Battle of Dazar'alor M Race Day 3: Catching Up

Recommended Posts

Another day has passed in the Mythic race and we have three guilds at Jaina's door, at three very different stages of progression. We still do not know how far Limit has made it into the fight, but we do know where Method and Pieces are. The Asia servers also came online and their top guild Alpha performed amazingly and managed to secure a World 4th!

The day started with Method, Pieces, Exorsus and the other EU guilds coming back for another day of catching up, with Pieces in the lead. Method were the first we heard from, and it was big news around 1:30 PM CET, as they'd downed Stormwall Blockade, a full 3 hours faster than Limit's time on the boss, which meant their previous issues were limited to the High Tinker only. Considering how quickly Method had cleared up to Mekkatorque and their speedy Blockade kill, the two top guilds were actually about even in terms of total clear times up to Jaina. Exorsus also moved on up with a Tinker World 5th, while it took Pieces quite a long time to get past the Blockade, only managing to do so at the very end of the day, around 12:30 AM, 8 hours slower than Limit and 11 slower than Method.
So, let's take a look at that World 2nd Stormwall Blockade kill by Method:

Method now progressing on Jaina means we get to see the Mythic fight for ourselves and we've already posted a video of their then best attempt, but they've done considerably better since then, with a 46.7% attempt before they went to bed.

Limit also opened up a little on their earlier experiences in the raid, sharing wipe counts but also some problems they had along the way to Jaina, showcasing some of the disadvantages related to being the first guild to get to a boss:

As mentioned before, the Asia guilds were also catching up and very quickly, with three guilds (Alpha, Jitianhong and Skyline) already on 6/9 yesterday morning, claiming spots 13-16, which seemed pretty impressive at the time considering their 2 day disadvantage over the US and 1 day over EU. However, Alpha showed us that the harder the bosses got, the quicker they'd catch up, as they leapt from No.13 straight to number 4, passing Exorsus along the way and claiming the Asia first, World 4th High Tinker Mekkatorque kill! A few US guilds also kept moving through the raid, as Wildcard Gaming, Big Dumb Guild and Instant Dollars grabbed the US 2nd, 3rd and 4th as well as World 6th through 8th, with Wildcard getting the 7/9 Tinker kill 4 hours before the other two.

We now have three guilds with only one boss to go and progressing on Jaina, five a boss behind and trying to get past Stormwall Blockade, and a whole lot (28) with King Rastakhan down. It's another 28 guilds down on 5/9, 39 on 4/9, and then the number suddenly jumps to 291 down on Jadefire Masters/Grong and 3/9, dipping down a bit to 275 on 2/9 and finally, we have 1196 guilds with only one boss down, on 1/9.

As always, if you want more check out Method.gg's live progress coverage for all the action as it happens.

The new War Within Allied Races was added to the Alpha today and we already have a full look at not only all their customization options, but their dances as well, courtesy of MrGM! You can check out the Earthen's racial abilities here if you missed them earlier.
Let's start with the more dynamic feature, with both male and female dances:
And then there's big amount of customization options, as well as a size comparison with regular dwarves:

So, are we liking the new Allied Race overall? More than actual dwarves?

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?
