World of Warcraft Patch 8.6.7 Build 5309

Update Notes WIP DO NOT RELEASE

April 1, 2019

Companion App Update: Findr
Find your next tank, healer, or damage dealer at a glance with the latest update to the WoW Companion App: Findr. When you open the Findr feature, you’ll be presented with a picture and a brief description of another player, and you can decide whether they’d be the right match for your party. Features include:

  • Glance at a player’s gear and achievement points for 3 seconds (maximum) before making a snap judgment about how well they’ll tank your Mythic Keystone run.
  • Swipe right to request a match and immediately send a party invitation.
  • Swipe left to completely dismiss the player’s entire existence; this is completely anonymous, distancing you from the other player’s growing vortex of self-doubt.
  • Once a match has been made, option to not message them right away, which makes it look like you’re super busy and use Findr all the time.

When the time is right, gather your new groupmates together, and head off to whatever adventures lay in store!

General

  • “Shell Game” can now be attempted on Mythic difficulty, featuring a 64x64 grid.
  • Following the success of the Comp Stomp PvP Brawl, which allowed a team of AI-controller characters to battle real players in Arathi Basin, we are now allowing teams of AI characters to complete dungeons.
  • Riverbud is now legal in Drustvar, Stormsong Valley, and Tiragarde Sound.
  • Riverbud remains illegal in Kul Tiras.

Races

  • Blood elves now have short-eared cosmetic options.
  • The human racial ability that allows you to escape has been renamed. It is now called Every Skinny Kul Tiran for Himself.

Classes

Death Knight

  • New Runeforging trait: Emboss your weapon with the ability to transport you to Bolvar. You should talk to your death dad more often, my dude.
  • New Death Knight travel form: Death Leopard
  • Blood Death Knights may no longer select the Heartbreaker talent during the Love Is in the Air event, you monsters.
  • The Bloody Runeblade Azerite trait can’t believe the news today. Runeblade, Bloody Runeblade.
  • Recent alternative healer disciplines have resulted in a resurgence of Virulent Plague.

Demon Hunter

  • Due to a general lack of demons in Battle for Azeroth, the Illidari have begun looking for new sources of souls.
  • Insatiable Hunger has been trying out intermittent fasting and is seeing some great results.
  • After poor results from a recent structural inspection, all Eye Beams are being upgraded for greater load capacity.

Druid

  • Nobody:
  • Blizzard: Druids don’t wear clothing, they just shapeshift themselves to appear like they do.
  • Feral Druids can now be crowd-controlled by throwing a slice of cheese on their head.
  • Groups of 5 Feral Druids can come together to form one super-bot.
  • Due to noise complaints, Stonebark has been fitted with a shock collar.
  • Soul of the Forest has been donated to Demon Hunters.

Hunter

  • Hati went to live on a farm with grandpa Rexxar. We promise you, Hati is in a better place.
  • Due to safety concerns, Hunter transmogrification options have been limited to armor pieces that are orange in color.
  • Pets that meet certain size and weight restrictions may now travel with you on flight paths.
  • Survival Hunters may now equip quivers.
  • Please stop overfeeding your cat pets. It’s unhealthy for them, even if they’re adorable chonkers.

Mage

  • The Mage class mount has been re-released as a digital download for those without a disc drive.
  • Aluneth now responds to voice commands. Examples include:
    • “Aluneth, reorder my mats.”
    • “Aluneth, set a timer for raid.”
    • “Aluneth, play ‘Despacito.’”
  • Due to global warming, Glacial Spike is now 20% smaller every year.
  • Flame Patch has been renamed to Flame Content Update.
  • Blazing Soul has been donated to Demon Hunters.
  • Conjure Refreshment now creates Arcanado Toast.

Monk

  • A Brewmaster got into the Whirling Dragon Punch. You should probably take it easy.
  • Mist Wrap has been upgraded to Mist Wrap Supreme, which includes sour cream and cheese.
  • Dampen Harm has been removed. Harm is damp enough already. You might even call it moist.
  • Tiger’s Lust is now rated T for Teen.

Paladin

  • Light of Dawn is now more energy efficient and automatically turns off if you leave the room.
  • First Avenger only understood a few of the references in these patch notes.
  • Repentance has been renamed “Shame.” It now has 3 charges, which can be reset by ringing a bell.
  • Inquisition is now baseline, and activates randomly without warning. No one expects Inquisition!

