly to those standing behind it.
  • Shrine of the Storm
    • Lord Stormsong’s Mind Rend impact damage significantly reduced.
    • Vol'zith the Whisperer’s health reduced by 10%.

Island Expeditions

  • Lootable Seafarer's Dubloons can once again spawn on the ground in Island Expeditions.

Items

  • Armor items purchasable for Titan Residuum from Thaumatuge Vashreen are now refundable.
  • Heart of Azeroth
    • Mage
      • Quick Thinking will now correctly activate when casting Frozen Orb, or when casting Blizzard with Freezing Rain, and will no longer sometimes incorrectly activate multiple times on a single spell cast.
    • Shaman
      • Fixed an issue which caused Primal Primer to misbehave when used by multiple players against the same target.

Player versus Player

  • Isle of Conquest
    • Fixed a bug causing Generals to take too much damage from the Glaive Thrower vehicle
    • Significantly reduced the damage done to players by Generals’ Dagger Throw ability.
    • Generals will no longer reset their health to full when returning to their spawn point after being pulled.
    • Repairing a Keep Cannon can no longer be interrupted by damage.
    • Glaive Throwers health increased by 30%, and their damage done to players has been increased.
  • Monk
    • Windwalker
      • Fixed a bug that caused Monks to not parry some attacks with Fists of Fury modified by Turbo Fists.
  • Paladin
    • Holy
      • Fixed a bug that caused Divine Favor to be consumed incorrectly when queued immediately after a Flash of Light or Holy Light.
    • Retribution
      • Ultimate Retribution no longer incorrectly triggers Crusade's cooldown when a nearby player falls below 25% health.
  • Rogue
    • Resolved an issue that could cause Vanish to be incorrectly removed early by Azerite Traits such as Dagger in the Back.

Quests

  • Players who have completed the "Pre-Flight Checklist" can now complete "Twilight Skies."

- Maybe players should get more residium from weekly cache, Blizzard?
- And spend less money on the game since there will be less mythic+ grinds? *filtered* off!

Joy guess I will be doing this around 2 am in the morning on a weekend......

Players who have completed the "Pre-Flight Checklist" can now complete "Twilight Skies."

      Anima of Life and Death is a Tank Essence gated behind Dungeons in Mythic Season 3. Check out our Heart of Azeroth Class Essence guides for more details on 8.2 Essences.
      Note: Some tooltips may be inaccurate right now as WoWDB is working on updates. We tested Anima of Life and Death Rank 3 on 8.2 PTR. The Tank Essence comes with a major power which deals 10% of your max health AoE damage and heals you for up to 50% of your max health. The minor power increases your max health and heals you at 10 stacks. The effect is lost when you fall below 35% health.
      Essence Ranks & Sources
      The following section contains useful information about the Anima of Life and Death Essence, including how it changes based on rank.
      Rank 1 (Fetish of the Dark Caverns)
      The initial rank of the Essence can be obtained from Mythic 4+ End-of-Dungeon Challenger's Cache in Season 3 or later.
      Major Power: Anima of Death - Draw upon your vitality to sear your foes, dealing 10% of your maximum health in Fire damage to all nearby enemies and heal for 5% of your maximum health per enemy hit, up to 25% of your maximum health. (Instant, 2.5 min cooldown) Minor Power: Anima of Life - Azerite energy courses through your veins, increasing maximum health by 995 every 5 sec, stacking up to 10 times. This effect is lost if you fall below 35% health. Rank 2 (Fetish of the Deep Dungeons)
      The first upgrade is obtained from Mythic 7+ End-of-Dungeon Challenger's Cache in Season 3 or later.
      Major Power: Anima of Death - Draw upon your vitality to sear your foes, dealing 10% of your maximum health in Fire damage to all nearby enemies and heal for 5% of your maximum health per enemy hit, up to 25% of your maximum health.       Combine 15 Focused Life Anima  from Grand Challenger's Bounty (weekly Mythic chest) in Season 3 or later.
      Major Power: Anima of Death - Draw upon your vitality to sear your foes, dealing 10% of your maximum health in Fire damage to all nearby enemies and heal for 5 10% of your maximum health per enemy hit, up to 25 50% of your maximum health. (Instant, 2 min cooldown) Minor Power: Anima of Life - Azerite energy courses through your veins, increasing maximum health by 995 2,771 every 5 sec, stacking up to 10 times. While at 10 stacks, heal for 1,751 health every 5 sec. Gain a stack of Anima of Life when you kill an enemy that yields experience or honor. This effect is lost if you fall below 35% health. Rank 4 (Fetish of the Gilded Catacombs)
      Complete the Battle for Azeroth Keystone Master: Season Three achievement in Season 3 or later to get the final cosmetic upgrade for the Essence. Effects will be the same as on the previous rank.

      Associate FX Artist Luis Aguas, who's responsible for animating 8.2 Essences, has uploaded some Rank 4 animations to Artstation. Rank 4 Essences only provide a cosmetic upgrade to the visuals of the Major Power on an Essence.

      With Patch 8.2 live it's time to look at undocumented Rise of Azshara changes that were not present in the official Patch 8.2 notes.
      General
      A Caverns of Time portal was added to Orgrimmar and Stormwind. Female Highmountain Tauren had their face mesh fixed. Subtitles scale with game resolution. Favorite friends now appear in the in-game Friends List. You can now AoE loot up to 50 targets (up from 25). Druids
      /Dance animations have been added for Zandalari Troll Moonkins & Raptors. The Astral Form granted by Glyph of Stars received a new sound when shapeshifting.  Shaman
      /Dance animation for Spectral Raptor form granted by Glyph of the Spectral Raptor has been added. Items
      Underlight Angler's movement speed bonus is no longer retained while in combat. Mage
      Conjure Refreshment Table received a brand new model. (Source)
      Mounts
      Beastlord's Warwolf's /mountspecial animation got a new sound. (Source #1, Source #2)

      As usual it didn't take long for the Wowsecrets discord to come up with a solution to one of the game's mysteries. And while this particular one wasn't that complex, it's still impressive how fast they got it done. Fabious , the underwater mount from Nazjatar appears to be a very vain seahorse and requires a lot of attention. Luckily, Zenkass/Kassidi of Proudmoore US figured out that what he really wants is his picture taken with the player and he'll join them in their quest!
      To obtain this mount, you simply go to Bloodfin Village in Nazjatar (around 25,29), hope he's there and use your S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera MkII on him. If you do find him you should be quick about it, as once he spawns he runs around for 2 minutes and then is gone again. Luckily though, anyone that's there while he's moving around can get the mount in this manner, so it's not limited to 1 player per spawn.

      We have three short blue posts today covering a recently fixed bug from the PTR regarding a quest reward item level getting reduced, a second clarifying how the ranks for the new essence system work and a third on the mobile app getting updated as we speak.

      First off, it seems an early Nazjatar quest reward weapon has had it's item level drastically reduced from the PTR version (415 to 370), as the old version was bugged and had an unintentionally high one:

      Hello.
      I can confirm that there was a bug in the PTR that was causing this reward to generate at an unintentionally high item level, and the bug was finally fixed just before the content update went live.
      So you’re seeing the intended power of the reward, and it should be consistent with other rewards that come from similar activities.
      Secondly, there's a tweet clarifying the requirements for higher rank essences:
      And finally, the mobile app isn't functioning for some players as it's currently being updated and should pop up at slightly different times for different users:

      There is an update to the app that came today with Rise of Azshara/8.2. It may take a while for the update to propagate out but we have confirmed that people are receiving it. Keep an eye out for updates on your device and you will be able to use the app again soon.