Priest

  • Knaifu has been renamed “Bae Blade.”
    • Bae Blade’s whispers are now more encouraging.
    • Bae Blade is now your life coach.
    • You can do it, sweetie.
  • Last Word is now a mandatory talent choice. You should always try to get Last Word in.
  • Auspicious Spirits has been increased. It is now 40% more auspicious.
  • Circle of Healing is now available in other useful shapes.
  • The Demon Hunters got into Body and Soul, but didn’t quite know what to do with half of it, so it’s just Body now.

Rogue

  • Fan of Knives is no longer suitable for displaying on your bedroom wall at your age, Randy.
  • Because you can’t stop being children with abbreviations, Assassination has been renamed. It is now known as “Sneaky Stab Guy.”
  • To promote class fantasy, Vendetta has had its cooldown increased by 40 years.
  • It’s been almost 15 years and Shadowstrike still reminds you of that one polearm nobody wanted in Molten Core.
  • Soul Shadows (Artifact Trait) has been donated to Demon Hunters.
  • In an effort to make the Rogue class appeal to a younger audience, Shadow Dance has been given some more modern styles:
    • Shadow Yeet
    • Shadow Floss
    • Shadow Dab

Shaman

  • Shaman totems now come in a tote(m) bag, which you can receive by sending a generous donation to the Earthen Ring.
  • Sundering now requires specific garments be worn in order to be used. You must always equip clean Sunderwear.
  • Static Charge is now 50% more effective when on carpet.
  • Call the Thunder would really like you to start texting instead. It’s 2019.
  • Liquid Magma Totem has been renamed Magma Totem, because what other kind of magma would it be?

Warlock

  • Warlocks are refusing to share their souls with Demon Hunters.
  • Almost certainly unrelated to the above, several Warlock spells seem to have gone missing:
    • Dark Soul
    • Soul Conduit
    • Soul Strike
    • Sacrificed Souls
    • Burning Rush
    • Soul Fire
  • Internal Combustion has been upgraded to electric.

  • Protection Warriors with the Safeguard talent have now been signed up for 12 months of credit monitoring.
  • Soul of the Slaughter (Artifact Trait) has been donated to Demon Hunters.
  • Heavy Repercussions wishes you’d just call it “Repercussions” and stop making references to its weight all the time.

As someone who has mained a Rogue for 12 years, the Rogue notes absolutely made my day.  I would love the joke Assassination (Sin / A$s) rename to Sneaky Stab Guy.

Back in 2011 they added one for rogue/rouge that will stick to me for as long as I play a rogue/rouge:

Rogues

  • Due to continual misspellings of the "rogue" class, we have officially changed the name to the easier to type "rouge."

Additionally I would like to have outlaw Rogues renamed to less sneaky slash/smack guy, sign here please to support ?

Blizzard just announced an upcoming tuning pass for 3 bosses in Castle Nathria and several changes to Sanguine Depths!
      Raid and Dungeon (source)
We’re working on a slate of adjustments to several encounters that we intend to enact with scheduled weekly maintenance (early a.m. PST on March 2 in this region). Here are the planned changes:
      Dungeons and Raids
Castle Nathria Lady Inerva Darkvein Healers are now chosen as a last resort target of Shared Suffering and Concentrate Anima on Raid Finder, Normal, and Heroic difficulties. The ambient damage of Loose Anima for open containers has been reduced on Raid Finder, Normal, and Heroic difficulties. Targets of Shared Suffering no longer take damage from the beams they are wearing on Raid Finder, Normal, and Heroic difficulties. Passing through the opposite edge will continue to damage targeted players. Hungering Destroyer Health reduced by 5% on Mythic difficulty. Reduced the damage players wearing Gluttonous Miasma take by 10% on Mythic difficulty. The damage increase of Essence Sap has been reduced by 20% per stack. Expunge now shows up in the combat log when it is applied to players. Volatile Ejection now shows up as a debuff when a player is targeted with this spell. Sun King’s Salvation Increased the amount of healing Essence Overflow heals Kael’thas to 2.5% of his maximum health on all difficulties (was 2%). The tooltip will be updated to reflect the change in a future hotfix or patch. Increased the healing done bonus from Sinfall Boon to 100% per application on Mythic difficulty (was 50%). Reduced the strength of the Cloak of Flames damage shield on Shade of Kael’thas by 10% on Mythic difficulty. Sanguine Depths Wicked Oppressor’s Wrack Soul cast time increased to 2 seconds (was 1.5 seconds) and is cast less frequently. Regal Mistdancer’s Echoing Thrust damage reduced by 20% and is cast less frequently. General Kaal’s health reduced by 10% during the gauntlet event. Thank you very much for your feedback!

It seems it's the week of leveling tricks, as we now have a very fast method on our hands, after yesterday's very low-effort one. Unlike that one, however, this one is definitely leaning on the exploit side of things, so keep that in mind.
Leavaris came across a bit of an anomaly over in Silithus, as the Hive'Zora location is home to some weird scaling, XP-wise. The mobs seem to have their XP values in a twist, but you need employ a little trickery first via Chromie Time and Party Sync. The mobs will now grant crazy amount of experience and could get you from 50-60 in under 2 hours, as Leavaris claims! We haven't tested this one out, but it seems to be working quite well in the video. There's a solid possibility that this might be considered an exploit, so keep that in mind if you plan to try it.
Party Sync has been a little weird XP-whise in general, but this one will (and should) get fixed pretty soon.

Here come two more weeks of Mythic+ logs, with the class tuning changes having settled in. This week saw a +26 get taken down and not that many changes in the rankings since last time, as the meta seems to have very much settled in, so we'll be looking at the DPS, tanks and healers in all keys and some higher ones, as usual.
Note: The logs are based on POINTS (as noted in each image), and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We'll also be switching back to the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity.
In the 95th percentile we see some movement: unlike in raids, Mythic+ players haven't utilized the new Frost Mage buffs as much and even though the spec has jumped up a little, it's nowhere near the huge spike we've seen in Nathria. As for the all percentiles chart, we do have a new No.1, as Outlaw has taken Fire down a notch.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.

      Healer Specs
Not many changes to healers, as the rankings are pretty much the same as a couple weeks ago:

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Tank Specs
The tank meta seems very much set, as there haven't been any changes to the rankings for a long time now, as Vengeance dominates all:

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      High Keys
And now it's on to the high-end, as we take a look at the +15 and +20 all percentile data for DPS roles, where things look a lot different week-to-week every time, as there's much less data to work with. Of note this time around is the disappearance of Assassination from +20ies, as they were on top for quite a while and are now at the very bottom. The +15s are much more stable due to many more runs, and the big change since a few weeks ago is that Fury dropped down a little, as the hype over the buffs seems to have died down a little and Fire/Windwalker returned to their 2nd and 3rd places.

Mythic+15 All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.

Mythic+20 All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our guides or our extensive Mythic+ guides as well!

The maker of the awesome Castle Pineapplia is back with a new browser game, but this one focuses on your dodging specific abilities!
The Pineapple Training Grounds lets you choose between Sire Denathrius' Massacre, Shriekwing's Echoing Screech and one Mythic+ mechanic, Dark Bolt from the Ventunax encounter in Spires of Ascension. You'll obviously be controlling the pineapple again and dodging the mechanics to get you ready for when you run into them in actual WoW:

      That is one dead pineapple.
Here are some comments from the creator:
It's definitely worth a try, especially on Insane difficulty, so check it out here.

If you have a ton of alts you want to try out and don't feel like putting in too much effort, here's a not too slow and very easy way to get from 50 to 60!
MoffiSlayer found a spot in Ardenweald where you can easily 3-button chill farm player XP via a pet battle, but you might need the Iron Starlette and some pet bandages. It's probably doable with  other pets as well, but this one gets the job done in 2 rounds, so it's the optimal choice. It's a pretty good option if you have something else to do/watch a show or movie, or even at work as some players noted (via remote desktop tools and similar), as it's a very brainless side-activity.   This will earn you about 195K XP per hour, so you'll need about 14-15 hours to get from 50 to 60, which actually isn't that bad at all considering the regular way will probably take about 10 for a relatively chill playthrough, except that requires actual focus.  The pet battle is located in Ardenweald at 40, 64.4.
